Born in 62, I imagine I saw this movie at a very young age and it, Mr. Poitier, and this song are deeply etched in my mind. As I sat at a winery today enjoying sunshine, wine and some blues.. 3 notes by the bass player jogged my memory back to this song. When I arrived home I looked this up and that’s what brought me here. If I was at a club and the band played this as well as this group-I’d just might come to tears! Well done!
Wowzer ! Lulu and Sydney would approve. I loved the 3rd verse and didn't know it existed. You ALL are so wonderful. How many music acts are still performing nearly 60 years later...and still young ! Much Love from Montana .
I was never a big fan. I did have "Indian Lake" as a kid on 45. I am rediscovering them now. I've been Cowsill binging for a week now. All I can say is God bless you guys for keeping this music alive.
I love the family banter here! Its great she "got her song" and a respectable solo career identity. With all due respect to Lulu and not pretending to know Susan Cowsill, in regularly performing the third verse, imvho Susan owns this song! In addition to her beautiful voice, I love watching her hands. In this performance, they start in her pockets and belt loops and unfold a story from there. Thanks for sharing!
Susan does a great job on this song. To make it even more dynamic, Id have the band being adding " Ah's" in 3 part harmony when they go into the chorus and maybe some harmonized "oohs" and the 2nd and 3rd verse behind Susan's lead vocal. They have the voices in the band, I don't know why they didn't give her background vocal support on this .
Let us embrace diversity as Sidney did when he taught his students about love and caring for one another when racism ran rampant in our country please feel this song deep in your soul as Susan spillls out her heart it’s a beautiful piece of music
I was leaving my best friends and we plannec to move to California and after rex passed in 1997 packed my car_ no job no place to stsy and no job.got a jib at universal studios and iworked in movies started out as a p.a. and even did some acting got as high as second a,d. Even did screen test
I don't think Lulu's ass is "kickable" by any vocalist, but comparing the two is silly. They're both rather iconic, but just different. One thing doesn't always have to be better or worse.
@@BasementBerean Okay, I accept your challenge. Let's set up a cage match. Susan will TROUNCE your old Lulu granny. And I have a couple of little people (midgets) who will tag-team anything else you've got, buddy. Is it a deal?
