Thank you! Yes, redesigns like this are totally acceptable. In fact, redesigning classic stories and characters is a pretty common character design portfolio assignment; since the viewer already has some background on the 'story' behind the character.

I would love to see you reimagine a character that is either real or realistic! Captain jack sparrow would be fun. (including jack the monkey), inspector gadget, sally from nightmare before Christmas (your interpretation of her colours could be interesting), Mary poppins, sailor moon, Spider-Man, Willy wonka or any of the kids from Charlie and the chocolate factory, nanny McPhee, inigo montoya from the princess bride, James Bond, the joker, Lloyd and Harry from dumb and dumber, Leon the professional, pipi longstocking. This may be the most random list, haha. Hope you enjoy it.

Yes and no? I taught myself in high school and I went to an art school for my college years, but I feel like the school wasn’t that good and so I feel like I learned more on my own time more than at school haha
