I was never a RE fan but the 450 Himalayan is a fantastic motorcycle that I want to buy right now and can't get. Completely sold out in Austria and endless pre-orders
Paint, finishings and build look made to last and seems to hit the sweet spot in terms of price (ownership and running costs), practicality and performance. What a bike.
Engine and info/nav display are winners. I expect they will appear in road versions. Big 👍 to RE for offering bikes with a centre stand as standard. I hope to see bikes with a rear DTRL red light bar above the number plate for added visibility.
5years ago I bought my 1st cfmoto 650mt before and after pandemic I clocked 42,000 kms on it did twice loop ride in my whole country and 3 endurance race in it each endurance covers 1800kms for 24 hrs to finish. I don't think cfmoto is for wannabes rider ✌️
Impressive I’m sure RE will sell boatloads reasonably priced too. I can definitely see some Triumph influence likely due to RE having poached a designer or two from them. Good to see decent mudguards front and rear other manufacturers please take note. The dash looks great and they even have the tachometer and speedo the correct way round unlike Triumphs 400. Thanks Mark good overall review 👍
Ive been waiting for your review of this Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Mark. Such a great practical motorcycle with style. Lovely build quality and the paint work and welds look great and I,m certain that Royal Enfield would have been rigorous with their R&D and "in the field " real world testing before bringing this massively updated Himalayan 450 to the Showroom floor. It looks finished and complete in so many ways.
That is what you call a review. Absolutely brilliant Ive watvhed a ton of reviews on this bike & yours is head n Shoulders above any other on RU-vid . Well done
I was never a fan of the bike Itchy Bits rode as it always seemed too boxy/angular to me. This however is a vast improvement, and assuming its power output is sufficient for your needs it's hard to see why you wouldn't consider this machine. I like it.
As a GoldStar owner i love a single engine and this new Enfield really ticks all the boxes and doesn't it look great in the black colour. In my eye's a much better bike than the Triumph. You forgot to mention it has a seriously decent front mudguard as all bikes should have but so few actually do.
Great review. I think it's gona be another Great success for RE.. and most likely my next bike.... iam gonna leave it for a year just to see if any thing pop up .. recalls etc. 👍
Looks like a lovely bike. Great fit and finish and great performance and economy. As you said Mark, a step up for Enfield. Great informative video as always, Cheers.
Really liking the effective simplicity of the dashboard layout design. Everything is clearly legible at a glance. Take note, Triumph with your dog's dinner of a display on the current Street Triple 765 RS!
A great review. I like the look of this. I wasn't sure about the display, but it is growing on me. The Tripper nav looks great though. There are some nice touches for a bike at this price point.
Most comprehensive review I've seen, thank you. I'm only ten minutes from Verwood and keep thinking I'll bump into you at Alderholt Churchill Arms one Tuesday evening but not seen you there yet Mark ;)
An excellent review Mark as expected. Thanks so much. Real world opinions from a normal biker's perspective. Looks very capable and might just be all the adventure bike you need.
RE seems to genuinely listen to bikers and do their best to deliver what we want. And for every new bike they strive to better quality and finish. This one should fly off the shelves at the dealers,. Good review, you covered the essentials.
That's a nice bike! great review as always Mark thanks what is the nut thing for again to undo the front axle interesting, I will be having a look at one of these beauties
Thanks from Minnesota, USA. Excellent review! I appreciate you mentioning your height as I am a taller rider and I was curious about the fit. I'm hoping these come in soon because I was just about to pull the trigger on a Scram 411 but this extra power is much needed here! Nobody seems to have a good idea when they will arrive here.
Hi it's a short stroke engine....whereas the hunter is long stroke ...so the new Himalayan is much faster free er revving than the plodding hunter ....but both are brilliant in their own way Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12it is actually not a short stroke engine and that is why it has vibes at 90 km/h. It is a square engine meaning its almost long stroke. For good torque and power.
A very thorough and accurate review Mark. Nice job. I rode the demo bike at Bob Minions in Derby last week and simply loved it. I think it's going to be a big hit for Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield have really stepped up the quality with this bike. I guess its in direct competition with the 400 Triumphs. Another great review as always Mark. Thanks.
I came down to Poole when the pre production models were there and was quite impressed with the bikes. Tubeless are the models to go for I think. Good value for money. Sitting on the bike I think the weight is well disguised with a fairly low center of gravity. Very good review. Cheers Mark👍👍
Hey Mark, This was my first choice and is now also available from us. Beautiful motorcycle, looks really nice and has many options in terms of settings on the dash, drives very well. greetings Marc
G'day Mark, even though I'm not into Aventure bikes this 450 from Royal Enfield with sell well, the new more powerful motor suits Australia conditions, l would gladly take one into the outback and be sure l would come back, great review, cheers Neil 🤠, PS this bike is advertised cheeper here.
Years ago I rode a single cylinder Suzuki SP 370 trail bike - I suppose you might consider that and the Yamaha XT 500 to be early adventure style bikes. Those 'thumpers' were great fun to ride and this new Himalayan 450 seems to be carrying on a genre where those bikes left a gap. A great review of a bike offering a lot of adventures for the dosh! Cheers.
Mark, What are your thoughts on position of back brake and gear lever positions? I found them quite tucked in toward the engine for my big boots on the 411? Nice review again.
Thanks for the review, Mark? On initial impressions it looks good vfm. Build quality looks better, electronics upgrade and water cooled. It’s going to need a test ride for curiosity, if nothing else. It looks a tad overweight. With 2 plus luggage on board I’d be slightly concerned about any long(er) distance work; could be wrong, of course, but a concern. Fine for solo, absolutely. I think the new Chinese CF Moto 450mt could prove very stiff competition; Enfield is well established…..not sure if I could (yet) part with the folding on a Chinese bike. You are a bit naughty, Mark! Why not have a ball and squish through those puddles on the gravel track, cover it in mud and let’s see where the crud gets with the long front mudguard and rear fender (welcome inclusions)!
Thanks for the review Mark. So in the Voge DS525x review one of your replies to a comment was that you thought you may prefer it over the Himalayan 452. Thoughts now?
Very close but yes I'd go for the voge just because of it's much better frontal area...better wind protection....it just suits my style better Cheers mark
Great review. I think they've nailed it. The bike looks great - especially in this black on gold. As a 6 footer (183cms) this bike would fit like a glove. Engine sounds SWEET!! I'd like to know if the speed on this video is in miles or kms though.
It’s not a long stroke like the old one you got to keep the revs up even when you take off ,it’s an all steel no nonsense bike for the prices it’s pretty good bang for buck it’s kind of built like a tank ,
The new himalyan's engine still has a long stroke as far as I know. It is simply more capable of higher and more sustained revs due to the liquid-cooling.
Good evening (well almost morning) Mark. I took one out today, and had the same frame rate issue (maybe worse than yours), using my DJI Osmo Action 3…..such a shame, but how could we know 🙄 Great review as always, it’s a belting bike, which I fell in love with.
Thanks Ian I've never had that problem with flickering on any dash on any other bike I've reviewed....150 bikes plus....I think there are settings...pal nstc ....video software to edit maybe but I couldn't figure it out Must be that the Enfield dash is constantly flickering like a fluorescent light but you can't see it with the naked eye....glad I'm not the only one lol Best wishes mark
Cracking little bike , excellent price too. Why power modes with 40 hp beyond belief in my view, but hey ho , modern way I suppose. With the volume of todays traffic, perfect bike in my view. Nice video again Mark.
This is the RE single cylinder motor they should have brought out 4 year ago... Love this bike!!. RE have always been lacking on top end, 70Mph was the let down for me but this looks great and now as the power 💪. I think the small issue is the price.. will the price put people off?, one of RE big selling points was the price, you could get a nice bike for little over 4K. thanks for another great review Mark 👍
According to people who have tested CF moto already thay say it's better on highway but himmy is better off-road. Also there is news that CF moto can do 150 kmph which is same as himmy but CF moto due to twin feel more smooth on road.
Love your videos Mark, but you are mistaken. My Himi 411, 2019 B4, will cruise at 70 mph and top's out at 85. The engine is fully functional and bedded in after a few thousand miles. Not the brand new demo bikes everyone reviewed
Great review Mark. I cannot see any advantage of this bike over the new Honda 500 Hornet, unless you go off road often. The Honda is a little pricier but so much more accomplished: More comfortable, faster, more economical, much better dash, lighter. I suppose it boils down to personal preference and style.
I tried the old brilliant one, liked it but lacked power, if you want to get to somewhere interesting chances are you’ll need to use some motorway unless you want to take half the day just getting there. Great review, liked it up until you got to the rear indicator/brake lights, way too many bikers being hit by other vehicles without them being utterly confused by your weird rear light set up.
Ah yes, but is it a Kawasaki KLR650 killer??? ;) Can't wait to test ride one of these! I love my Classic 350 but looking for something more capable. My experience with Royal Enfield has been great!
The only thing I don't like is not having a dedicated rear light. It's what people behind you are looking for not this new weird way of doing things. Cracking review though 👍
Seems a big improvement over the previous model but then the price has gone up. I wouldn't want the tube tyres and really don't like the rear light built in to the indicators. For riding on the roads in England I much prefer the Triumph Scrambler 400. Great review as always, cheers.
What's it going to be like for the DIY maintenance guys and gals amongst us, how easy is valve servicing and simple things like filters and oil change. Thanks
EXCELLENT review Mark. EXCELLENT. THOUROUGHLY ENJOYED it. If I may suggest in future video's, (and I believe this is a GREAT comment) would you mind going thru all 6 gears (at normal riding) with NO voice over so we can HEAR the motor??? 99% of all reviewers DO NOT do this. I/we would LOVE to HEAR the engine/motor from zero to 60 mph. (100 klms) with NO voice over PLEASE. I think this would only consume about 10 seconds of video Time. Perhaps you can consider this. I REALLY believe your subscribers and viewers Will APPRECIATE it. THANKS Mark, all the Very Best.
@@markpulling12 Thanks Mark, GREAT to hear. I REALLY do believe your audience would APPRECIATE it. NO talking NO voice, just the engine/motor sound ONLY, going UP through the gears AND going DOWN through the gears. (at normal riding) THANK YOU Mark.
Golden rims is such a strange choice for a rough adventure bike, very out of place. Apart from that the 450 Himalayan seems like a very capable bike, but I won't be switching my old 411 Himalayan for one. I really like the rugged simplicity of the 411, that simplicity is gone on the 450 with all the electronics and a less do-it-yourself friendly DOHC engine. But a big thumbs up to Royal Enfield for still giving all their bikes a center stand, no other manufacturer do so anymore, if you're lucky, they'll sell you one as an accessory. And as we all know, chain drive sucks, but chain drive and no center stand really sucks!
100% valid comment. I'm a returning rider (50 years) and am not sure which bike would be best to ride from the UK to the Himalayas. In fact I'm considering a 350 classic as my stead. Any thoughts?
@@CosmicSeeker69 For a trip like that I would definitely choose something simple like the 411 or one of the RE 350's. They are no doubt slower than the 450, but there's just less that can go wrong.
Me personally I prefer the sit in feeling of the voge with it's better bigger frontal area screen But the Himalayan is better off road which it will be doing all round the world Best wishes mark
Judging by the large amount of encouraging comments, it certainly appears that this bike has been eagerly anticipated, Mark. The reports coming back from testers, including yours, leave no doubts that RE have successfully evolved this bike into something contemporary and desirable when compared to its capable but somewhat uninspiring and rather dull predecessor. Good report as always, Mark.👍
Tail lights just like on new gs , I don’t like that trend and I don’t think it’s a good idea to be honest , make me wonder how in night drives will react to taillights with indicators on and brake lights mmm Anyway as always Mark great review!!!
@@nebula234it’s kinda funny in uk u don’t need indicators to pass mot , for green lining u could remove them “but now u have no tail light 😂, hopefully re uk will stock them just in case so u don’t ride with duck tape for months waiting for delivery 😂
Bikes of around 400cc Seem to be very popular Just Lately..what I am Looking Forward to is Seeing You Get Down to Bournemouth Kawasaki To Test the New Z500
Good review thanks. I think I’m with the general consensus- Cfmoto 450 could be the one. More kit, lighter, cheaper and imo looks way better. Unicorn 🦄 maybe?
Hi Mark, Always liked the look of the Himalayan, too small for me though. Was thinking of getting a 2009 BMW KL1300GT, what are your thoughts on that bike?
Rough road lol, that was smoother than our main highways. Looks good value for money bike, 17" rear 18 would have been a lot better to find off road tyres for it.
Since the Kove 800 super adventure claims to have the same weight, I would consider including the 800, also. Obviously, the price would have to be not far from the Himalayan, and CFmoto 450MT.
If you wanna go for weight reduction you can easily remove 25 kgs by removing parts... RE uses very less plastic on the body compared to other brands...
