A review on the stunning aprilia rs660 Kindly loaned by dearden motorcycles southampton uk deardenmotorcycles.co.uk/ PLEASE LIKE,SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE THANKS :)
I'm secretly dreaming of this bike (not that secret really). It's a fantastic looking bike, it's in a great spot size wise, and has enough power to hang with most bikes on the street at relatively sensible speeds. 💖💖👏🏼👏🏼
Beautiful bike, and one I’d happily put in the shed. Although the shed is fast becoming the size of a warehouse! Your reviews are a joy to watch Mark, all the best for Christmas hey.
loved your review and was really interested in the RS, had the opportunity to sit on the RS in a showroom and whilst stretching for the handlebars I found the tank sticks into my chest and was quite uncomfortable, I am the same height and weight as you, my toes were just able to touch the floor, I am so use to my Z900 which has a sloped tank away from the rider.
Hi Mark, as an owner of the acid gold version for the last six months I was keen to hear your opinion. It seems like your as impressed as I am. I absolutely love it and every trip out never fails to to do all the things a bike should do to our soul. I also took mine to a track day recently and it performed beautifully. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and btw I’m the same height as you and I’ve done rides for 3 or 4 hours and still feel fresh after it. Take care and Merry Xmas. 👍🏍🎄
Hi Mark. Love the vid Love the bike. One gripe don't like integrated indicators you can't see them in bright sunlight, don't know if you ever noticed on some cars you can not see them in bright light. 👍
Great review, Mark. Watched all your reviews on the Honda CB650R/CBR650R/Tuono & RS660. Being a bit late to bikes (Mid 30's), I have my DAS in September after cutting my teeth on my little 2021 Honda CB125R which has been great fun to ride. So bigger bike options were initially limited to the Honda's above as nothing in that CC/Power range really took my fancy. Plus, the inline 4 sound track and flexibility also played a part. But, now I've come across the RS660 which appears to have a similar riding position as the CBR650R looking at your vids, I.e. sporty, but not overly aggressive so remains comfortable over distance (which is one of the things I'm keen to strike a balance on), and just how good the RS sounds and looks, I think my heart is now set on the RS. Even more so as the tech and quickshifter is included as standard. Just means I need to save more money than I would need to in order to buy the Honda ☹.
@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark, I shall definitely test ride both. Especially as the Tuono looks like a similar riding position to what I'm used to at the moment being a naked. The RS does come with more Tech and the quickshifter though, which appeals to me from a safety aspect being new to bigger bikes. So when those features are added to the Tuono it makes it more expensive than the RS. Food for thought nevertheless. Cheers 👍
Nice review Mark. It’s a lovely machine, bit pricey but you do get a lot of tech with it. Sounds amazing and it goes very well. Hope you have a great Christmas sir 👍🏻🎄
@@markpulling12 You have reviewed all of competers of it but not him, it is such a fabulous motorcycle...such a shame that yahama have stopped making them....
A nice review Mark. Thank you. Regardless of money, it does make a bit more sense to get one of these than it’s big brother, which not even Rossi himself could get the most out of it in road conditions and without breaking the bank. 👍😎🇦🇺
Thanks Marcus ....I've ridden many 150/200 hp bikes on the road, fun as they are , you're only just feathering the throttle all the time 50% max otherwise you'll get in serious trouble ...these bikes make more sense because you can wind them out more .... great fun Cheers mark
Couldn't agree more Marcus road a 2017 big brother from Brisons in Newcastle (nsw) the other day same thoughts awesome power but where unless on the track. Want to try the new Tuono v4 1100 but no demos around.
Gorgeous bike from every angle Mark! And that sound :) I admit I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to Aprilia, I used to own a '99 (first series) RSV Mille in Black/grey/silver, from new, for 20 years. Never let me down, bomb-proof engine...that thing would cut corners like a razorblade. Still have fond memories of that bike. Anyway, this RS660 looks tasty as hell. If I were in the market for an (additional) bike, I would probably go for this one, in the same colors.
I've picked the bike up Mark and I mentioned your name to Julie Bentley who informed me that you've taken out the Tuono also 👍🏼 I'm well pleased with my bike. Keep up the good work mate 👊🏻🏍
Nice to watch your reviews as always Mark. Not a bike I would really ever consider. Having said this the best all round 600cc sports bike to date has been and arguably still is the Triumph Daytona 675R. I nearly bought one several years ago. I see that Aprilia have now woken up to the need for a fuel gauge rather than just relying on a temperamental fuel light when fuel was low. The rear black and orange front wheels look ............ odd.
I bought mine with 3K miles on it. Engine, chassis and drive train all tight as a drum. Went for this as I wanted to get back in to biking after a very long break.....and I admit it was a massive midlife crisis and this bike delivers on every level. Love it!
Hi Mark, Any chance you could start uploading videos in 4K? Your content is great - the only way it could be better for me is to enjoy the bikes in a higher resolution on a 4K tv :)
Mark, although sports bikes aren't my thing I do like the look of this one. Not sure about the different coloured wheels tbh but perhaps this adds character? Not a deal breaker by any means but do you know if the TFT incorporates SatNav or not? Great review as always. ATVB.
The seat looks great.....it's the black rear wheel that messes with the look. If I ever get the acid green one we can trade seats okay?! Why they would put two red wheels and a black seat on the green bothers me lol. It would have been easier for them to just have all red wheels and seats!
I love the look of sports bikes like this. But I feel like it may be a bit too much power for a beginner rider, so I haven't done much research in this category of bike. Looks like so much fun though! Would you recommend these kinds of bikes for new riders, or just as a 2nd+ bike? Looking to do some touring on the bike I get.
Hi Harrison ...as a new rider it's always tricky ...if you are sensible with the power and build up slowly you'll be ok ...it's the sports riding position that can be tricky as a new rider the tuono 660 would be a better more upright option ...but you are way better off looking at a2 45 hp bikes as a beginner ...like Honda cb500 f ,mt03 ,z400 etc ...they are very exciting as a first bike then once you've gained your skills after a couple of years get something bigger Good luck mark
May sound crazy but I’m cross shopping this with a mt09. There are pros and cons to both for me but I like how this bike has wind protection. I’m not sold if it’s exciting enough though
Would you swap your ZX6R for one? I like the toys, the looks and comfier bars, but a 100hp parallel twin doesn't really appeal. To me a sports bike should have an engine that revs and more top end power. You said a few times it's impressively fast, but does it compare to the ZX6R as it swings around towards 16k revs?
Hi ...Ive sold the zx6 now ... comparing it to the zx636 on acceleration I'd say it's 80% as impressive ...the ninja was insane as it approaches 16 k but this has more drive at like 4/5/6 k Cheers mark
Seems like a really excellent bike. Not sure about the matt paint and the over-busy dash. The wheels make it look like it's had a smash and a cheap repair job. Apart from that, lovely!
Hi Simon ...riding position/ergonomics are similar...engine I'd prefer the Aprilia ...it makes a great noise and I like it's delivery.....but the Honda is cheaper and it's reliability can't be beaten ....head says Honda ...heart says Aprilia I'd go Aprilia !! Cheers mark
Hi Mark i have a 2019 zx6r, and i know you also owned that bike, i would like your opinion on which you would enjoy owning more, the zx6r obviously has more power but as an overall package which would you choose?
Hi ultimately the zx6r is a bit more fun with it's screaming 16 k engine but as a daily ride I'd go for the Aprilia because it's more comfortable not as extreme riding position ,the engine is still fun and delivers its power lower down so it's great for the road Cheers mark
Forgot to ask, how smooth of a ride is it? Does it give a “off the ground” or levitating kind of feeling while riding it? I hear the s1000rr is smooth and i know the r7 is smooth also. I think smoothness is based off of aerodynamics, not entirely sure though.
Hi it's not knife in butter smooth like say an inline 4 feeling.. you can definitely tell it's a twin but it doesn't have annoying vibes ,just a great engine 😊
I’d consider this as much a sport bike as a Honda cbr500r. It’s a sports tourer dressed up and playing the part. That panel under the pillion seat pad is meant for a top box so this is definitely a good daily option
As someone who owns a CBR500R, this is not even in the same league. I see the RS 660 as a NEW category altogether. It's 80-85% of the way to a supersport, without bars that are too upright and too lame of an upright seating position like my 500 or a Ninja 650 as an example!
@@Blottski my first bike was a 2016 500R and I agree with your assessment. I settled on the 500 as many use that model as their step up or step down forever ride. The Aprilia 660 is a great engine with tons more power making them a more fulfilling choice. If I cared to deal with fairings again I’d consider the RS660 myself but I fear there isn’t enough of a bump from my current SV to make it worth the trouble
@@Otterplus appreciate your reply back. Can you tell the RS 660 is the bike I've (mostly) decided to upgrade to? It's between this bike or saving the cash and getting a used 13+ ZX6R or newer GSXR750. Whatever I get I will be using for the odd long distance trip.
@@Blottski out of those options your back will thank you for choosing the “softer” of the three. The GSXR models are known as the most comfortable super sport but they can’t provide the legal speed fun the parallel 660 could.
Beautiful high performance machine. I would love one but here in the states, a spotty dealer network holds back most of the European manufacturers. The nearest Aprilia dealer is four hours away, same for Moto Guzzi. BMW and Triumph? Slightly better. Only two and a half hours.
Its awesome but its big bike money! for LESS MONEY you can get a GSX-F 1000 with 150 BHP or a duke 890 or a striple 765 R or MT09 or a ducati scrambler 1100, there are a lot of ten grand bikes that are better value.. but this aprillia is more powerful and faster than most of that list.. Im so torn by this bike.. how do they get 100 BHP out of a 660..
I thought that too ....it's very good power for a 660 twin Yes the suzuki s are very good vfm I guess with the Aprilia you get something very exclusive. Cheers mark
Most countries the Suzuki is about 1500-2000 more expensive and the 890 is at the same pricepoint. Most places its on a fair pricepoint considering the competition and what you get for the money. But yes the suzuki is well priced but its also dated with a engine that is over 15 years old and well outsprung by all the other naked 1000cc bikes.
All the liveries on these should have had red front and rear wheels and red seats. The black rear wheels look dumb as does the black seat and two red wheels on the acid green ones along with the tank cowl, all should be red, no black ones on the acid green bike. If I ever get one, it will be the acid green colour and I'm changing the seat and tank cowl around the ignition key to the red ones
Unfortunately this bike wouldn't work for me...riding position, weight on the wrists etc but it looks and sounds good and seems to go really well. Not 100 percent sure about the different coloured wheels though...maybe 1 colour or the other....Nice to have the cruise as well.
Hello, I am 1.66 meters tall, I wanted to know according to my size which between this one and the CF SR 450 is the most comfortable one with the least pressure on the wrists, thank you
I own one down sized from a fireblade SP, what I like is you can use 95% of it on the road and it's fun as you say. The blade you could only use 30% boring. Did you try the individual mode alot quicker than dynamic.
Thanks lee ....yes I agree you can use most of its power which is nice . I did try individual but not much full throttle as I thought dynamic would have been the quickest ....but thanks for letting us know :)
I hope you all have good luck with your RS660. Many who own this bike have had lots of issues regarding the engine and electronics. My friend is having a terrible time with his bike, engine lights, stalling, not starting, dealing with the dealership and now excessive vibration ..... His is now looking for a lemon law lawyer. Terrible that Aprilia would release a bike with so many issues, never see a Japanese bike released with the issues I've seen with my friend and heard in the Twins cup races.
Hi terje the cbr650 is brilliant ,I've reviewed it,cheaper than this too ,it compares very well ,. I just compared this to another couple of twin cylinder bikes that came to mind whereas the cbr650 is an inline 4 cylinder Best regards mark
Great looking bike but unfortunately in Australia they are priced at $21000. Puts them at the same price as the Ducati 950 Supersport S, Suzuki GSXR-1000, and more expensive than the Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx. Sales disaster in AU from what is being reported online.
Hi I don't have the 636 anymore but the aprilia is more comfortable and great performance but the ninja is quite a bit quicker 😀 and ultimately more fun at the top end Best wishes mark
