I ride my bicycle in the NYC borough of the Bronx along the entirety of the Grand Concourse, stopping by the Fordham Road commercial district. This is during the first weekend of the "Phase 1" Reopening of NYC from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

You can tell you are an experienced bike rider in NY (The Bronx). On the corner of Grand Concourse & Fordham Rd- PC Richard's & Marshall sign is where Alexander's Department store used to be. How many reader's remember Alexander's & shopping there, Lol!! I remember taking the # 1 or 2 bus up the Concourse to go home from my grandmother's apt. And you are riding before the riots & looting. I watched another RU-vidr and he showed how people literally tore up Fordham Rd area and 188th St Valentine Ave!! Crazy!! So I am glad you got to do this ride before all of that. Brilliant video. Grew up in the South Bronx in the 50s. The Concourse was known as the home of the wealthy. Back in the day Bungalow Bar and Good Humor were the competing icecream trucks.

Hi, Action kid great review of the bronx , yes I grew up in the Bronx in the southern blvd area also BRYANT AREA. I now live in the CastleHill Area now. Fordham it's a lot lively or wildly which ever you want to put it but I guess we're use to it and yes they can be very aggressive driving and motorcycles out there but happy to see you are being careful and with this locke down staying Home it is nice seeing store opening little by little I've haven't been to Fordham in so Long that is was nice to the store a again😁🤗👋👋👋Take care & Be Safe & Be Careful😍

I came from Phelham parkway the Bronx and shopped on Fordham road ,it was beautiful and clean. There were little boutique shops the famous Alexander's department store. People were well dressed and well behaved. What I saw from this Video was how much it changed has, garbage badges on the streets, vendors selling food displayed on folding tables out In the open. With the Covid -19 pandemic this very dangerous, should not be allowed . People sitting on benches no distancing. This is not Bronx I remember. It was known as "The Beautiful Bronx." You would never know that from watching this Video. Why can't the people who live and shop there, keep it clean. It looks Bangladesh. There are still some nice places, like Pelham bay, Pelham Parkway and Riverdale. I hope they will remain that way.

AK, another great ride through my old stomping grounds. I do have a comment about your definition of "South Bronx". Wikipedia states that the term is not well defined. However, a government funded study of the area by NYU in 2009 gives the borders as the East and Harlem Rivers, Westchester Creek and on the north the Cross Bronx Expressway. For much of the expressway's course the street closest to it is 175th Street. Also, your definition using Fordham Road (~190th Street) as the north-south division would put Little Italy of Arthur Ave. in the South Bronx which would certainly shock the shop and restaurant owners who have been there for generations. Most importantly, I grew up on 180th Street and never was told I was a South Bronxite. Keep up the good work.

Need more jersey barriers to protect the bike lane. Until this is done, the bike lane will still be used to pass double parked cars. NYC has way too much standard parking that should be converted to loading for delivery/taxi/uber. NYCDOT still dragging their feet instead of implementing tough solutions that'll make entitled people angry.
