Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder characterised by repetitive, sudden, and involuntary ‘tics’ - these can be motor tics (movements) and verbal tics (sounds). Research indicates that as many as one in 100 Australian school children may be affected, with the typical age of onset around 5 to 7 years.
