@@graemeday4195 They're often well under $1mil when they're used; and given how often they're typically refitted, they can come across as almost new. We're planning to sell our house and go liveaboard on something like that in a couple years.

The people who buy superyachts have homes that look like 5-star hotels. Or airports. Or 5-star hotels in airports. So their baseline for "homeliness" is different. See the Enes Yilmazer channels for some examples.

@@darthkek1953 Some of them do, but some actually have taste. 🤣 I've seen at least one gorgeous, high end superyacht that won an interior design award for a design brief that explicitly included the sentence, "I don't want anything in this boat to look like it came out of a magazine." It's beautiful. Check out the Mimi la Sardine sometime. It's as thoroughly designed as any of the others, but it's done with the feel of a Hamptons beach house instead of a hotel, because that's what the owner wanted.

Think i'd go owner operator and see if they could rearrange the crew cabin area into a bigger fuel system! as 300miles is a tad short range wise!
@NastyCortezian
@NastyCortezian 3 года назад
Not a bad idea
@darthkek1953
@darthkek1953 3 года назад
It's 300 miles at some kind of quick planing cruise speed, drop the speed right down and it'll rise a lot. BUT, the trouble with adding big fuel tanks to a planing yacht is you'll put on so much extra weight it can struggle to get onto the plane. So now you're moving at displacement-only speeds with a hull that isn't optimised for that. And if you're going a thousand miles, at walking speed, you're going to start to need a water maker, you'll use more storage, redundancy starts to become important, robustness needs to improve as you can't outrun bad weather, redesigns to the stern (there is a reason explorer yachts do not store tenders on the swim platform), etc. Basically if you want a long-range displacement cruiser or semi-displacement cruiser you should look at one designed like that from the hull up. There is a large array to chose from.

Love the raised side decks. Saloon feels so much larger having that extra width. Not convinced about the galley location though! With such an enormous cockpit you would have thought you’d have the galley aft with a bar facing outwards so you could serve inside and outside.
@computerbob06
@computerbob06 3 года назад
It does seem a lot of space between the sofa's! I'm sure as there's no bulkheads or walling up to the helm, Prestige could put the galley aft with a dining table opposite and sofa's around a TV behind the helm!
@josephcitizen4195

The galley location is what does it for me. The first thing I look for in these vids is the galley and location. To me the kitchen is the heart of the home and I'd want a yacht (not that I'd ever be able to afford one) w/ a big prominent galley for entertaining. I really like this boat!

Lovely tour, interesting boat. The lack of side decks means you have to have abseil-capable deckhands instead of just a guy or gal with a scrubbing groom to keep the salt off the windows. Not a problem for crews and charters, an issue for owner-operators though. Does give a HUGE amount of space inside though. For every benefit a drawback, for every drawback a benefit.

Not sure how this works for Med mooring. You pickup the ground line at the stern and bring to the bow. These lines or "slime lines" are filthy and if not careful even with traditional side decks can cover the boat in mud. This format makes this incredibly difficult to manage and would most certainly cover the boat in mud each time you return to port? Not convinced it works in practice......

I have a couple of things to say about these superyauchts. And this is just my opinion but I feel they are all show selecting very expensive materials but they are only veneers. Most are simply particle board underneath. The quality of the fit and finish is good but not intricate and their is a lot of flash and not much substance. I really enjoy your videos and respect your opinions but I don’t think many of these boats would stand the test of time and ocean living. Great to look at though👍

Very interesting boat configuration - strikes me that raised side decks would work very well in combination with folding cockpit bulwarks - the transition to side decks always looks awkward with those - but it wouldn't at all here - then you could have even more cockpit width. I'd trade some of that extra cockpit length for more saloon space with rear galley and more cockpit width. I'm sure they and others will continue to develop this idea into more configurations... Good trade-off choice in filming this!

I really enjoyed your tour of this boat. Nick, I know you hear this a lot, but you are a simple man with a simple tour for simple people. There is nothing more aggravating than someone doing one of these yacht tours that are so choppy that you have no idea how to follow them through the tour. And my top complaint is when the guide will use words that simple folks do not use in every day conversation. Especially when someone is describing flooring and they use the term: “And what you’ll find under foot is….” - for me the eye rolling begins and the exit button is pushed and I search your simple channel for simple everyday people. Just because you are hoping to reach an audience that can afford vessels like the ones you bring to the channel, they too use everyday language and don’t try to be ultra-fancy with words. Sorry; rant over.. look at your views vs. those “fancy” folks… Simple wins - thanks for remaining simple as you reach all your goals and more! Cheers from Kentucky, USA!

Great tour as always - even while at a boat show! I very much like how they did this one. The high side decks make a lot of sense; I actually really loved the center kitchen (it makes the lounge seem a lot more welcoming) with a proper fridge; and an accessible engine room. I'm also intrigued by what appears to be a regular yacht taking design cues -- like the reverse-slanted windshield -- from trawler-style boats. The same goes for the main cabin, which is midway between the main and the lower deck. I would love to see more designers do things like that because it makes so much sense. Thank you for the tour!

Always love your enthusiasm Nick, makes it so much fun to watch! But this really is a clever layout, what a whole lot more space do you get this way. Really an eye opener to build a boat this way. Could you maybe also tell me what brand is at the other side of the water, when you're on the fore deck I see a boat that has a pool or something on the fore deck. It's in your film at minute 7:15, have been trying to find out on maps from the show, as I saw it earlier in your other film on a different boat, but couldn't find anything about it.
