Turbines only produce 25% but costed at 100% because they don't / can't always run. Who is gaining ? the land owners that get a few grand for each turbine on their land. Turbines also have a shelf life, who picks up the cost of renewing the renewables ????????? I think it may be you and me folks . I have had wind turbines behind my house for 15-20 years they have been idle for six months because they going to be replaced with new. No doubt the worn out turbines are going to landfill. Twenty years but we not seen any cheap energy yet.

You need energy to make isolate Hydrogen as a gas. Hydrogen only makes sense if you are going to use it as a battery system. When there is too much wind the energy can break water into hydrogen and oxygen and store the hydrogen to be burned again to produce power when the wind doesn't blow. Battery systems are key to renewable energy systems. In the USA they use the excess power from wind turbines to pump water into a man made lake, and when the wind is not blowing the water falls again producing hydro electric energy. The lake is simply a battery system.

You have to just do a simple calculation. What is the cost of 1 wind Turbine to build and erect. The cost of the turbine maintenance for its life. Cost of infrastructure to put the turbine onto the grid. Cost of the turbine to be dismantled. Cost of recycling the parts if possible. What is the life time of the Turbine and what is the average yearly power that is produced. From this you can calculate the cost per KWh. Do a similar calculation for a gas plant and see what the cost per KWh is and it will be much less than the wind turbine. Since many turbines will be required the environmental calculation of the should be done also. The degradation of the land or sea bed, the cost of the materials and their environmental impact,and the cost of the infrastructure and installation. Since thousands of turbines will be needed to produce the same amount of energy as a gas plant, the environmental damage will be great. Turbines will also require battery back-up because the wind does not blow all the time, and the battery back-up will cost 2 to 3 times the cost of the turbine, and will also have an environmental impact. If you want to go Green, then Nuclear power is the only alternative.

I was a refugee coming to the UK in the late seventies and after a few years learning the British ways of life and their politics, I came to the conclusions that Labour is a stupid political party, slightly better than the Liberal Democrats which is a Looney party. The Labour politicians may have their hearts in the right place but their brains are well below them, and in effect they are a charity. That is never any good in running a county's finance as they just spray tax payers' money around, and as a quote from one of former British Prime Ministers "you eventually run out of other people's money.” Most would be politicians not wanting to make hard decisions joining the Labour party. I know most people have very low opinion of all politicians but to me the Tories are the least bad of the bunch, and if the last 14 years were bad for the country, it would have been much worse under a Labour government! I nearly fell of my chair when I heard Keir Starmer saying the next Labour government not raising taxes because that was an absolute lie! I am now not following politics much as I can almost predict what the next few year will be like. My guess is Labour will be voted out at the next election as the electors will have had enough of them!

I could tell the electricity supplier to disconnect so I'm not ripped off by standing charge, surge pricing via a smart meter. As was pointed out wind generators have a very short life span. The new wind farms will arrive around the time that the older turbines cease. Before the 2050 target every wind generator will need to be replaced. Is that cost going to be shown anytime soon?

When studying engineering I had to submit a paper on alternatives. wind power was not viable. Solar faired better, but also possessed problem. Nuclear looked good, but came with toxic baggage. Wave and tidal power are not viable. Hydroelectric looks great, but also possessed its own problem. My favourite was gravity power given gravity is a constant. The research on latter looks interesting, though not the I went, and it too possesses some problems. To close, I predict blackouts in the future. Has for Miliband is a walking blackouts.

The problem is the more turbines the more electricity produced when not needed. The grid has to be balanced to 50Hz the price of potential energy from turbines is guaranteed by government subsidies to the generation company. Wind blows when not required.

I live in Spain and am off grid. I use solar panels and wind power and a backup diesel generator. I do not get completely powered from renewables doesn't work and have to rely on the generator. The big problem is storage!!! You need to store the energy for overnight and sometimes the weather is dull cloudy and no wind. That can last a few days you need to store it so you need that storage system to last a two day capacity. The other problem is they want all EV but that uses the same grid. So that needs to be factored in, i have not that taken into account anywhere. I am also not sure the current grid (pun) can supply that energy with out more investment. I lived of grid 15 years and that is in southern Spain. The levels of solar panels still need diesel generators in the winter. The UK being further north will need to be double my current system to even come close enough to run the house. Oh just another thing the Spanish government are trying to tax the number of solar panels on the grid as a lot little investors have bought into the lie. The other thing is when does the energy need to be available. In Spain there is great demand during the hot summer months so it works out well. In the UK it's mostly winter and overnight, which is when you have the least generation.

Vote Labour and with the country in the state its in have voted for disaster. 90% of wind and solar equipment comes in from overseas very few British jobs.

Australia have already. dropped hydrogen, and others are not practical due to cost benefit failures. Clean hydrogen is 9 times the cost of that from fossil fuel. Doubling up to cover for no wind is making elec very expensive. Also powering 11 million homes is false and 80% of is done by gas. Gas is 7p per therm elec is £24 p look at your bill.
