However, in the current political climate the fact that the states can decide themselves allow a safeguard so that woman can at least find someone where they can have a safe medical procedure. Ask our grandmothers and mothers about the backstreet abortions and coat hanger days which still exist in some countries around the world. At least this way women, although this is incredibly difficult, can go out of state. How sad is this, and against the SCOTUS ruling in Roe v Wade, so actually against the law of the land.

This is probably why Phyllis Schlafly and the religious right kept Congress from pasing an ERA. Without equal rights across the board, the states can choose for women. It's unjust as it is unequal.

It's actually very easy to find an abortion clinic in American. Finding someone to pay for it is where the problem lies... but that is not the problem of society, that is the problem of the individual. Keeping your legs closed is much easier and less expensive than an abortion. Do not come back to me about rape as the HUGE MAJORITY of abortions in America are for reasons of CONVENIENCE... not rape.

You guys are uninformed. Many states have NO abortion clinics. And I'm not talking about small states where you can drive to the next in a few hours, I'm referring to BIG states. My state has just one. It is a big state. The next state to the south, zero. Moreover, some states have laws that require several weeks between doctor visits at an abortion clinic (even if the patient travelled 300 miles) to "allow" the patient to have the time to change her mind, which just isn't going to happen while simultaneously delaying the procedure. Other states, as in the film, require minors to have parental consent. For a minor from a violent home, this is not an option. And yes, MANY minors come from homes sufficiently violent to merit that this not be a law. The age of consent is 16 in many states, meaning that the law believes that teenage girls are old enough to make decisions about their sexuality (this is a way of letting men off the hook for statutory rape) but then it wants those same girls to have parental approval for an abortion? Patriarchy much? Either they do or they do not have the maturity to make decisions about thier bodies. My talking points aren't news. You guys are both clearly in a bubble. Reconsider your news diet.
