I guess the timetable just didn't add up, given the single track. Fortunately there is also a very good bus service between Spiez and Interlaken Ost, which stops at intermediate locations.
Timetables became a big Part of the Problem, resulting in Interlaken losing it's most Important direct National Connection to the Airport Zürich. There was way too much Traffic on this singletrack Line: Regio, Interregio, National and International Trains, Extra trains, Shunting to the BLS Works and Depot plus Goodstrains. The Stations Därligen and Faulensee are located a very long Distance outside of their Villages, which meant that they weren't used daily or even regularely. How @wyqtor said, the Busservice is by far the best Thing that happened to this Line, as it's stopping at several places IN the Villages and not 1-1,5Km outside
@@samuelbhend2521 Personally, to get to Interlaken from Zürich Airport, I'd take the direct train to Luzern and hop onto the Zentralbahn connection there.
That's certainly the more beautiful Way to get here, Viewing the Landscape instead of Tunnels and Noiseprotectionwalls. The Touristguru's were shocked when we lost that direct Connection, they feared the Apocalypse for their Wallet... But sadly we still have way more Tourists than before😠@@wyqtor
1) Die einspurige Strecke war konstant überlastet: IC nach Bern-Basel ICE nach Bern-Basel-Hamburg GoldenPass Linie Luzern-Meiringen-Interlaken-Spiez-Zweisimmen-Montreux IR nach Spiez Güterzüge zum Gipsbruch Leissigen Überführungs- und Sonderfahrten zur BLS-Werkstätte in Bönigen (2Km weiter als I'laken Ost) Dazu kamen vorher noch: IC nach Bern-Zürich-Kloten-Romanshorn Regio nach Spiez 2) Die Züge dürfen auf dem grössten Teil der Strecke wegen der vielen engen Kurven und unübersichtlichen Stellen nur langsam fahren. 3) Die Bahnhöfe Faulensee und Därligen liegen weit ausserhalb ihrer Dörfer und wurden daher kaum je benutzt. Den Regio durch das Postauto zu ersetzen, welches direkt im Dorf an mehreren Stellen anhält und einen dichteren Fahrplan fahren kann, war hier die richtige Entscheidung. 4) Interlaken hat dadurch auch die Direktverbindung nach Zürich-Kloten verloren, was für eine so stark touristenabhängige Region angeblich sehr schlecht sein sol...
@@samuelbhend2521 Das ist total falsch, die Bahnhöfe wurden eingestellt Weil der Kanton Bern sparen will und der Bus nach meinung des Kantons besser ist. Die Bahnhöfe sind ja mitten im Dorf. Siehe Zeitungsberichte auf Google Es gibt ja noch ein Komitee (ig) gegen die Schliessung der Bahnhöfe.

The Jungfrau region, Mürren in particular, is probably the most epic place I have been to in terms of scenery! I got there by train, from Basel to Interlaken, which also goes along this route! By the end of the video, my mind was going: better hurry through the passage under Interlaken Ost, the train to Lauterbrunnen must surely be waiting on track 2!
Completely agree about Mürren. Jaw-dropping doesn't even begin to describe it. I haven't been there since they replaced the rickety old funicular at Lauterbrunnen. And the way the cable car down to Stechelberg rocks like a pirate ship ride as the angle changes at the edge of the cliff is something nobody could ever forget.
Well driven. Well timed. The non-stop crossing with the DB ICE to Hamburg was very good. I could only see one of the station clocks 05.05 at Interlaken West? The Early bird service?
it´s ICE 372 = Interl.Ost - Hamburg Altona, but station clock in Därligen should correct time(6:07am), train leavin from Interl. West at 6:03am....he is on right time.
As someone who is Almost 10 years a driver himself in the Netherlands i can only admire the Swiss natural views. I went to Kandergrund with my wife last year for the first time. Totally fell in love with Switzerland. I wish I could drive my trains in Switzerland, but sadly that's not possible. Also very refreshing and honestly(still) impressive that both sides of the tracks aren't fenced off (like in the Netherlands)
Nice to meet you. Well - the only barrier is the language. If you can speak German, Italian or French, there are plenty of companies searching for drivers. It is an amazing country as far as railways go.
These are excellent videos, by far the best train/cab rides on the internet. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I did prefer it when the speed graphic disappeared after popping up - leaving a completely clean image to enjoy - nevertheless these are not to be missed.

Thank you, this cab ride brings back memories for me of the times in the 90s when I stayed in that region, my favourite part of Switzerland especially when I use to stay up in Wegen. It would be nice if you get the chance of riding the BOB line upto Lauterbrunnen

Omg, i just got back from my magical trip of Switzerland.. i stayed outside of Thun and took the bus everyday back n forth from thun to interlaken. The bus journey was the most beautiful, never tired of it. Took the bus to Spiez and the town and its castle are just places in a fairytale.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

Eine herrliche Fahrt am Thuner See entlang. Aufgefallen ist mir, dass alle Bahnhöfe an der Strecke in 2020 geschlossen wurden. Wahrscheinlich zu unrentabel. Was ich super fand waren die Überfahrten über die Aare. Danke für's Mitnehmen☺🍀

Der Regio-ersatz durch den Bus war die sinnvollste Lösung, da nun in jedem Ort mehrere Haltestellen viel häufiger angefahren werden können.

There seems to have been a cull of intermediate stations recently, which would seem to make a local service from Spiez to Interlaken rather superfluous?
At first glance, that would make sense - however, if the 'local' service were culled, it would push everyone onto the long-distance trains and would leave regional passengers crowding the platforms at Spiez waiting for their onward connection - as such, a 'local' train needs to be kept to maintain the integrity of the national regular interval timetable \m/
