Eastway Electrical and Schneider Electric presents: The Delroy The Spark Live Event.
Join Delroy for an evening of electrical entertainment and discussion.
What the night will include:
• A screening of a special feature length episode of Delroy’s Eastway Electrical Vlog
• A screening of Delroy’s electrical biography
• A live Q&A with Delroy himself
• Giveaway’s courtesy of our fantastic partners Schneider Electric
About the feature length episode:
Delroy was called to do a straightforward EICR and some fault-finding for a property in East London. He carried out the EICR and fault finding and made the decision that some partial rewiring would solve the customers issues.
As Delroy began working on the installation; he discovered some of the worst electrical work he has seen in nearly 50 years in the trade. The episode, that’s is over an hour long, documents the discovery and rectification of some shocking electrical work.
Biography Screening
Delroy started out in the electrical trade in 1972 as an apprentice. Since then he has worked 1000’s of properties in London. On the night you will see an exclusive bio screening showcasing the story of Delroy’s career. You will see some of the buildings he worked on during the 1970s and 1980s and much more.
Event Details
Date: Sunday 14 November 2021
Time: 6PM - 9PM

Watching your video you never mentioned nothing about the Earth clip round the incoming supply. It looks like a typical installation where the dno have not provided an earth. Where somebody has placed adjustable Earth clip round the lead cable. If the dno have not provided an earth then this earth clip is not acceptable. Does this installation meet the current edition of the regulations.??
@garrett69
@garrett69 3 года назад
It looks like a TN-S supply where the earth is separated out at the property. You will find that most properties up until probably the late 1970's have this arrangement

06:18 To glue something lightly so that it can be pried loose later, you might try rubber cement or a tiny dab of contact cement. (At least that's what they're called in America.) If you use contact cement and *don't* follow the instructions -- don't apply 2 layers, but just one small dab -- you get something that will stick to anything but can be peeled loose. Handy for many purposes.

Very neat trunking and a neat job all round del. was that the woman asking when is the sockets going to be on? Unbelievable. I haven't seen one of them old mem fuse boxes for years, I think they tried to copy wylex as wylex had such a monopoly years ago. Some of them old mem fuse carriers used to be lethal because the coloured caps would fall off the front and expose the screws that were holding the brass teeth on the fuse carrier and would be live.

5:45 v rare long screw gas pipe jointing technique spotted.
@Ragnar8504
@Ragnar8504 3 года назад
Noticed that... but why did they do it in that spot? It's right at the end of the pipe, just the short bit of straight pipe between the coupler and the cooker connection. I thought the long screw technique was only used to splice into the middle of a continuous run of threaded pipe because it allows you to thread a coupler all the way onto the existing pipe, out of the way.

@Mattja1
@Mattja1 3 года назад
Take a look at 16:45, as you can see there the stripped part is inside the isolator so probably it was just too tight for the outer sheathing to fit all the way to the terminals. A bit of tape or just marking L and N on the tails would be a good idea, but it's fairly clear which is which by glancing up at the coloured outgoing tails the other side of the isolator.

Might be a bit late to the party but I've noticed that you didn't use ferrules at the oven end of the stranded oven cable. Does the oven have special clamps that don't require ferrules? I've had quite a few connections come loose without them, so now I always just put a ferrule on the end of stranded wire even when I just want to put it into a Wago or something like that. What's your experience with that stuff? Of course, not putting on anything is still way better than tinning the end with a soldering iron like some DIYers do... Most don't realize that the tin is just going to flow under pressure, which ruins the joint after a few weeks or months.

£20-£30? For a decent brand? You're having a laugh mate. Unless you're fitting cheap Chinese copies that don't actually work? Apart from which, they're not really necessary, the idea only came about for domestic installations because of a few isolated cases of lightning strike damaging property, which by the way are extremely rare. You're talking a 3 figure investment for a one use only piece of kit that you cannot reliably test.
@jasonhowe1697
@jasonhowe1697 3 года назад
I find Del that if you want wire shit up to a modern RCD type fuse you best to upgrade the internal wiring.. with grandfathering applied to electrical standards would not comply today's safety standard.. whilst you might get away with a lighting circuit running 10-20 daisy chained lights you really shouldn't do this on power point because the rcd can't deal with current overload not the old fuses were designed back in the 50's60's used up until the early 90's.. It is a quicker to double-quad gang power point/light sockets (fly by night cowboy/home owner) instead of the proper way to run it to a 50-100 fuse board panel.. current practice in the UK it seems to use 5-6 fuse boards dotted around the home of may be 5-10 fuses per board as they have expanded or divided the home space it is cheaper to be an idiot sparky pay dollar to do an install however cheap out and cut corners and keeping you in business fixing stupid mistakes looking at old council estates now in private hands.. sadly old wiring practices tend not to do well on modern rcd's and as typical what should realistically have 1 double gang on it has several and overloads the fuse personally del if it were me I would of yanked out the whole lot reused some of the components if plausible to do so Personally starting from a blank slate is the best practice in these situations as it a guarantee what is in place is likely fine in a domestic situations in a retail outlet likr a cafe/diner/restaurant application more industrial setup is a warranted install to be in code because it is a guarantee there likely over loaded circuit in play on this site
