AlphaCentauriA1 If you take from the W, then you would also have to take from the N as well because the W is not it’s own line. It is staffed and scheduled as part of the N, and uses the N train crews and cars.
BenTheMiner / Minecraft & More R160A is built by Alstom, and has loud door motors (most noticeable difference). R160B is built by Kawasaki, and they are the only ones to be available with Siemens traction motors.
There is R160A that has the loud door motors, and the motor with similarities towards the R142's, and R160B Alstom that is an R160B with Alstom motors, instead of Siemens motors, and the R160B Siemens, which is an R160B with Siemens motors. R160A's are assigned to the (C), (E), (F), (J), (L), (M), (N), (Q), & (W) Trains. R160B's with Alstom motors are assigned to the (E), (F), (N), (Q), & (W) Trains. R160B's with Siemens motors are assigned to the (N), (Q), & (W) Trains. The Alstom motors have a stepping sound, while the Siemens motors have a smoother rolling sound.
All the Siemens cars are in Coney Island Yard and run on the N, Q, and W trains. Jamaica Yard only has Alstom cars and East New York has the 4 car sets which only have Alstom propulsion.
Kevin B Totally agree with you and Dawan Pascoe. R160s should DEFINITELY go on EVERY IND and BMT line. Funny fact: My dads name is Kevin Balfe. LOLOLOL
Mei Ren I mean ALL BMT/IND lines has to be recorded since its a Automated System, that might be a Extra Train for another line than the one is Usually Assigned
The recordings are not specific to any train line. All the stations on the IND/BMT we're recorded individually. When the stations are programmed for the route the system selects the recorded station name and plays them back in sequence matching the strip map.
Normal riders that take the train to work: Whatever it’s just another D train nothing special about it Railfans: OMG ITS AN R160 D TRAIN THATS RARE AS HELL
@@morganlimes he's not, when train operator training starts, they use r160 and most of the time the use r160 in the Bronx so please stop with the "stop being an idiot" comments, UNNECESSARY.
The D train is my favorite train in the New York City subway system. I bet you can guess why. It’s been a thing of mine ever since I was a little kid. I even have a magnet on my fridge that shows the D train logo and a couple of toy D train cars That I purchased at Grand Central Station, At the museum annex
I ride the D train every day to and from work. Man, I really wish the line would get these newer train models. Everyone always talks about how the East Side of Manhattan is overcrowded, but as someone who rode the 2 from the Bronx and Manhattan, and now the D, I can say the West Side needs some help too. I've had to wait for 3-4 trains until I can actually squeeze on one to get back home. The older models on the D don't use the space efficiently at all.
Maybe not a good idea as of yet; but I’d suggest a input rush hour from Coney Island Yard. However I rather have the R68/A on the B/D trains. Once again the R160 for the B/D should just be an input rush hour from CI yard. Leave the 68s alone. Transportation hub made a video regarding a tease of the R211; he said it’d be possible for the R211 to go to the B/D as a balanced possibility but we’d see at the end
I never understood as to why the concourse line was never extended past its current terminus at 205 st. The D can be extended to Bay Plaza/co-op city as its is busy part of the bronx that has no direct train access.
@@NewEra1458 Can't do that as the 5 is on an old track line that predated MTA so that be more trouble than it should. While the 6 would have to remodel pelham bay park station completely and add new track that would have to cross the New England expressway, Pelham parkway, Hutchinson River parkway and have to put an elevated station likely in Bay plaza.
Alrucards Money dried up before they could dig the tunnels. However, it was cheaper to use the New York Westchester Boston ROW for subway service instead.
nice catch of the R160 D train and it seems this R160 D train is a mixed alstom and Siemens set running as an extra train alongside the Concourse/Jerome Yard R68s or R68A since the B train goes up to the Bronx during Rush Hours
EpicThe112 No, u mean R160B, You can tell by its number xd and those R160B Sets where only there Temporarily to add extra trains because of heavily packed stations due to Woman's March, these R160B are based on Coney Island
dam the r160s on the D look hot, all the train operators were driving them fast too, they should steal them from the Q so the Q can get r68s back from the D again
I saw that D train this morning in out of service and also a rare A train just like that D Train in the video I want to see this train in action more times
There is even R160B Siemens in this video of this action, operating on the (D) Train. That is also very exclusive, because those are only in the Coney Island Yard, and those operate on the (N), (Q), & (W) Trains. Any R160 is still very exclusive to operate the (D) Train, as for the fact that the (D) Train usually uses R68's.
So why don't they have these on the B/D yet? I'm in no hurry for them to implement these trains though, I like looking out to the sides on the seats perpendicular to the normal ones (plus I fall asleep in them more comfortably).
The only way the D train gets R160s is from Coney Island Yard! _Now that’s no longer the case as all the r160s previously there, including the Siemens sets, got moved to Jamaica yard_
Hopefully when the R179s start running on the C line its existing R160s can be used permanently on the D and stay at Concourse Yard just like how when the 4 line started using R142s it gave its existing R62s for the 3 line
Exautical The R160s the C had are not fit for the B and D since they are in 8-CAR CONSISTS. Also, the original plan for the R142 was to have the 3 use them, but was changed at last minute.
Why do the R160s look so good on the (A) and (D) trains 🥰🥰🥰 idk what the R211 assignments are gonna look like, but i like to think theres a small chance that some R211s could be assigned to jamaica yard, which could result in some r160s being displaced, possibly to the (A) and (D) lines!
Even tho I'm about 5 years late to comment, this is GREAT announcements are great but I was expecting the B line to have R160's since 5 years ago the B still served coney Island yard. But hopefully this same thing could happen with the R211's on concourse for both line since the recent swap.
I’d prefer the train to be like the train in the video because I’ve never seen these types of D train also because of the people say want the next stop is I just hear murmuring but in this I can hear it clearly
It depends on the staff per train. For example the 5 times I rode the D train the two conductors were credible and loud; however in the third ride on the D this conductor wasn’t credible; in other words just splitting off in different ways per station so
Whe i used to live near this train line i would see an occasional r160 sitting on the express track but with no passengers and of course now that i moved and dont live near this train line they are actually in service haha
