@@qwerte6948 Honesty, that's fine with me. What matters most IMO is the flavor of the card. Like....why is Illuminator Virtuoso white? Rogues shouldn't be white. Ever. IDC if Double Strike is a white/red thing. There's a blue creature in DMU with VIGILANCE ffs!

As a thank you for that I will keep it positive. 1) Thanks for showing me what to build against. 2) Despite being kind of outside your "lane" I applaud your skill in using this deck. How you played Benalia was instructive, and what you pulled out of the graveyard was also insightful. Looking forward to your take on control in the new meta (hopefully tomorrow). You've nicely distributed some effective aggro decks. How will you farm what you have unleashed?

After watching this I felt the need to build a counter to it haha. I took the idea from your mono black aggro of "always keep out Sheoldred" but went esper colors to make use of drag to the bottom without it killing Sheoldred. Also malicious malfunction and 2 essence scatter main deck for the guardian :P Strong against mono red as well with Sheoldred and faithful mending

Idk man I've already made a zombie and vampire deck that both seem competitive for the time being but you're probably right and we will wind up with whatever low to the ground deck is absolutely the best running everywhere in the format

On one drops-with the spoilered Dragon Engine and Mishra-combined with multiple one and two drops that have the ability to come back from the grave on their own-I think there's a go-wide Rakdos *non-token* aggro deck in the offing. Karna and Braids draw cards for the deck; Braids using recursive one drops or blood tokens and Karna using waves of disposable one drops to draw cards. Dragon engine gives you another source of card draw. Mishra is your big finisher. Dragon engine and Mishra combined occasionally smash the game wide open. I think it's there.

I’ve gotta say tho you should look back on boros Aggro too. The mana base is frustrating and requires thran portals, but man, my win rate with the deck is like 80%. I’ve shot up in rank from plat 2 to diamond one in one day with it. Not much different from last rotation, I just use firebrands and thalias in place of luminarch and 2 devastators and that’s the deck lol.

I know, I know. Backseat magic playing. But, I think you could work in a couple Vanquish the Horde. Great on a mana screw when the opponent is super wide on you. Just a minus of one from your two of your 4-stacks of legendaries to work a couple in there. It's pulled my butt from the fire more than once.

Everybody tripping about the potential mono w meta which scares me, too, but there are sooo many other low to the ground strategies to mess with until this is solved. Zombies, tokens, Jetmir, Vampires, clerics etc. This is a hell of a time for deckbuilding imo already made a fun low to the ground vamps/anvil deck a zombie deck that are seeing success in ~95-99% mythic

I came back to Arena, spent wildcards to make black deck so I could efficiently farm dailies and challenges to grind gold in order to get back on track with Standard as I stopped a while ago and have very few standard cards. Now, black deck is kind of bad without hook. I have no wildcards. This deck is pretty rare heavy. So.... I feel like my only resort is to succumb to playing blue djinn because it is so cheap but I feel so disgusting playing that deck.. it's the scummiest deck ever.

@@ljmill If you're not super flexible yet I would just play whatever you want in standard casual. They weight those matches so you play against people using similarly powerful decks. Make enough gold to play in limited sealed because you will get more bang for your buck. Even if you go 0-3 you break even. I have gotten like 20 packs off 400 gems that way if you actually win a lot. If you have to win most of your matches I would go aggro eith selesnya enchantments or that blue deck but I'll hate you for it. 😉 I prefer golgqri, jund, and dimir.

Does anyone hate how counter intuitive enlist is? Once you click enlist, you should click the creature you want to enlist, then it’s tapped and the rest can attack. I see cgb doing it, and that’s how I click when I’m trying to enlist all the time.

Just my opinion, Thalia is overrated. Guardian of New Benalia is a stronger card if you haven't crafted it already and gives Aggro some legs vs Controllier decks in other formats too.

I tried playing Gruul recently and got clowned by mono-black harder than I did pre-Meathook-banning. You need to draw Rending Flame to do anything against Sheoldred, and cards like Liliana and Infernal Grasp are strong against it in a way that they aren't against go-wide strategies. I think having Meathook in their deck was actually hurting mono-black against Gruul, because now they subbed in a bunch more spot removal which is way worse for big stompy and go-tall.

So long as you're still in the game, a chance exists to win. So even if it seems hopeless, there's always a reason to keep playing the game out. In that last game in particular, the opponent would have turned it around completely if they ever drew a sweeper. THAT is why they refused to "just die".

Mono Black is still the strongest deck in the format outside of Mono Blue tempo. Not sure why people think that a deck with the 2 strongest cards in the format suddenly became unplayable.

@@qwerte6948 There are a few boardwipes, Path of Peril is effective vs Monored (if awful vs Monowhite) as the Fable and Kumano tokens are hit by it, but you could also look at things like ETG effects like Doomed Dissenter to buy time until the wipes as a sideboard option? pretty sure there's a -2/-2 wipe sorcery for 3 mana too, can't remember what it's called.

Magic has become best 2 out of 3 paper rock scissor without and lizard Spock complication. Balancing act goes out the window when the Atari 2400 racing catch up code makes you draw 6+ lands in a row. What happens when you win and spam to much and they are trying to get the losing player to open their wallet.

Meh... Meathook turned Standard into midrange heaven. It kept all the aggro decks in check. Now every single "toilet gamer" is back to spamming monored and monowhite in the queue. Thanks Wizards :/ (Please note this isn't an attack on CGB at all, just on the state of the meta).

Bad CGB don't encourage the mono white aggro games! Been enjoying having less mono white in the meta. Bring on the non aggro deck, mid range, control, Jank etc it's so much more interesting and fun. Don't encourage the toilet gamer's!

just like I said aggro will thrive without meat hook in the format. You may have thought monoblack was too powerful but, mono white before that was powerful and what damn card did they take away from white? NOTHING!
