@RevereOverland
@RevereOverland 6 месяцев назад
@@Intrepid17011 the Autosock is approved in all EU countries except Austria. They perform about the same in most on-road conditions, although they're definitely not as tough. They're perfect for someone who might only need them once a year since they pack down small and are light.

@Intrepid17011 6 месяцев назад
@@RevereOverland Thats true to an extend. They are allowed, but if an area requieres Chains ( on certain roads there are signs demanding you to put on Chains ) you have to switch them out for actual Chains. So it doesnt make much sense to buy them here since you have to buy proper chains anyway :D
@tothetrail
@tothetrail 5 месяцев назад
@@Intrepid17011 The socks are perfect when you just need them for a short period of time, like getting out of the parking lot at the ski area. Just used them last weekend at Mammoth on the Sprinter. People were stuck all over the lot and spinning tires in the lot. We put the socks on in about two minutes, drove down the icy road back to town, and took them off in about a minute. Only had them on for about ten minutes. We were back in town by the time others got the chains on. Have chains also, and used them to get to June the day before, but the socks are so much easier to put on and off. Both are nice to have.

Yes, chains are one of those things when you need them you need them when you don’t you don’t. But chains don’t really make you dig in much. It’s throttle control you spin your tires without chains you dig in you spin your tires with chains you dig in. I’ve actually had to use them twice over the last two years, but it was due to ice under the snow. they are such a pain to put on. I just launched my RU-vid video from about six weeks ago where we had no choice and we had to chain up. The biggest misconception on ice is airing your tires down too low this will actually make things worse on ice and create less pressure per square inch.
@RevereOverland

Nice heater but that’s expensive! Cheapest I could find it for was $1000. Do you have a link to buy the propane heater? Does your heater put out as much heat as Chris’s diesel heater does? What power source did you run yours off of since your friend was using the Bluetti?
@RevereOverland
@RevereOverland 6 месяцев назад
It’s very pricey, but worth it if you’re going on long trips to cold places thousands of miles from home! If you’re staying in state then a less reliable cheap diesel heater will be fine - if it fails, just go home! Our heaters are both rated at 2,000kW, although I feel like mine gets hotter. The tent can easily get over 100° if I leave it on! I ran mine off the 12v output in the back since it doesn’t pull much power.
