A lot of adventures these trains go through to get to the 7 line,The 2 train then to Jerome Avenue 4 & to Bedford Park Blvd to The D line to Brooklyn Atlantic Avenue Pacific Street. Going on the N, line to Queens plaza Number 7 line wow! It's great when you're there to see it in 🎬 action! ☺
Derrick Tan Not happening, since they have CBTC and are in 11-car train (one 5-car set and one 6-car set). Those cars can’t be used on lines that have no CBTC and have platforms less than 565 feet (or 11 51-foot cars, plus some room for overrun).
redphone243 most r160 already look older than what they should because of all the rust that the car bodies have but they are only a little bit more than 10 years old. I think they should clean them throughly or paint them idk just my opinion
There Must Have Been A lot Of Wrong Railing And Switching Needed To Transfer A Set Of R188’s Because I Think The Only Line That Connects To The Flushing Line Is The BMT Astoria Line
That is correct the only connection from the 7 to any other part of the system is the double crossover on the upper level of Queensboro Plaza. Most of the major maintenance on the 7 line equipment has been done at Coney Island which is served directly by several BMT lines but there have been several transfers from other IRT yards back to Corona requiring a lot of reverse moves due to the limited number of connections between A and B divisions. BTW the platforms the N/W use at Queensboro Plaza once were used by Second Avenue elevated trains before that line was abandoned in 1942 and the BMT trains rerouted in 1949. That double crossover was formerly used to get cars to and from IRT shops before that time. It was difficult to get steel subway cars on and off the Flushing line due to weight restrictions on the elevated structures which were not intended for them.
@@theawesomegamer6937 They are essentially the same thing as the R142A, with technological advancements necessary for CBTC. They even share the same eargasmic propulsion. There is no reason to hate it. As said above, you are probably butthurt the R142A's got taken off the 6
South to Manhattan on the 5 line reverse northbound on the 4 to Concourse Yard then down the D line into Brooklyn then another reverse move northbound over the N to Queensboro Plaza then use the double crossover back to the 7.
That's why Coney Island shops were the usual facility for any repairs Corona couldn't handle for many years after the Second Avenue line was abandoned in 1942 which was the only direct route to the IRT shops. Nowadays it's possible that some repairs have to be sent to 207th St. which is more difficult to reach requiring reverse moves and use of switches not used for regular service. The same applies to the IRT shops in the Bronx which I would expect to have the same capabilities as Corona does they all send their major repairs to either 207th or CI which can fix anything that needs repair on any car in the system. The other place where the A and B divisions interchange which has third rail is at 207th St. yard which has a connection to the 1 line which was built in 1988. There is another connection between the 3 and L lines and Linden Yard (track facility) in Brooklyn but that does not have third rail as only diesel powered work trains use it. That yard also has a connection to the LIRR Bay Ridge freight line.
Is it me or just the windows because i'm pretty sure the R188s came in with LED Fluorescent White light Edit: It might be a lighting effect with the camera or something idk
Some of the 188s are rebuilt/updated 142s, the new buildt cars have a blue hue to their lighting. The rebuilt cars are often the first and last car of the set.
@@juandilone3905 Am I correct though Because 1,2,3 won't get the r262's but I think r142 and R142A will go to that line I'm just guessing though for the future
ophelie zieley The line now terminates at 34th Street Hudson Yards instead of Times Square. This extension, which along with the CBTC project, required 66 additional cars, opened in 2015.
Christopher Dobson Not really, since putting unreliable cars on long and busy lines like the F would decrease reliability. There was a reason why R32s, R40Ms and R2s were taken out of F line service in July 2009.
