0:56 2:29 3:12 Brutal accents, absolutely unneeded. I saw her doing the same witht the Chaconne in Paris in October 2018 - what a pity On the other hand, 1.55 and seq. ( crescendo) is a pure marvel.
This is totally killer, spine-tingling stuff. Absolute full body chills with tears streaming down your face. A revelation of a long overplayed top 40 hit.
I was actually just shedding some tears hearing that. A lovely lady in a beautiful dress absolutely hitting the ball out of the park with this rendition. Stunning.
My favourite piece ever. I am glad they decided to zoom in at 1:39 which is my favourite section and when I first heard this piece I honestly taught there were two violins. It's incredible just to watch this.
She is really the very first interpreter of J S BACH partitas outplaying all other by using her temperament in combination with a famous technique. I have been playing this Prelude around 30 years now and it is to say this is among the most difficult thing you can even play on a violin. It is only going on like a machine and you have no chance if you are loosing your concentration. But Hillary she has no problems at all. Congratulation
Aside from her obvious technical ability, I really enjoy her liberal expression through grand pause. this piece can sound robotic without some well timed cadence variation. That to me is her greatest talent. Her ear. Glad she's practiced 20 thousand hours so she can share her vision with us!
@@randomoneforstuff3696 I followed your link to the sonata no 3 and listened to the allegro assai. It is wonderful playing for sure. He has great sound and control. But authentic it is not! In the first bar alone he plays the 2 eight notes as quarter notes and turns a 3/4 bar into 4/4. I’m absolutely sure Bach could count beats and if wanted 4 beats he’d have written them in. It’s great and interesting - but authentic? I don’t think so.
@@joefagan9335 Also, if you want to listen to what is arguably the most historically accurate, you should listen to Rachel Podger's Allegro Assai: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jv0s736P-G4.html
@@randomoneforstuff3696 How is that the most historically accurate? Rachel Podger never would have been allowed in a baroque orchestra, into a musical conservatory, or to perform in public.
Have you listened to a less 'hard' and overly vibratoey interpretation? Here is one by the Netherlands Bach Society: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gYT1JUq0k04.html
Hilary Hahn is such a magnificent performer and I count myself lucky I'm born in such an era I can simply go on youtube and punch her name into the search bar and observe one of her many sublime and extraordinary performances. What an incredible talent Ms Hahn is
I got to watch her play this live a few days ago for the opening of the conrad in la Jolla ca and you cannot compare this recording with the real thing.
For me, Hilary is the best. Her technical precision is surpassed only by her musical expression. She was blowing my mind over 20 years ago, and she just keeps getting better.
There are many good and more historically informed performances: Shunske Sato: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gYT1JUq0k04.html Rachel Podger: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-693zZZ67Nw0.html Alana Youssefian: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zWCkLkWV2Jk.html Sebastian Bohren: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BR1_FhZdUIM.html
I started learning this piece slightly under a year ago when I was 11. Now I'm learning my favourite piece (mendelssohn violin concerto). With practice everything is easier and you can achieve your dreams
The English language needs a word for something that transcends perfection. The performance is utterly flawless but the subtle rubato and dynamics take the performance to a breath taking level. She is the goddess of the violin.
I first heard her play the Paganini Caprice, and have been a fan ever since. I LOVE listening to her play Bach, because she loves to play it...and it shows!
This piece is scary to do on stage. I did this piece like 4 times on different stages, and very time I did it, it was never the same experience. Very risky piece.
I personally did not think much of this performance. I think the hall's acoustics aren't great and maybe the mic positioning factored in to, but the sound felt kind of grainy and at times out of tune and weak. Hilary sound is practically always much better than this.
