This was so nice I put it up on my giant tv and just took the journey late at night. Everything disappeared in the darkness but the trains journey ... heavenly. I imagine the people living in the houses. ☺️. Just wonderful thanks for posting.
I believe as I type this, one of the Gotthard Base Tunnel bores is still open for freight traffic. The bore that was damaged by the freight train derailment should be open hopefully by late summer 2024 so all through traffic in both directions can be routed through the Tunnel again.
@@christianehagen9557 Dazu brauche ich eine neue Kamera. Die aktuelle kann ich zwar auf Manuell stellen, die Helligkeitsstufen fliessen dann aber nicht mehr zusammen, was mehr stört als die Überbeleuchtung bei Tunnelausgängen usw.
I watched this video over the past two nights and I thoroughly enjoyed it. When the train passed through the mountains, I enjoyed the view of the peaks and snow tops, and when the trained passed through the flat lands, I enjoyed the view of the rolling hills and meadows. What a wonderful variety of scenery! I greatly enjoyed this latest journey across Switzerland. On Fathers Day I told my grandchildren about your video and my view from the drivers seat of the longest train tunnel in the world! I said when the train finally came out of the tunnel it took a couple minutes to focus and, once I could see clearly it was like being in another world; a paradise. They were thrilled to hear this and eager to enjoy the journey themselves. Thank you for sharing the ride. Keep up the great work!

@Dr Moriarty My grandfather told me some from his vacation in Peru. The coupling failed on a mountain train at least 3 times and it had to reverse down to get the lost carriages.
really a nice video. Watched it all the way to the end and really enjoyed the last 10 minutes where all those trains were moving around in the Basel rail yard. For this Rail Kid this video was a gem. Love cargo trains as they move slower and you can enjoy more of the countryside..
Tolle Fahrt im Winter, die Beleuchtung bei 43:42 - 43:58min gehört zur Nothaltestelle Sedrun wenn es jemanden interessiert :-). Die weitere Beleuchtung dient wohl der Beginn der baldigen Instandhaltung der Tunnelröhre oder wurden beendet und wird später ausgeschaltet. Oberhalb der Nothaltestelle Sedrun gibt es übrigens ein druckdichtes Aussichtsfenster, das man für Besucher eingebaut hat und ist über den Zugangsstollen Amsteg erreichbar....
Herzlichen Dank und Daumen-hoch-so-weit-es-geht für diese Gelegenheit die Schweiz zu durchfahren. In den 70er Jahren bin ich mit Nachtzügen über Wohlen und Rotkreuz (Gemeinde Risch) allerdings oben drüber über Göschenen und Airolo gefahren. Ich bin endgültig lorirocks-Begeisterter geworden. :-) Herb.

Hands down, the best part of this trip for me is the run through the snowstorm heading into the Gotthard tunnel: it is like viewing a moving picture postcard. Too bad the paralleling(? Hope I have this right.) Gotthard mountain route was not utilized as it would have been nice to see the weather transition as the train passed over to the north side of the range. Die Schweizer lieben ihre Eisenbahn. Nirgends auf der Welt wird die Bahn so viel genutzt wie in diesem Land. Die Schweiz ist klein aber umfasst vier Kulturen, vier Sprachen und sendet ihr Wasser in vier verschiedene Meere. Der Bundesrat hat gerade jetzt (Monat Mai 2024) entschieden, dass das Schienennetz weiter ausgebaut wird.
Ganz tolles Video. Was mir besonders gefiel, die vorhergehende Ankündigung der Durchfahrbahnhöfe. So konnte man sich beim Betrachten gut darauf einstellen. Auch den Schnellabkauf am Schluss des Videos gefiel mir. Sah wie auf vielen Modellanlagen mit ihren viel zu schnellen Zügen aus. 💚💚💚
El túnel bajo de San Gottardo, nace en las cercanías de Erstfeld (Cantón de Uri) y termina al sur de Bodio, cerca de Pollegio (Cantón del Tesino, distrito de Leventina). Tiene 57.104 metros de largo y posee dos estaciones multifuncionales, una en Sedrun y la otra en Faido, ambas dentro del mismo Túnel, que sirven como vía de evacuación hacia la superficie. Las luces lúgubres ubicadas a mitad de túnel, indican la división cantonal, mientras el área entre la estación multifuncional de Sedrun y una faja de 850 metros al norte, también cuenta con iluminación. El resto, todo oscuro.

Bei Minute 52:25 ist der Glaskasten im GBT zu sehen. Durch ihn kann man bei einer Führung in den Tunnel schauen und vorbeifahrende Zuge beobachten beziehungsweise fotografieren.
Thanks, another great video. With the line between Zug and Arth-Goldau now closed for more than a year, there will be much more traffic on the line through Immensee. So it looks as if all trains to and from Zug will have to do a reversal at Rotkreuz? The work between Flüelen and Brunnen seems to have taken years!

Revisiting this after what happened today, I am very surprised how freight train was able to Derail in this tunnel. It was good that it wasn’t a passenger train, at least, because the photos of the derailed train and its carriages, does make you wonder how bad it could’ve been if it were passengers, not freight…
From what I heard, it was a problem with one of the axles/wheels and not the infrastructure itself. Thanks to the closure, my train was rerouted via Göschenen today 🥰
Es ist schon erstaunlich wie anders doch oft die klimatischen Verhältnisse im Tessin sind. Als ich das letzte Mal im Hochsommer in der Schweiz war, war das der einzige Teil mit Sonnenschein. Überall woanders hat es geregnet. Das ist sicherlich häufiger so
It was mentioned in the comments above that the headlight high beam was not bright enough going through the tunnel. By setting to full screen and in a darkened room, the views look fine.
Are the new blue dwarf signals only cleared for shunting movements not under ETCS control now? It sounds weird, but as a lineside train watcher I'm not really a fan of the signals being replaced by radio telegrams. I suppose this must be how the previous generation of railway enthusiasts felt about the replacement of semaphore signals with colour lights. Railways just won't be the same in the future.

Was a little confused at the end but I am guessing (I left Australian railways in 93 so have lost touch) that you were uncoupled from your consist, sent around a bit then sent across tracks to join up to the standing loco? When exactly were you uncoupled?
