It's funny that she says she wants to have an abortion because she's not ready to be a mother, but when it comes to giving her b* she doesn't offer to prevent herself with medication

But you CAN get an abortion in Pennsylvania. Maybe it's the parental consent mandate in PA that's the problem in this movie.

@Domagoj Čović How? Did you even see the film?
@rickardkaufman3988
@rickardkaufman3988 4 года назад
@Domagoj Čović Pro- choice not pro- abortion. Pro- choice means if you don't want to have the fetus either have an abortion which is the last option or get guarantees like childcare, education, healthcare, and family paid leave if you want to do it. But America doesn't have the best and hence the girl would have seeked an abortion. If she was living in Canada or Scandinavia, she would have kept the fetus. Also, watch the film. Don't judge things by their cover.

It’s based on the book by the same title. She DOESNT get an abortion, and the trailer doesn’t do justice with all the intricate relationships and adventures she has. The movie is an emotional rollercoaster.
@jav1ram

That is incorrect, Eliza Hittman did not adapt this story from a book. Hittman wrote the script based on personal research.

The Hollywood double standard is evident. When a film gets made that's anti-abortion (see Unplanned last year), it gets blacklisted, but any pro-abortion film gets stellar reviews. It's hard to trust reviews on these because the quality of the film doesn't matter to the critics in either case. I'm not saying this film is bad, but there are good anti-abortion films too. But you'd never know what they are.
@Starkardur
@Starkardur 4 года назад
Maybe if the other movie had been good - it would have gotten good reviews. This film is getting great reviews because it's well done. You see that's the difference.
@nicholasmedich7493
@nicholasmedich7493 4 года назад
@@Starkardur Unplanned was completely blacklisted even before it came out. Twitter actually removed their account, and several TV networks refused to show ads. Then it got a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an A+ on Cinemascore - people really liked it. I'm not saying Never Rarely Sometimes Always is bad or good - I haven't seen it. I have seen Unplanned, and found it to be good. Not amazing, but not the monstrosity the critics would have you believe. It's just that the reviews are more based on the ideology of the film than anything else.
@MichRoyal
@MichRoyal 4 года назад
Gunnhild Edwards Definitely not true in all circumstances. That’s why it’s better to trust Audience Scores than critic ones, because most critics can be bought and paid for seeing as it’s their actual job. Some trash movies have tons of great reviews, but you see the vast majority of people who watched it think it’s trash.
@nicholasmedich7493
@nicholasmedich7493 4 года назад
@@MichRoyal I'm not even sure they're paid off. It's just that there tends to be groupthink among them - even on most social issues. Sometimes they get obsessed with how progressive a film is or isn't, and judge a film based on that. I'm curious to see what the revews end up looking like for I Still Believe, also releasing March 13th. It's a Romance with strong Christian elements, but doesn't challenge any key social issues, so they might give it the okay.

@@nicholasmedich7493 While it is true that Twitter suspended the film's account, it was quickly restored. From the movie's IMDB page: "The films official Twitter account was briefly suspended for one day to due to being linked to another account that had broken Twitter's rules but it was resolved quickly and the account was reinstated." Also, the movie was refused advertisements on major networks because of the sensitive topic the movie commentates on, not because of so-called "blacklisting". It's also entirely possible that Unplanned was reviewed negatively among critics because of the film's overall poor quality, and has nothing to do with any sort of "bias" that you believe mainstream critics hold.
