After watching 'This Morning's' video last week on their live vegan debate, to the lady on the panel who claimed that veganism needs to be made "more accessible" and "less elite" for families with low incomes... I would love for her to see this amazing duo and their videos like this, to show her that vegans are not all 'elitists' and that we can cook plenty of recipes that are healthy and cheap!! :)
Spot on! And honestly: my grocery bill is soo much lower since I’m vegan than it was when I was buying meat. Animal products are insanely expensive, I guess people just haven’t realized how far a big bag of rice and potatoes will take you! 🍀
Nakia Gentry I know! For a long time I wasn’t a soup person but one winter came down with horrible bronchitis a couple of times. After having homemade soup, I was hooked. The stuff from cans tastes like a swirl of chemicals after you quit eating it then try it again after a long time.
@@winebox yeah, home made soup is vastly superior to tinned soup, although it does still have a place in my cupboard. 9 out of 10 times I'll just make soup myself, but on occasion I do enjoy tinned.
This is *so* inexpensive, anyone could add 2-3 items to really make it their own and still end up under 99¢: hot sauce; puréed cashews; sliced chillis.... *LOVE* this recipe!
"There's just something about a potato" says every Irish person ever. They're so perfect and homey and versatile! ♥ Thanks for the stew recipe. Love stews during the winter months.
@@10aDowningStreet not really. lentils, beans and pulses are cheaper than meat. yes if you go for vegan alternatives they tend to be pricy, but you can have a balanced diet with your normal carbs, lentils, beans and pulses.
I absolutely love this recipe. Making it now. Twice in a week lol. As a person who has been vegetarian for 20yrs and still craves that meaty texture and love gravy this is most definitely the recipe for me :) Thank you thank you so much for posting this. Can't wait to check out your other recipes!
Yo dudes, I’m back. I had some left over brown rice in the fridge as well as the stew. I put the rice in a casserole dish and poured the stew on top. Then, when it was heated through, I put it on a plate and put just a little bit of vegan butter on top. Well, OMG! It went from a belly hug to a full blown sexual food experience. Yay!!! The flavours must have done a tap dance in my fridge overnight because the flavours were so good. Thanks a million for this. Xo
It probably cost us a wee bit more for the items here in chilly Minnesota but it was worth it and I have plenty for the week. This stew is AWESOME! I have been vegan for just about 6 months now while I have gotten the hubs about 90% there. (Truth be, he’ll probably remain there but so much better than 100% carnivore that he was!) Made this stew today. Added a few green beans I had in the fridge, a tin of white kidney beans and a vegan apple sage sausage. Truly a warm belly hug! And you know it’s good when the hubs says please make sure to make this again over the winter. 😊💪🏻🌱 Thanks, Happy Pear dudes!
I have been trying and failing to make a vegan stew for years. As an Irishman this has been very frustrating. Thankyou for this receipe it is fantastic!
Made this the other night exactly as shared - except for the salt - and it still felt like a big belly hug! Absolutely delicious. So glad I found your channel!
Been meaning to make this for a while and found the time this evening. Absolutely delicious! I added some lovely fresh thyme and red split lentils. Out of every channel I watch, I cook more of your recipes than any others. Your recipes are extremely easy to follow and you always use readily available ingredients. Keep up the fantastic work guys!
I’ve made this twice since you guys uploaded the video! It’s simple, easy to throw together and a great way to use up ingredients in the house. Thanks for the tips! I never knew about the importance of sweating carrots. 😋
This is my most flavorite dish that I ever watched yous make, just vegetables lol no meat substitute. Brrilliant for when feeling a chill, it reminds me so much of coming in after school been caught in the rain and mammy has the dinner ready. Like the scene in ratatouille and the critic tries remi's ratatouille :-)
So I'd prepped all my veg but needed to wash up before going ahead and cooking this delicious looking meal. To gain some last minute advice, whilst washing up I put the video at 0.5 speed as wanted it to last around 10 minutes (time to wash up) and omg it's pretty damn funny! It's as if the lads have had a few too many to drink, gone ahead and cooked a stew, slurring their way through the video and! Still managed it in ten minutes though lads; good show haha Much love to the both of ya!
The fact that no one commented about that hilarious tiny bit of kale between your teeth makes me sad. Great recipe ! I tried cooking without oil and so far it's been a few bland, horrible tasting fails, but this one seem to make a lot of sense. Thank you !
Delicious. It's summer here in Australia but this is still a great meal. I just love the smell of fresh parsnips when you cut into them Thank you and kindest regards from Australia 🐨❤️
Love your videos. Are you not posting the recipe in the video in the comments anymore?? I look at the website but can’t always find the recipe there Thanks
Ty! This is so good. I used coconut aminos instead of Tamari and I had a Golden beet that I threw in too. did not disappoint! I'll be making this again for family
Hey guys! Loved the recepie. Since I'm only 4 months into veganism, I love findidng these new cheap delicious recepies. One question tho: I'm from Brazil and have trouble identifing the white root next to the carrots. What is it? Can someone help me out by writting it down for me? I really wanna do that stew!
Dudes, does the garlic not burn if you put it into a super-hot pan with the onions like that? Or does the immediate addition of some of the veg and putting the lid on prevent that?
I love your recipes and intend to use them but I'd be nervous about it being up so high on the cooker, can you give any advice, boys? Also is nutritional yeast gluten free? Another thing, could do you something on work lunches, perhaps wraps/sandwiches, please? Maybe stuff on Soups? Sorry, just things/questions on my mind! Not trying to sound demanding! Love you lust for life!
The twin with the "tree", can you make a video saying 33 and a third? I presume, being Irish, you have a good sense of humour! Great video! I remember the early 70's in Dublin having to survive as a vegetarian from 8 pounds a week
tamari soy sauce. If you are trying to lower sodium intake, just don't add as much salt to the recipe and let the tamari do the work. I found it at the local supermarket. Hope this helps.
