"Some of our astute followers have noticed me slurring my words. I am not drunk but working with Brad it would be justifiable. I had 6 infected cysts removed from my mouth (noncancerous) and I have residual scar tissue and numbness. I will try to do better. Thanks Bob."
I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis L5-S1 30 years ago. I appreciate any and everything that and helps with core strengthening while not extending the back. Thank you!
I feel ya. I was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis L4-L5, 37 years ago. I had lost feeling through both of my legs. At the age of 17 yrs old and now I’m 54 yrs old. This happened at work. I was covered with L&I, what luck. Swimming is a great exercise. Doc put in physical therapy for 6-8 months. Also, due to I couldn’t walk. Had no problem swimming the was best. If you have any questions for additional exercise. Try hip bridges and yoga (BoHo Beautiful on RU-vid she has and exercise for our spondylisthesis)
I had surgery 10 years ago for this... when it would flare up it was so severe I couldn't walk, the Dr said it was crushing the sciatica nerves in both legs.. I couldn't even stand, roll over or even move! I had a severe slip and it was agony.... I stood up the night of my surgery and thank God 🙏 I am 💯 now... greater Pittsburgh orthopedics👍
I recently had an ALIF L5-S1, 7 weeks ago. My surgeon said it was a grade 2, 13mm with a pars defect. I started post surgery physical therapy this week. Before surgery I was doing physical therapy but felt like it wasn't doing anything. I was in pain after a run. I couldn't do kettlebell exercises anymore.
@@ashalonchiq I wish u well! There's nothing worse than that pain... I could literally feel my skeleton grinding,I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy... I found that all the physical therapy and even the chiropractor ugh! Didn't do anything... I honestly wasn't scared about the surgery at all...I knew it was going to be OK. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you ❤
You two gentlemen are in great shape! Wish our schools and others would stress how important it is to "move it or lose it" especially as we age biologically.
I have had physical therapy for my stenosis every year for about 6 years. I have never seen these exercises done and I can't wait to start them because I have spondylolisthesis also. Thank you!
I love this! Diagnosed with Cervical Spondylosis at 40 years old and lumbar Spondylosis at 42 years old. My body feels older and more painful than it should at my age. Waiting for my specialist appointment need relief now
I really, really liked this one. I'm not diagnosed with this. But my x-rays years ago showed a ton of arthritis and spurs, especially in the neck and low back. And lumbar extension of any kind kills. Often I can't do the exercises recommended. But if I can get strong enough again, I know I can do these.
"...but working with Brad it would be justifiable..." 🤣🤣🤣 Not only experience and knowledge, but witty repartée! This is definitely the best Bob and Brad channel on RU-vid. 😉👍
Please, please, please do a specific video for spondylolisthesis of the Cervical Vertebrae! It’s causing Paresthesia in my hands! I’m looking for SPECIFIC EXERCISES to relieve the compression of nerve roots coming from neck that go down arms, to finger tips!! For those who don’t know about this, it is very similar to sciatica/nerve pain involvement of lumbar vertebrae and sciatic nerve compression except it’s in the neck vertebrae. Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the video guys! I have Spondylolisthesis L5/S1 and actually put my back out this morning (I just sat up in bed, incorrectly) 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Will start these exercises once my back heals again
I was diagnosed with L5-S1 20 years ago. I was told, don’t arch your back beyond normal standing. I found that I couldn’t sit on a an exercise ball without irritating that area, and I have to make certain my bike seat isn’t too high ( I did my first spin class back then and the seat was set way too high and I was in great pain for a long time; but who knew). So I ride my own bike without issue. Thank you for these exercises, and my core needs this!
Just was diagnosed with this. Up until then, I assumed "ah, just a grumpy disk" and did all the stretches for that issue, which were wrong according to Brad & Bob's video. I even was training for climbing Aconcagua with a rucksack (all weight in the waist) and made it to the top in January but my leg was tingling and back hurting the whole way up. I find using my knees and not doing anything that hurts the back works. I also used porter service. The cobra extension, yikes, I was doing it, but it did feel fine. Also, I find pull-ups are helping with shoulders, abs, arm strengh, and stretching overall.
Please do a video of cervical spondylosis for the neck! I just recovered from a month+ long nightmarish pinched nerve (10 visits to the chiropractor may have helped, inconclusive) --- would love some stretches to keep this from happening ever again THANK YOU GUYS - I promote you all the time :)
I mentioned Bob and Brad to the consultant orthopaedic surgeon who will hopefully give me a new hip. He agreed with me that your content is very helpful. (UK.)
Thank you Bob and Brad for always producing such valuable information. I tried looking up that back support but perhaps I’m spelling it wrong. Did I overlook a link to it? Either way, I would appreciate the written name of it. Thank you!
Hello Bob & Brad, any advice on golfers with Spondylolisthesis? Is there a brace that one can wear during golf? The golf swing is a tricky movement for people with Spondylolisthesis. Thanks
When I had physical therapy, I didn't like the side planks either. I have spondy, too. Thank you for all these awesome videos!! I was feeling better and slacked on the exercises and next time I bent down to garden, boom to the back. Been hurting for a week already. Getting better, just slow.
Thanks for all your great videos and products. Sharing your time, effort, and expertise is such a blessing to so many. Was wondering if you could recommend the proper position for sleeping with lumbar spondylolisthesis? Mornings are my worst. Thanks.
im building a place to install a pullup bar-my back has severe arthritic changes throughout my spine along with some of the other problems youve mentioned--could you do a post on ankylosing spondylitis and what could help with severe upper neck pain( specifically- the 2 lumps on the side of the back of the head area-not sure what the area is called-also the two same type of lumps on lower back near pelvis and butt) -my pain gets severe and seems to include my left kidney-when I get a "flareup" I seem to aggravate it with what Ive been trying and I make it worse-any suggestions would be appreciated-you do a great service I think -thank you
Mine is retro, L3-L4. My routine is cat/cow for 50 reps, glute raises, plank all directions, single leg hip thrusts 50 reps, upward/downward facing dog, hip stretches, then horse stance for 10 minutes.
I have grade 2 spondylolisthesis with severe spinal stenosis and severe foraminal stenosis L5S1 I do need surgery. I cannot lie flat so I sleep in a recliner. I have to use a walker now. My PT has given me some ab exercises quite different from what you show here. Wish I could send you a pic of my MRI.
Im going try the ball, my spondy was nearly silent 25 years, usual ache and pain , but in 22 till 24 i lost a bunch weight, wow pain got worse, in fact crippling , not better as i hoped ?? Ever seen that guys ??; any theory?? Big gut pulled spine forward?? I got gut pain, lower back, can lay to sleep, any suggestions???
At age 17 I was diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis in both of my legs. Also, I couldn’t walk. Had a CAT scan and a MRI in one day. Doctor said he didn’t want to do surgery. Because I was too young. They put me into Physical therapy for 6 to 8. Months. One of the exercises was swimming. Now at 54 yrs old I still have some issues. Also deal with sciatica on my right leg. Trying to find exercises that would work to with both Spondy & sciatica. Any suggestions?
QUESTION. Bob and Brad talk about his bad disk, his body got rid of it. Autophagy, that's a good reason to fast past 16 hours, I'm at 38 hours now. If my vertebra fuse out of alignment?
X-ray at chiropractor shows spondylolisthesis. Right now, my entire back and neck get extremely achy when lying on a carpeted floor, even with a mat and cushion on it; can only lay on back on my firm mattress with a medium-firm tempur-pedic mattress topper. Is it okay to do these exercises on this particular surface?
I have grade 1 spondylolisthesis. I imagine it’s from loss of a little disc height. My L5S1 is dried up, has a broad based disc bulge, and a couple radial fissures all the way through. Flexing is bad for my disc and extension you say is bad for my spondylolisthesis so how do I determine a therapy plan? It seems like everything is bad for me. I’m trying to decrease pain, increase quality of life, and avoid ever needing surgery. Thank you.
I had a slip and fall in 2015 injuring my L4, L5 among other things, one of the diagnosis is this spondylosis, I developed eczema which I never had before, I thought it was from my nerves but I researched some triggers for eczema and for that having spondylosis is one of them, having dealt with this back issue for years now I found that I get a flare up of eczema right before my back pain escalates. Which I now need another epidural. I’m just wondering if you ever heard of this issue, three doctors told me it’s not possible and they never heard of it. But I know What I’m experiencing in my body.
I have a question been watching for years. I usually put my body in the Mckinnesie method with my body in sphinx. I have spondy and it helps my back feel better. Am I harming my back? Please answer! Great show!
I have this in L5 but also I recently found out I've been standing with a posterior pelvic tilt so it always appears I have no butt. Any tips for this combination?
I'm confused. If the idea is to put space between the vertebrae, I get that you don't want to do a McKenzie extension exercise because it forces the bones to squeeze together. But at 3:50, Bob says you don't want to reach above your head. Why not? You're not doing an extension of the lower back, you're just reaching up which assists with spacing between the vertebrae. What am I missing here?
Just diagnosed with Spondylosthesis. I appreciate this video but I'm confused. You say not to reach above your head and then show reaching way above the head with the handles for the hanging. I'm feeling paranoid all the time about what I should and shouldn't be doing as I don't want to make it worse. Diagnosed at level 2.
I appreciate all of the great information for spondylolisthesis. I was diagnosed with L5-S1 some years ago and have been able to manage with core exercises and your information is so valuable. On the lumbar support, I read McKenzie book on back pain and he recommends lumbar roll. Based upon your experiences, would that be too much extension versus the kebodo-type support? Thank you again.
Four months ago l was told my problem was spondylolisthesis, indeed a scary name, and put on exercises. A conditon unknown to my Kikuyu community. Am happy to say that due to the various exercises both of you have demonstrated, morning stiffness, pains, aches have been minimised. Thank you for removing fear of the unknown through sharing your own experiences and making it known that this is a long term healing journey. God bless you.
Does spondy progress no matter what? Does exercise and spine healthy living only delay a grade 1 from becoming grade 2 and so on? In other words, can I intervene to make it not get any worse?
Anterolisthesis vs spondylolisthesis? Would you suggest this ball routine if my MRI showed anterolisthesis L4 on L5 of 7mm? I'm not getting much relief from pelvic tilts and bridge exercises.
Sir I am 33yrs old. Recently I have been diagnosed with spondylolisthesis l5-s1. Can I sleep on my stomach having pelow under the chest. In my daily life I have to do lots of things that requires forward bending. Can you tell me what postures are strictly prohibited for me.
I am 70 years old asian woman. I am suffering from osteoporosis and spondylolisthesis . At the exercise for for bothe ostepororis and spondylolisthesis the same?
doc... "" c3-4 c4-5 c5-6 mild posterior disc bulge seen indenting the anterior thecal sac without neural compromise "" this is my scan report what should I do??? The other doctor gave me tablets that didn't work please suggest me something I'm suffering from shoulder pain, rhomboid pain (also feels like pulling when I try look left downwards) upper back pain ( feels tight and hurts when I try to look up) almost 2 to 3 years by now.
I tripped and fell a month ago & suffered a compression fracture on my L4. My back & pelvis feels weak especially when I walk. Will the fracture mend? What kind of exercises can I do?
I don't have this problem - nor do I want to develop back problems at age 70. You recommended within this and in other video hanging. I have a shoulder problem and avoid over the head weight bearing stuff. Would an inversion table help keep my spine/vertebrae healthy? Also in a recent video you talked about knee ligaments sometimes repairing themselves. If I had a torn rotator could it heal on it's own?
Brad…I also have spondylolisthesis. I HAVE to sleep on my back which is awful…with a small foam wedge under hips. I’ve been doing this for six months and my sleep sucks. Some nights I do go to recliner to manage pain in hips. I need more sleeping tips. I would think that foam mattress would make me sweat???
Actually it is Brad with Spondy, but mine is 90 % healed but this took time and proper exercises and daily habits. If you want to learn my story and advice watch my Spondy video playlist on youtube. I wish you well. Brad
i have spondy but also {in the last several months} VERY tight psoas on and off. are all of these safe w tight psoas? or will it make it worse? -i think im just weak 🤦🏼♀️
Wait wait wait ... I am hearing under your breath that your back is fused now S1-L5. A Ukrainian gal said the same, doctors were hard to come by, back in the day in Crimea, she walked on all fours for almost a year, then she got up and started walking again. She later went to her doctor. he told her back had fused. I am sure my surgeon does not want to hear that. So in time, your body will take care of itself?
Question. Is this the same thing as ankylosing spondylitis? My dad has that. And my back feels just like you describe. Are they the same thing? Minus the autoimmune component for this? Edit: typo
@@sheilasmith1109 Harsh answer to an honest question. If anyone else has a nicer way of responding, possibly with an explanation, I'd love to hear. From someone else.
No the two are different. I have spondylolisthesis with a pars fracture as well the ankylosing type basically calcifies the spinal column. Some specialist referred to it as a bamboo tube since since all the vertebrae get rigid and you really can't move hardly anything. Google ankylosis on RU-vid I've found a few good videos on it
@@ericmccann21 Okay, thank you for the information and the kind response. I'll look it up again. My dad has the ankylosing kind. Apparently it's likely genetic. I don't know what I have. Aside from scoliosis and disc degeneration and bone spurs and arthritis. That much was diagnosed. I know that I hurt from all the same things that Brad does. So, I don't know what else is going on in there. I just know that I hurt. I'm sorry that you hurt, too. Hugs.
@@anyascelticcreations yes mine condition started this year and for a while I thought it wasn't going to so bad but I just returned from a long road trip for a family members funeral and the driving for days did a number on me lol. For a good video on spondy and ankylosing type look up a video on the motivational doctor RU-vid page Dr Mandel. He's a great doctor and puts out good videos. Also check out the channels by Bob and Brad and Dr Remy. They both have a lot of good videos for spondy sufferers. I wish I had more resources to share for what type your dad has. It looks like it can be so debilitating in the advanced stages
