You notice that the audience at the auction are all older guys, who would probably preffered the more old guy type hot rod. Lower front, higher rear, big fatties on the rear, skinnys on the front.

Well I would agree with you; but you have to understand that it's about being Period Correct on a Classic Car like this and in 1948 Flat Black would have been the factory color.
