“The game is growing a lot” Paige Bueckers on Caitlin Clark & the WNBA Rookie Class 

Many of Caitlin fans are focused just on her. This is one of the differences between basketball fans and Caitlin fans. Many basketball fans gave the W a chance this season because they enjoyed the Women's college tournament. Those fans have found tremendous players in the league and are watching video of greats who have retired. Many who only watch Cailin are in a silo. They don't appreciate the competition of the game. They want Caitlin to dominate. They don't care if the Fever loses as long as Caitlin has great stats. Real basketball fans understand that the best don't care about stats, they want to win ships and it is when those players raise the levels of other players is when ships are often won. Caitlin fans can't watch any other player without mentioning Caitlin. Yesterday, Jewell Loyd and Seattle beat the Fever. Loyd was hit in the eye in the first quarter. Her eye swelled and she left the game for nearly a quarter. Came back and still was draining 3s. It was an amazing performance BUT Caitlin fans can not appreciate that, they talked about Caitlin stats, dissed her teammates and coaches as the Fever lost. Basketball fans acknowledge that Caitlin is finding her way and becoming more consistent and very impressed by Jewell.

@@highlogic518 - Caitlin "fans" are not great fans of the sport. They are always complaining that b/c they "paid to watch Clark shoot logo 3s" that: 1) stop fouling her, 2) stop double teaming her, 3) she should always have the ball in her hands, 4) that she should shoot as often as she wants, 5) fire the coach, and 6) trade the players. Ummm ... not only is that not good basketball, some of that isn't even good "sports." I strongly suspect a ton of these people are gamblers. I suspect CC's rise in popularity is strongly tied to legalized gambling. I mean, if you bet on her for at least 20 pts/game, that seems like a sound bet for your parlay. Eh ...I hope they are taking to the cleaners in the games she scores under 20. Serves them right.

​@@highlogic518 They are not just randoms basketball fans. She attracts too many ignorants. She plays more minutes than everyone else in the team, but her fans are mad because the coach didn't let her play more than 39 minutes today. They say her teammates Mitchell needs to stop shooting and start letting Caitlin shoot, but they don't know the fact that Mitchell has higher percentage shooting in both 2p and 3p than Caitlin. I think it is more of ignorance because they don't care about learning fact. It is like being delusional
