CANTO 2023, a multilingual multicultural international travelling poetry festival, was held across New Delhi and Kolkata from 15th to 19th March 2023.
This session featured Jeet Thayil, renowned poet, novelist & recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award, in conversation with John Wilkinson, revered poet, scholar & Director of U.Chicago’s Program in Creative Writing, where they discussed poetry as a ‘protected space’, the significance of addiction to capitalist culture and the challenges faced by Indian poets & writers in negotiating the pitfalls of the global market.
