I watched the launch videos for the TAKE-5 and was not moved. How can it be that now I'm hearing it and LOVING what I hear? Reading your review, I understand. The mod matrix is this synth's secret weapon if you have the skills and interest to use it. This is not an "all sweet spots" synth.
JEXUS I am thinking about selling my Minilogue XD and Wavestate to fund the purchase of a Take 5. Having now had time with it, what are your feelings about this synth? There is something about the XD filter that just makes everything it creates have a certain tone that doesn't excite me. The Wavestate I do really like, but my heart lies in analogue sounds (which it can do quite well) I love all the envelope control the Wavestate has because the XD is lacking in that area. The Take 5 seems best of both worlds, as wave sequencing is not really something I need.
The Take 5, like the XD, has one filter too. However, you can get creative with the mod matrix to get some more varied textures. Listen to all the demos, find a shop where you can play one and then you will know:)

If you read the entire sentence, it says "The TAKE-5 is the first Sequential synth that sounds truly analogue, like a 1980s synth, which makes it the most vintage-sounding affordable synth Sequential has come up with in its modern history." Sorry for not being 100% clear on this, but the key word here is "affordable". The P-5 and the OB-x8 may sound more analogue indeed, but they're not in the affordable category.
I just got the rev 5 ( my first synth) and am wanting to load some patches on there, I assume I do it through the usb connection on the back but am not sure how to retrieve the sounds on the take 5? Can anyone help me out?
It's like Sequential set me up to hate this, with the fact it's five voices, short keyboard, wheels in the wrong place, a fugly design and a terrible name. And then went on to make it sound really good just to really confuse me.
