I've had this bike since February myself in black. I love it man. I've done a few mods also, aesthetically and an exhaust. I don't plan on selling. It's a Gem for the collection. Enjoy!
Hi Mark, Kawasaki is having a demo tour now here in the U.S., and I got a chance to test ride the ZX6R. I have three words to describe it: fun, fun, fun! It was fitted with an Akrapovič slip-on, and sounded great; not too loud. I think you would like it. I was a little concerned that the sporty riding position might be too much for my aging 6’ 1” body (I’m older than you), but it was pretty good. I did notice a little kink in the back of my neck, but didn’t feel any pressure on my wrists. The smooth power delivery throughout the rev band surprised me, and the quick shifter is sublime. I’m going back to ride it again tomorrow! You’ve got a really nice affordable bike. Thanks for the review.
Thanks I just did a 340 mile trip round Wales in a day and I felt fine ,just my throttle hand started aching in the last hour , great bike and still love hearing it scream thanks for the comment. Mark
I think the pegs are better placed on the zx6r so you don’t get that cramped feeling, depends how tall you are I’m 5ft 10 and it’s ideal for me. I’ve been out all day on mine and never had any issues, found it comfortable.
Cody S. go for it! The only thing I found was abit of weight on wrists because of the added weight due to the position because it’s a sports bike.. but that eases whilst riding
I bought the 2018 KRT Model - absolutely love it, put a double bubble windscreen and a Racefit Growler Exhaust on it and it sounds amazing! Enjoy mate :)
kilisidean_zx I bought 2018 as well and I’m not sure if an upgrade to 2019 is worth it. I wish I could watch a comparison review. I am enjoying mine but this has some extras that are attractive.
@@markpulling12 just getting over a bad case of man flu but will be out around Wales tomorrow on the SX. That 636 is a thrilling bike, I must find a way to have one ha ha! Glad you are happy with the bike and enjoy the Easter weekend Mark 👍
I really want to try this bike out but sadly I'm still an A2 license holder for another 2 years 😭. by the way mark I bought the 2019 Ninja 650! coming this Tuesday. thanks for the review about it!
My 2 years is coming up. I had an ER6f up until February when I got knocked off it and was wrote off🙁broke my femur and fractured shoulder. Got my A test next month and I’ve put a deposit on one of these. Enjoy your 650. Will be here before you know it. Ride safe man. 👍🏻
@@jakemuntja it's been 2 weeks now, no unfortunate events. only a manufacturing defect of the electronics or the battery. but touch wood 😂. don't want to be in hospital too soon too early while I haven't even rode the motorcycle for a year 😅
I can't understand how it's Humanly possible to dislike this video..... Beautiful bike my Friend and I'm also enjoying some peace and quiet trust now to watch some of your videos 👏👏👏🎩😎
$10,800 for a brand new krt 2019 with abs out the door. Almost pulled the trigger, but I’m really excited about the RS 660 so going to wait til end of summer to see how much those sell for.
I love the 6r such a phenomenal bike for a 636c super smooth and just amazingly powerful my friend got it. Amazing review as alwasys , love your videos keep it up.
Hi Mark After watching your blog on the ninja 636 I borrowed one for the afternoon from Chris Walker abs stunning to ride in fact I found the bike exactly as you had described thinking Of trading in street triple for this beauty one of the best bikes I have ridden cheers for Your excellent review ride safe
Hi Mark, love your review and enthusiasm. I've been riding for over 20 years, had a variety of bikes and rode litre bikes but I'm living in the Philippines now. The roads aren't so good so I ride a Ninja 400 but when I leave the UK on Wednesday I'm going to listen to my heart and buy one of these over a Ninja 650 (that's my head speaking) thanks in part to your review. I'm longing for that in line 4 sound.. Enjoy your bike.
@@markpulling12 I bet it is. I can't wait to pick mine up. Just got to tell the wife 😂. I'm watching your vid for about the 5th time today just to hear that intake. Ride safe.
@@markpulling12 That's great to hear. Took me a few rides to get used to the Supersport position again but boy does this bike handle well. Have you left yours stock? I just posted a video on my channel of the 2020 bike. It's pretty much identical to yours except the new colours.
mark pulling what tail tidy did you get? I was thinking of getting a slip on but after riding it I like the stock sound and don’t want to draw too much attention to the bike with a loud pipe.
@@markpulling12 And even although Santa delivered my present nearly 4 months ago I’m still smiling. 1100 miles in, and just really starting to toy with it. The F option as opposed to the L Power. Roll on 2020 and the good weather.
Lovely bike 👍 i agree with all you say on it. I've the same tail tidy and crash bungs but not the r&g rad guard so was hoping to see that. I get about 38mpg but that's probably down to a enthusiastic riding style 😉 only other points for me would be the throttle can be a little snatchy and even though the clutch lever is adjustable i wish i could come in just a tad more. Minor points though ... s22 10/10 the brakes 10/10.... etc. Etc. 👍👍
Just what im trying to decide between now :O How is the comfort on the ninja? Will i be able to ride 2+ hours without dying? My 08 cbr 600rr killed me after an hour
@@SupaAwesomeFace wtf... then you shouldn't be riding a sportbike. The ninja is a bit better than most other 600, in my opinion it's really comfortable, but if you have that many problems with a cbr, hmmm i don't know..
Hi mark ive been thinking about getting one for a while now and after watching this review I popped in to Bournemouth Kawasaki and ordered a 2020 krt performance edition from Pete 👍👍
Great stuff I saw Pete the other day when I was in , great choice I still love mine ,what an engine, did you order it today ? What's the delivery time on it or did he have it in stock ?
Great review!. An amazing bike, will be a good collectors piece in few years time. Can you elaborate a bit in terms of ownership experience till date? In terms of Service cost, mpg, issues faced, any mods, how's it for sport touring etc etc. It'll be of great help.
Hi Harry ,interim service is no different to any other inline 4 ,think it was about £120 ,no issues at all ,it's Japanese hardly ever go wrong ,it's surprisingly ok for sport touring ,I did 300 miles in one day no probs, mpg is very good at average 47 UK gallons, only mods are tail tidy and crash bungs ... .if you are after a super exciting super sport which isn't crazy money these are utterly brilliant cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark, I'm definitely going for this, it's well within the budget and was quite surprised at how much you can use all of the power and still have quite a bit of fun. Cheers!
Mark, really enjoy your reviews which are knowledgable and very useful… but… can you stop prefixing words with “super” e.g. Super easy / Super perfect etc etc. the words don’t need “super” added to them e.g. perfect means perfect! It’s an Americanism that is pervading our language and meaningless. A lot of people do it nowadays… aargh! Keep up the excellent work 👍
Would this bike be good for new full motorcycle licence riders as I'm looking at doing my mod 1 and 2 soon and been looking at this bike for a while great review mark
Hi this is a super fast 160 plus mph bike so I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a beginner...it's quite a focused track weapon and demands to be ridden hard that being said it's very tractable and the throttle works both ways lol Would highly recommend the ninja 650 for you...it's still fast and fun ...get experience for a year or two then move up to something with more power Good luck with your biking career All the best mark
@@markpulling12 thank you for answering my question I think your spot on the 650 it is then lol keep up the good work they look very similar the 636 and 650 but now I know it's more for track ill stick to my limits witch I think ninja 650 is also a lovely bike what would you say is the best out of cbr650r or ninja 650 for the price and performance cheers mark
@@truedawglbg2074 hi the Honda is a 4 cylinder 85 ish hp vs 65 for the ninja which is a twin .... personally I like the feel and thump of the twin over the Honda ....I have a review on the Honda.... depends on the deal you get really ...the honda is faster 135 mph say vs 125 mph for the ninja but TBH as a new rider the ninja will still be very exciting for you Have a look at both and just get the one that fits you best ,like the look of ,best deal etc Cheers mark
Wot, no rear central reflector? I’m pretty sure you need one to stay legal, road worthy and perhaps insured! Don’t know about side reflectors. Just saying how it is.... Stay safe.
Do you still own this bike Mark? I'm looking at bridging the gap between a couple of RE Classic's and a Hayabusa 😂 At 52 I should know better but hey, one life. I'm considering the new model released in October. Just wondered if you enjoyed the bike throughout your ownership. Cheers.
Hi no I sold it a couple of years ago but had a fantastic time on it ... amazing machine stunning engine....id definitely say get one ...it's reasonably comfortable for a sports bike . Best Wishes mark
@@markpulling12 thanks but that's only measured values, since you've ridden both, does r6 peek power feel like a lot more? I just can't get along with the Ninjas looks, the r6 is just a beauty in comparison.
@@Aragorn13700 no peak power on full throttle feels pretty much the same on both ,it's a crazy blurr of revs and noise on both bikes , highly recommend either :)
do you think quickshifter is a musthave? I like the looks of the previous zx 6r a lot better (just the front) and the quickshifter might be the only technologie I would miss if I took the old 2018 model. . what do you think?
omegapsi847 I have the 2018 model. I honestly wish to trade for 2019 for four reasons. 1- I loved the new twin low beam, mine only one lit and the second only for high beam. It looks bad at night. 2- as you said quickshifter. But bare in mind it’s only upwards. 3- they tweaked the gear in 2019 and there is more power in low revs... it’s more fun. 4- new gauge cluster... it has fuel gauge which I miss in my 2018.
I'm 6'2" and have an '18 636, and honestly it isn't the most comfortable. You have to remain quite mindful of your posture, especially when tucking fully. Absolutely love the bike and wouldn't trade it though!
I'm thinking of this or the Cbr650f. I have been riding a 125 for a few months and just passed Mod 2 so I'm shopping for my first big bike. Which do you think will be better for daily commuting through residential roads (6 mile round trip) and weekend fun? Could you also do a video on buying old used sport bikes. I recently found that it is impossible to find even a 1980s sports bike with less than 40k miles and very good condition for less than 2k, searched through ebay, gumtree and auto trader.
Hi hands down get the cbr for all round use and commuting ,it will still blow your mind with it's power as a beginner ,the Ninja is a very focused speed demon :)
Great review. It's definitely a looker. Million dollar question. So far how does it compare to the GSXR 1000 K5 you had as you often mention it? You read my mind when I was thinking is he going to keep it? You said it was a keeper. How well does it turn in and change direction? We are similar heights so I might give it go soon. I have to admit I've never tried any Kwaka sports bike before. I reckon the ZX6R Ninja will do pretty well so all the other manufacturers will start making 600s again. It is a very good package and reasonable price. I'm waiting for Triumph to bring out the new Daytona but their response has been really pathetic saying it wouldn't sell. They say the R6 didn't sell that well so a new Daytona wouldn't either, but now Triumph is testing a new 765 Daytona in moto2? I wish they would get their bloody act together. To busy selling old retro duffer bikes. But going on your reviews of your Ninja I might give one of these a go instead. Still haven't bought a new bike yet. I was sold on the Speed Triple RS but then got side tracked by the BMW S1000R. Now it could be this one. Just too many good bikes to choose from. As you know it's not easy. I guess you don't really know until you have bought one. Is it possible to get it with a down blipper as well as up shifter? Have you still got the CBR600? Enjoy your bike! Thanks for posting.
Hi alex yes still got the old cbr, went out for a blast on it yesterday, ref turn in and change of direction id give it 8/10 but its the way it holds its line when your banked over is just amazing :) i havent seen a kawasaki option for the down blipper but that would be great if you could get that all in all a superb sports bike for the road with just the right amount of power thanks MP
Stiffer your suspension and you'll see how mutch better it turns in.Sold my 2009 repsol blade and bought 2013 zx636 tc,abs these bikes are really good👍!!!
Hi there . Yes definitely..all modern engines are super reliable these days and are capable of big mileage's ...just make sure it's serviced regularly and you won't have any problems all the best mark
Hi ...I know your bike well...it's the model which is quite track focused and likes to be in the top rev range to make it's power ( I think 🤔) This model is very different as it's 636 it has lots more bottom and mid range power plus a fun screaming top end so I'd say go for it .. or even a few years old 636: might be better value Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 You are right, very track focused, hardly any torque until you hit 8-9k rpm then it wants to go! It can be a bit tiring at times, especially overtaking traffic, having to thrash it to get the best, out of it but good fun nevertheless. I love the metallic orange of mine and Kawasaki did do an orange version of the 19 plate bike but sadly only for the US market.
Hi Bob I've ridden them all ,the ninja 636 is the one I chose because it's got more torque (pull) low down and still screams to the redline ,the r6 is very expensive new these days ,cbr600rr is awesome you can get a great used one for not too much ,I owned a 2014 model called a Leyla it was great lovely handling :)
Hi Jason the r6 is a super fast track weapon that needs to be revved hard to get the power from it ,I chose the Ninja because it has way more bottom end power which is very useful on the road ,it still has amazing handling and it's alot cheaper than the r6 new ,one test ride on the Ninja and I new I had to get one All the best mark
hey mate just wondering your inseam, i ride the ninja 300 and can barely touch both feet on the ground and i'm 5'7 aswell. is it hard to reverse this bike at your height?
@@markpulling12 thanks a lot for awnsering after a while though, couldn't find the version in the website, You got a new subscriber 🤟 how's the lady ninja going?
Hi if your going 60/70 mph it's fine because the wind blast holds you up against sore wrists ,...after about two hours your bum goes abit numb but then most bikes do ....it mainly just isn't that nice riding slowly say 30_50 mph it doesn't really feel right it likes to be ridden hard ! :) All the best mark
@@markpulling12 thanks for the feedback! may I ask how tall you are? do you know any people who ride this bike and are 6 ft. 3-ish? this is my height. I test rode the zx6r, it didnt feel super comfortable but also not uncomfortable, at least not for the first 30 minutes. had a little bit of wrist pain, but it was mainly due to poor throttle control since I wasnt used to the power. but I cant really tell how how my height will be when riding longer and more often. would be cool if Im not the only tall guy riding this bike :) thanks for the tips!
@@omegapsi847 my best mate is 6 ft 2 he's ridden my bike for about an hour and that was enough for him but he is 50 years old if you are young you may get on better ....my mate rides a tuono and he's very comfortable on it so the super naked class may be an option for you all the best mark
@@markpulling12 cant thank you enough man, just one more question: I got the navi tomtom 500, is there any place on the cockpit to clip it on to? when I test drove the zx6r I didnt pay attention to the space, the tomtom doesnt need much place, but on the internet pics it doesnt look like you can click a navivation system anywhere on the zx6r, or is it still possible in your opinion?
Hi Mark. Haven't rode for about 10 years, looking at getting back on the road. Had a CBR600 previously. Which would be a better option for me getting back in the saddle. The ninja 400 or the 636.
Hi jk ,well the 636 is very fast and has quite an extreme riding position, that being said your cbr would have had 95 ish hp,the ninja 400 is very small and easy to ride with a relaxed riding position but it only has 45 hp so you may find it a little underpowered eventually ,why not give the ninja 650 a look ,i have a review on that aswell, that might fit your needs perfectly or the new honda cbr650 which is well priced with decent power all the best mark
