Isn't it great that even without loads of power these Royal Enfield bikes just keep putting smiles on faces , and I think slowly people are starting to realize that being able to use everything it has rather than using 30% of available power is just more satisfying . Enjoy your bike Mark
I don't agree that revving an engine out is more satisfying than short shifting on large capacity twins. Ironically, short shifting around the quiet Chiang Rai roads could be a role for this RE.
That is entirely subjective, and not true for the majority of most riders that I know. KInd of a silly statement IMO (which is also entirely subjective). Wringing a bikes neck to safely pass a motorist is not enjoyable, nor satisfying. Not in my opinion. Having that "extra" power gives one more options to navigate the roadways safely and effectively.
@@wicksleysnipes1476 I totally understand what your saying , as someone who has ridden only sports bikes up to 3 years ago that’s I would see it , so I suppose for me and some others is, that if your riding style and what you want out of a bike has changed for some reason , then sitting behind cars for longer times and not actually thrashing the bike and just enjoying it but just be what some are looking for , it’s definitely not for everyone, I’ve always said buy a bike with your intent in mind so not to be disappointed. Enjoy your bike my friend 😊
Great Choice and review. I've just bought one in Thailand 🇹🇭 and I'm blown away how Great it is. I had a shortlist of 4 bikes to choose from ,however I test rode the hunter first and instantly fell in love with it so didn't bother looking at the other 3 bikes 😀
I love the look of this, and I think you're right Mark, it seems like the best of the 350s to me. Very tempted to get one for a B-road and town commute.
My dad rode bikes. The first one I knew was an A.J.S. 350. He rode it to work every day; about 20 miles each way. Then later, he went up to a Norton Dominator 500. Lovely bike! But the clutch was too heavy. The sound of that will stay with me forever - gorgeous!
Thanks Mark for a very good review. I think RE has come up with another winner in their stable. Great looking and sounding bike. Looking forward to test riding one. And the fact that you bought one for yourself is a good recommendation for me. Cheers, Dan ✌️🏍🇨🇦
Got my Hunter today and very impressed so far , looks and sounds great , nippy with plenty of torque , economical and comfy I love it and again sounds great and it’s really made me smile 👍 smile a lot
Congrats Mark! Can't comment on the European market but Hunter is going to be the best seller for RE. In Indian market where people are used to 125-150cc bikes, 350 RE Classic/Meteor are considered heavy bikes (may sound funny to most people here). Indians love RE but many people are hesitant to buy "heavy" bikes - given Hunter looks smaller/lighter, it is already pushing RE sales numbers to the next orbit.
So the 650 models are not so popular in India, or do I see that wrong. They sold well here in Belgium, but than the Meteor came and that went of. Later the classic did the same, so I think the Hunter is going to do the same, they are here this week.
@@Jay_Speed The market for 650 cc is very small here. Our economic reality is different. Most of the 2 wheelers sold here are 125-150cc which are very fuel efficient and cost around 1000-1500 USD. 350cc bikes are on the expensive side (around 2500$) but RE has a cult following so they sell in good numbers. 650cc motorcycles are expensive (starting 4200$) and not that fuel efficient. So you start with a small scooter/motorcycle. When you have more money, you buy a small car and upgrade your scooter to a RE 350/411. When you have more money, you get a bigger car :). Bigger bikes haven't caught the imagination of people yet.
@@Jay_Speed You'd be correct. Apart from the upfront cost, India has quite a higher (comparatively) fuel pricing so bikes with lower mileage isn't preferred by most. Add to it the fact that we got rather bad roads at places and huge traffic and speed limits in Urban areas, we can't use the full available power of a 350 most of the time, let alone a 650.
The Hunter looks amazing and is priced very well compared to overpriced competitors (if RE have any…) Perfect for A & B roads possibly out of its comfort zone on faster motorways but that’s not what this bike is about. Great review Mark, I’m really tempted 👍
Yes they have here in India Jawa & Yezdi, they have few models here (Classic legends were bought by Indian company Mahindra) but they are nowhere near RE in terms of sales. The only brand that hit the sweet spot is Honda with its Highness 350 and 350RS models, according to me the best 350 in the category.
Congrats on the purchase Mark. I am loving cruising on my Meteor Fireball on similar secondary roads in Atlantic Canada. The HNTR, as I understand, was designed for urban use. Looking forward to your downtown impression. Keep up the great work ! Cheers.
Congrats on the new bike Mark, love the colour scheme! I love the RE 350 bikes, bought a Halcyon Grey RE 350 Classic, love it & I consistently get slightly over 100mpg, lowest I've got was 91mpg. Great review as always. All the best from Canada, Cheers, Ronny
Got the same one - son got a Bronze/Chrome and buddy got a Halcyon Green. We all love them! Most fun I've had as a rider since I was a kid - in 1971! Winner bikes, and loads of fun. Almost 100MPG and nothing but joy. Ride Safe 🙏🏼
Great review as always Mark. I`ve been waiting for you to review this bike and the CB300R so I`ve been spoiled lately...cheers. Neither bike has shown up yet in showrooms in deepest Devon/Cornwall as yet , I`m waiting to get a ride on either. Both very different on performance, style and price point. I`m leaning toward the Enfield at the moment which resembles a Triumph Street Twin. The fact you bought a HNTR speaks volumes to me.
Whilst I respect the opinion of the reviewer. Having owned the classic I found it to be underpowered. Hit a headwind and the slightest incline you will struggle to mantian 50mph. With traffic nearly into your numplate. I bought the Honda. It will accelerate up hills. Return virtually the same on fuel etc. And unlike my enfield not knock and rattle and developed faults perhaps this the soul part of the bike 😊😊
Great review of the Hunter 350. I hope RE ships them to the US. I am looking at the Classic 350 or the Scram 411 for the 2023 riding season. However, if the Hunter hits our shores, then that one will be a top contender. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your new bike and have lots of fun miles on the bike!
I bought a new Supernova last May and im absolutly delighted with it. Enfield are doing a fantastic job producing these excellent little machines at a dirt cheap price,,,
Another great review Mark ☺️, hope you're pleased with your purchase. I'll be interested in viewing your longer term review of it when you've got the miles on it too see if you encounter any problems,or niggles with it. It is a bike I am considering for next year, the only thing I can't quite get my head round,is my honda cb250rs I owned in my youth was 26bhp and had a dry weight of 136kg,top speed indicated 90mph,and that was adequate. Just a pity they felt the need to restrict it too 20bhp, when a 350 should have at least 35bhp, but I spose it was done for reliability and longer service intervals.
Engine type ,, not displacement determines max power output (hp).. For a 350cc single to have more than 35hp you need it to have a short stroke, water cooled, and high compression.. The Zontes GK350 is such a bike.. 350cc single with bore/stroke ratio of 1.36 and water cooling.. This engine pushes out 38hp at 9500rpm.. though 20.2hp from 350cc eventhough it is long stroked (bore/stroke ration = 0.84),, and air-cooled seem low.. 15% more power at 23.2hp would seem feasible without loosing low end. (a camshaft change can give you these results),,
I also had a cb250rs and agree with you, it was a great bike. I suppose the reason modern bikes are generally heavier , and sometimes less powerful is euro 5. The cb250rs had no weighty electric starter, so probably had a lighter battery too, but consumers now seem to demand electric start. It didn't carry the weight of a catalytic converter or ABS and crucially didn't have to run so lean to meet emission regulations, nor were noise rules so strict. Given the restrictions I would say RE have done well to produce an air cooled engine that develops 75% of its max power at 4000 rpm which must make it very pleasant to ride.
@@baleshwarnathsharma Torque and power are both real measurements, but only power is relevant to the performance of a vehicle, since acceleration and speed are determined by power, not torque. Torque is a measure of rotational force, but such a force is meaningless until it is converted to linear motion, which is why a pair of human legs can exert 250 NM of torque to the pedals of a bicycle (more than most diesel engines) but struggle to propel that bicycle at more than 20 mph.
love the looks of all of R.E bikes and am looking into the 411 scram, 650 metro and now this 350 hunter. as all are newbie friendly by all the videos I have seen..
G'day Mark from Australia, well done buying a new Royal Enfield 350, hope you have many years of pleasure and fun on a wonderful machine, l wish that RE would reintroduced the 500cc single, that 350 stock pipe sounds fantastic, the models coming out of RE are just mind blowing, there designer are hitting the Mark, cheers mate keep safe and happy, Neil 🤠.
I want one !..Great review Mark ...I reckon the roads are destined to be full of Enfields especially this one . 100 mpg and a 350cc ,inexpensive to buy can't go wrong.
Just got back into riding after a 10 year gap. This will be a perfect bike for my needs I can't wait to get a test ride , it will be a good companion for my 125cc honda super cub. Thanks for a great review, and I hope you enjoy your new bike 👍
That's a great looking bike! I, like you, like the little touches, the cable guide for the clutch cable, the almost hidden usb, the simple dash. The riding position looks great with the pegs almost under you. Very Honda! Enjoy your new toy Mark!
Just picked up a 2023 Hunter 350 in the Rebel Blue. I believe, Royal Enfield has simply hit a home run with this bike. It is what a motorcycle should be; heaps of fun.
Headlight needs a visor for me. Haven’t seen these in person yet that blue and white on yes indeed. Love that red and black too it’s difficult to decide just an all around awesome bike they really nailed it.
What a fantastic review! I adore this bike (especially the color trim that you selected!). I'm stuck between this and the Kawasaki z400 (arguably more reliable, slipper clutch, 35 lbs LESS weight, 100%+ more power, 50%+ more torque/nm, slightly more expensive, worse MPG, UGLY AS SIN). Hopefully, the Hunter will be available soon in the USA!
Royal Enfield nailed it. 👍 Their strategy is to sell bikes that people want: good-looking simple reliable practical and economical. Motorcycling particularly in the West lost its original point and character and only became a chase after ever stronger and faster machines that the manufacturers are promoting. Royal Enfield bring back common sense common sense into motorcycling. I am sure Hunter 350 will appeal to many riders on all continents. It will be a strong seller.
I've had the Meteor 350 for a year now, I put in a different airbox and air filter, and after the machine was worn in, it came to life! I think the Hunter might make good scrambler-type project.
I've just got the RE Hunter 350 , I'm very happy still running the bike , I part ex my Yamaha YBR 125 . Great machine for that run into the town or even a cruise to the countryside.
I test rode one of these yesterday. What a brilliant bike. Everything I like about a 125, but just a bit more grown-up. I'm waiting for luggage options to emerge, then I think I'll buy one.
I"ve seen many reviews for the Hunter on the past weeks and i have to say yours is by far the best. Very complete and enthusiastic. I loved it. Cheers from Brasil my friend!
Great review, enjoy your new purchase, I have an interceptor 650 , and a new classic 350 , but it looks like I’ll be adding a hunter 350 as well or my wet weather bike Royal Enfield are building winners
Great review Mark. Congratulations on your new bike ! I had a Royal Enfield bicycle back in the early sixties with the same colour scheme. Very interested in your choice of bike as you have certainly tested many. What do you think of it compared to the Himalayan or Scram. I agree with many of your followers that Royal Enfield are doing an amazing job of recreating real motorbikes again. Keep up the good work.
Hunter 350 was an unexpected turn of events in my life but my jolly was it a fun one. Been like a week now. Crazing over speed to development to just what I would actually need my own bike for life for and instigating the decisions despite being the younger audience of the spectrum, I realised I don't need no speed demon, I just got post college and I'm a short guy pretty much, in the long term I decided this would be best for me. I would have gone for the cb 350 in the segment, but I'm broke too.. Happy so far, just a few days until my first service, that should help me start putting miles on it. Got to accesories and tour
don't about 650, but you can expect a liq cooled Hunter 450. I've seen them being spied tested here in India. Sources have confirmed it will be a single cylinder making 42hp with 47nm torque equiped with usd forks. There'll also be a himalayan with same engine.
Please do more videos of this motorcycle. I have one small motorcycle Kawasaki Z 400. but I am in love with the seating arrangements on this motorcycle even though it’s a gutless wonder. It reminds me so much of my 1972 CB 500 without all the headaches
Nice Video Mark, congratulations on your purchase looks an ideal bike for a bit of a back road riding or cost effective commuting. I'm sure there will be lots of RE accessories to personalise the bike to everyone's' taste as well.
Glad to see that you are still going strong. Now that I got my first bike and my license I can't wait to drive again next spring. Stay save and healthy Mark. :-)
Hi Mark, bumped into you outside Poolo Moto a couple of weekends ago, great to meet you. Totally agree, one of the best little engines around, just bought a classic 350 to sit next to my meteor so a big fan. Enjoy your new bike!
Hi again , i bought a Hunter 350 now too and i have to say Mark you right its very true a really fun nimble light good quality bike , ok it is not a race bike but its really fun and that is what's it all about , this bike really puts a smile on my face ( love it !)
Have commented before Mark, just wondered what mileage you had on the bike when you produced your review. You seemed to be quite happy at about 50-55MPH in 5th (seemed quite reasonable to me ) even though above the RE recommended figures for initial run in. I think as long as you don’t rev the nuts off it and you don’t let the engine labour all should be fine. I have a Dapper Grey on order and that’s going to be my strategy. I keep returning to your video to remind myself what a great bike I’m getting 😊😊
Great review mate...i have just bought one and i agree 100% with all that you've said......a stella bike and for the price you cant go wrong ^+^. I look forward to more reviews going forward ... Cheers.
What a pretty, practical, understated, simple, all rounder, bargain of a bike. Can't say I like the bold tank graphics, pity they don't offer a version with more discreet decals or badges. A 500 cc version would be welcome for us heavier types and carrying a pillion. Maybe they will in time.
Great Perfect Professional Review ❤…Was waiting so much for this review…The wait finally paid off…I’m using it for commuting to work but can’t wait to go on my bike for a long ride…about 700kms in Dec End … Luv all the way from India (Kerala) Mark 😊❤
Very good videos Mark, your ride assessments are very good, in fact we met briefly at Poole Moto last August when after viewing your video of the 350 review I went down there for a look and bought a Classic 350, very happy with the bike . Good reviews, also a good word for Poole Moto. Best wishes for 2023, Kind regards, Tim
Thanks for a brilliant review Mark, I think this is the bike for me, loads of character, absolutely love it. I live in the Scottish Borders so the roads here are ideal for this bike. My local dealer is expecting some just before Christmas so can’t wait to see one in the flesh.
Think the bike looks awesome but for me to seriously consider buying one it would need to be able to do 80+ so in my opinion it would be more of an all rounder for people who can only afford one bike. Great review as always 👍
Hi Mark, Nice video as always. Really enjoy & appreciate your time & effort in doing these videos. Just curious how many bikes you own & what are they? Also did you ever test the R.E.500 single cylinder bike that was discontinued a couple years ago & if so how would you compare it to the bike that you purchased. Thanking you in advance for your reply. Have a great day!! Illinois, USA
Hi Larry my bikes change all the time because I get long term bikes to review from companies.....I did have a tracer 9 gt ...but sold it ..now it's currently the hunter...and a couple of sinnis 125s which are on lone ....but I may get a fast Kawasaki!!! Watch this space:) Best regards mark
It's great to see the vloger Mark buying one, shows just how good these little bikes are. It's a toss up for me Scram or Hunter. Enjoy and ride safe Mark.
Nice one Mark...There a super little bike for the money . Agree I think these will sell really well , such a cool stylish city bike. well done royal enfield.
As always a superbly presented comprehensive review on a very practical and popular bike. A few of my friends have the classic and meteor and they love them. I'm not so sure yet but one cannot argue with its value for money price tag. Definately an economical every day machine for relaxed riding. Hey who knows Mark, I may very well buy one. Once again thank you. You obviously we're impressed since you have bought one. I.'ll look forward too further reviews from you once you have put some more miles on it.
Hey Mark, congratulation on the new bike. Looks great. Royal Enfiled sells bench-style seats for the hunter. It could be a good upgrade for taller riders. I think it's slightly taller, but I couldn't find any details to be sure. But definitely, you can alter your seating position more and, therefore, your leg's position too
Hi Mark, thanks for this very enjoyable video like all of your vids. RE are producing such desirable 350's. Will be test riding as soon as available in my neck of the woods. Would love to see more of your Hunter. Take care.
Cheers Mark I went out and purchased my Hunter 350 love it I was out on mine all day today saying it’s really good weather here in Thailand tired after 5 hours but a coffee and back on again
Congratulations Mark! That bike is on my very short list 😅 My only concern is if it can be safe on a motorway. So happy you really bought one 🙂 Keep coming that feedback on the bike 💪🏿 Cheers!
Sure you'll be left in the wake 90 mph crew, although more and more surveillance will eventually curb that on motorways but you've got enough to get past the hgv's
Back in the 90s I commuted 70 miles daily, which included 50 on motorways, on an MZ 250, so would have no issues with doing it on the Hunter. You just need to adapt your riding to suit the bike.
Congrats on your brilliant new bike. I fancy one myself but unfortunately am cursed by being 6'4'' tall with a 34'' inside leg. I have yet to have a seat on the Classic 350 so maybe that will be my final bike. I look forward to any Hunter updates, Best wishes for '23.
Have you run the bike in Mark? It is extremely difficult keeping to the RE recommended figures especially during the first 300 miles. When I had a Classic 350 I limited myself to 50mph initially, anything less on A roads seemed unwise due to traffic build up behind me.
Great looking bike, definitely prefer the round headlight classic look compared to the modern transformer bug appearance headlights, like on the mt Yamaha.
Another big hit for RE. Pleased to see they have dropped the tripper but I would like to see a tacho on it. I am so used to the riding position on my Meteor that don't think I would like the Hunter, anyway you are going to enjoy for sure Mark.
A very informative and intelligent assessment of this machine. From what I have seen on YT, the RE's we get in the UK seem to be "de luxe" models. The wiring on the Indian versions looks like a rats nest, for example. However, the Indian models are I believe, cheaper to buy so the export versions must be rather expensive in India but well priced in the UK. Although many people carp on about the BHP of the Re 350's, the output of the engines of the G3 models in the UK in the early 1960's was 20BHP and the top speed 70mph or 80 on a good day! It has been claimed that the reborn RE 350's have a rev limiter built into the ECU and 5th gear is an Overdrive. A very interesting machine.
Hi mark , we’ll done for buying the hunter , obviously you’ve ridden loads of bikes, big and small, you know what any bike can give , pleasure and enjoyment wise , the hunter at £3900 what’s not to like , it’s a stunner , it’ll give endless enjoyment and cost peanuts to run ,anyone with a larger capacity bike , who buys one of these , I’ll guarantee their big bike will gather dust next summer !! Yeah I like power as much as the next person , but I enjoy small bikes ,they put fun back into biking ,I’d have a hunter in a heartbeat ! Enjoy that hunter Mark , be warned your current bike will be left sulking in the garage 🏍🏍👍👍
When you sat on the bike to show the seat height, you looked amazing with your black dressup on this black/red RE. Absolutely muscular feel. It reminded me of Tom cruise in MI-2.👍🏻 great choise.
Good vid Mark. I’ve been trying to decide between a classic 350 and a meteor 350. But I think i’ll include the Hunter in that short list now. It looks and sounds like a really good bike.
The j series engine is a winner. Mark, your 350 classic review made my dad buy one and this hunter review has me very tempted. Did you notice any differences between this and the classic?
EXCELLENT. GREAT review and commentary. 10/10. I may buy one!! SERIOUSLY. I LOVE it. I currently have a 350 Classic. I LOVE it but will test ride the HNTR. THANK YOU Mark. WELL done. (again)
Have you sold the 390 to get this, Mark? Good idea changing the oil at 3,000 miles. I do on my 390. Nice dash on the Hunter. The spread of torque attracts me to the bike. It would be perfect for Chiang Rai's 'city' streets and the surrounding back roads. The local Triumph dealer has stopped selling REs, though, but I don't think I'd get rid of my KTM for one, even if there was a dealer. Or would I? The usual really thorough review. I'm glad you've retained the same format for your videos. Too many RU-vid channels are happy to simply read from spec sheets. Ironically, they are always oversubscribed.
Hi nik sadly yes....the ,duke is amazing but I've always wanted one of these royal Enfields and I haven't quite got the room in my garage for the other bikes that I sometimes get on long tem demo loan....so yes I decided to let the duke go ...but would definitely consider one again in the future Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 I can understand it. Just been out on the 390 for a 60km backlane ride. The low-down jerkiness of the throttle is begining to irritate me. I'll be intersted to see how you get on with the Hunter.
Hi mark I had a test ride on the meteor a few weeks before they launched the hunter, I loved the meteor but after your review I might have to check out this hunter before parting with my money.
Hi my name is Chris I own a royal Enfield hunter 350 just had first service at 300 miles I'm enjoying riding this bike 🏍 even though I live in brentford west London big plug for Central London bikes in Hammersmith and the lad's in workshop very thorough and polite 😂
