The powers-that-be on Grey’s may be unaware that they are perpetuating dysfunction and insinuating hopelessness in the lesbian community. I sometimes think that the writers and producers of this show do not take a responsible look at how they are affecting the global perception of lesbian relationships. The emotional suspense during the course of television relationships is a well-worn formula with viewers. However, when straight couples break up on tv, the audience’s emotional investment is tempered with an indelible history of heterosexual relationships as the societal norm. The course of heterosexual relationships, together or not, is familiar and expected. But the same is not true in lesbian relationships. We have yet to see a lesbian couple on television (exception: the parents on The Fosters) forge a relationship by pushing through the difficult periods in a relationship and functionally stay together. Lesbians and their advocates throughout the world are still waiting, sometimes impatiently, for the norm to include lesbian couples. Shonda is likely a brilliant and thoughtful person who has mastered the formula and I applaud her and all who are involved with Grey’s. It just may be time to widen the inclusion path to give tv viewers a more realistic look at the success of ALL relational communities. It could be a powerful message of hope to those who are imploring to be positively seen from this hugely influential platform.

@@aekelly I feel it is healthy to think to let live as wished..things are changing .living in a corporate world no time to think about others .simply ignore things when it doesn't affect your business sharing caring is the foremost goal.

Meredith left because Ellen pompei wanted to produce the show not act in it any more this show is still one of ABCs flagships they are not letting it go without a fight even without Ellen.

Ellen hasn't fully left yet, she will be in a few episodes yet.

SO PISSED! I feel like the writers have been playing us since they met. I hope Amelia gets her happy ending once this show wraps up.

I don't know why the writers are doing this. To me they're making Kai a villain. They don't even seem like the decision was even hard for them. And yeah, I can understand why they would want Amelia to be happy for them, but they're portraying them as not even being conflicted about it, which if you love someone, it should be. Just my two cents. I also don't know if E.R. Fightmaster wanted to do other things, but to bring on a non-binary character just to ax them so soon....it just stinks all around.

​@circusbysilk I can totally see that tho. The reason I found Kai awkward was I found the character kind of stiff. They were awkward to me, not unattractive tho. The no kids thing maybe would be an issue continuously. Also the 2 of them are really in diff places. Ughhhh drama.

@@LetraxiaEdits oh, yeah. Kai doesn't accept that Amelia has a kid and wants/needs stability, whereas Amelia is just too needy for Kai's needs. Kai is now at a period of career development and is in no way, shape or form ready to settle down. Amelia is at least on that path- she's already more established in her career than Kai is. Amelia is already a mom and is co-parenting with Link. What Amelia is lacking is the type of stability that comes with a partner, who's not as emotionally distant as Kai is and accepts her for who she is, but also is not suffocating her like Link was with his demands to "do it right" . Amelia is suffocating Kai, whereas Kai is toying with Amelia's emotions by giving her crums. So, yeah- they're the worst couple on the show.

​@@yoanapatrishkova5341 I get you, and I kinda agree but I mean, Maggie and Winston for example, or Teddy and Owen were fighting all season, so it's hard for me to see them as "the worst" right now. And don't get me wrong I love both couples! But most kaimelia scenes were wholesome

@@LetraxiaEdits Teddy and Owen are endgame even though I ain't a fan of them fighting. Now we do see a great improvement from the crisis they had, because theirs ultimate goal is the same, but the way they went about it wasn't and that was the problem. Owen will forever have this "on the field" mentality, while Teddy can separate herself from who she was at war and who she needs to be now. Maggie and Winston were not gonna last even if the actress had stayed. So that left Kai and Amelia as a couple that aren't necessarily healthy.

amelia was written as a queer character from the start (back in private practice) and then was fully confirmed in like season 15 with her crush on carina so it’s not like they just decided that

It literally is not at all. They just used they/them pronouns as normally as she/her or he/him pronouns the entire 20 minute video and nobody had any problem.
