For all points and purposes, that was NOT, a model!!! What I saw, was almost a full sized, 'DRONE'!!! That was, one of the best jet (and propeller) plane demonstrations, I've ever witnessed 😲👏👏👏!!!! I almost couldn't tell, the difference!! Beautiful model, enhanced with multiple cameras (perhaps Go-Pro) makes this, an ultimate experience!! I've also seen many a flights to, but this?? WOW 👍😁!! Coincidencly, the F-104 is my favorite, 'CENTURY' Series jet's, too!!
*Well said!* _Thank you for your outstanding comment which I really appreciate !!!_ btw. the onboard cameras are MOBIUS because they are way smaller than GoPro 🤙😎
Hands down, one of top 5 most realistic model flights I've ever seen. That's the nice outcome of an amazing big plane being recorded by experts using proper gears. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Watching your film on the big screen is very enjoyable. I feel that you are taking your movies to a much higher level of quality and experience. Kudos to the pilot as well. A real pleasure!
OUTSTANDING! Now THAT'S what we want to see - especially with model jets of this caliber - high-speed, low-level passes. Superb craft and flying, and the onboard shots were fantastic. As always, thanks so much for sharing. Steve
That could very be the finest RC F104 ever built. Remember when they couldn't even build the plane because the engines were too underpowered? Now look at what the builders can do.
Whoaa...... That is some seriously good flying skills!!! The cameras also add to the effect. You ought to very proud of both your bird snf you piloting abilities!! :^)
I have also a good tip. I see some planes with landing gear malfunctions(on whole youtube canals) And when they land, they have a lot of damage. And that makes sad,off coarse. So when you strechted a great net ,between two sticks stoken in the ground, where they fly their malfunctional plane in it. That results a better landing, instead of a 'normal' landing, with lots of damage and mostly a carbage landing(putting in the bin😂)
Yes it has a telemetry system, which gives you any data you want on the TX radio ... even by audio. But many of the pilots don't need it, because it can be also disturb your concentration while flying.
It's because you skipped to the end of the video 😆 The landing is shown with 3 different cameras views ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V4UPfmBn9LA.html
For those that may not know (I know just a little) this rc pilot is as expert as an expert is going to get. Actual jets are not like prop planes. You have to plan ahead and cannot just power your way out of slow speed situations. It can take several seconds for jet engine to do what you wanted it to do 5 seconds ago. Here, this a model jet being flown WITHOUT the ability to feel the aircraft. I dont know if there is some sort of telemetry that the rc pilot can use to know the airspeed of the jet (lord, I would not doubt they make tiny pitot tubes), but regardless of all of this, the ability for him to fly so slowly and accurately and safely during that first low speed pass is amazing, and this notwithstanding the perfect aerobatics he does. This is a remarkably feat of rc flying, never mind the amazing 104 model he's flying.
_Thank you for your great comment, which I really appreciate !_ 👍😎 Modern Rc remote controls are capable of transmitting telemetry in real time. On request also in voice output. However, the pilot rarely looks at the display, as he focuses primarily on the flight.
Well...WOW is just not enough to describe this! PERFECTION in modeling, performance, scale, piloting skills, and photography!! Best I have ever seen in any of those categories!!
Excellent capture as allways! Has this bird been shown on your channel before? I'm sure I've seen it before this video :) (possibly without the wingtip tanks) sexy plane! :D I had a Revell model of it a few lightyears ago :)
_Thank you for your kind comment, which I really appreciate._ The only video I've done of this Starfighter before was this one ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pRtBSssDDHA.html _Have a nice day_ 😎👍
I consider the F-104 to be one of the most beautiful airplanes ever built. This model is perfection, down to the distinctive howl through the intakes on the sides. I heard it when rolling down to the takeoff area. An unexpected, but very pleasant surprise. And a great flight also! So, the way we give a compliment here in the southeastern USA..." Ya' done good!"
The first time I saw a radio controled F-104 was about 1980. It was 1 to 1 scale and landed with a hole in the vertical stableizer about 1 yard in diameter from being hit in an AA missile test.
If there is such a thing a "RC Perfection" I believe I just witnessed it. Beyond description, especially the on board aerial footage. Just like being inside an aerobatic airplane (which I have been).
Next level filming 😀👍👍👍 the angel off the ombord cameras are so amazing to watch! Maybe the best rc video i have ever watched! And i watch a lot off them! And are making some myself and know how hard this is to do! Again! Amazing work 👍👍👍👍😀
No words, belissimo! Sometimes I tried to drop from my chair! Pilot Bravo! So soft landing of this “widow-maker” its great! Thank you a lot, I had an ocean of nostalgia because she was an icon in jets of my youth. Best regards.
Wow! The sound! The cameras! The details! The SOUND! REALLY F*CKING COOL! The profile and performance is just amazing... And it's about time we see someone with a super RC jet like this with American decals and theme. Thank you for this. Can someone tell me how much this gentleman invested in building this masterpiece? My hats off to him ... wonderful masterful job!🍻🍻👍🏻👍🏻
_Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated !_ 👍😎 Since this is the very first (prototype) of the F104 of this size, it's difficult to tell you the correct price, but it's probably around $45k
@@RCScaleAirplanes Hey thanks for the reply. And that's what I kinda guessed it was in the range of...just a weee (3 e's) bit out of my pay scale for the next 20 years..lol But man, you did a helluva job making that super sweet! I've never seen one with so many camera angles, and that's just crazy dedication to your craft... my hats off to you again🎩👍🏻
@@RCScaleAirplanes My mistake, well pass along my kudos to the guy with this plane. Exceptional and masterful work on this one. A work of aerial art as it were. The camera layout is another level of craftsmanship that should be given all the accolades and high praise for taking it over the top. Thanks for taking time to respond. Keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻🍻
@@CaseyFinSF Never mind. I'm glad to have the opportunity to attend this kind of events and doing some videos on such fantastic Rc aircrafts. Thank you for the compliment. 👍😎
My dad was a 104 IP in the 60's, so I got to watch the 104's in the pattern at Luke AFB. I have to say this presentation brings back alot of memories. Now if you could get the J79 smoke trail and the shrieking howl . .
Hi Bill. I also remember the time when the F-104 flying over our village. The airbase was around 25 miles away. As far as the sound of the jet engine concern, it is possible to generate a similar screaming sound, but it will be very difficult and time intensive because it depends on the kind of exhaust pipe. I've seen / heard jets which came very close to the sound of the J79 turbine.
@@RCScaleAirplanes you can never get away from a proffer well running Roar a jet engine. I grew up at the end of the runway at the Naval Air Station in Marietta Georgia. Of course we could not put the Good China up in a China cabinet because the planes would bust everything but my mom bless her heart kept everything safe and sound long as she was around
This just made me smile! I grew up building model airplanes and this is one of those that really takes the cake for me. I wonder why there are 59 people who gave thumbs down on this? What the hell is their problem? Maybe they thought they were looking for let’s say dog biscuits or cat nip or something?
I've seen this bird before, and I thought it was presented by you, Horst. A secondary segment showed it with the wingtip tanks removed. Either way, it's a phenomenal aircraft and we're lucky to have you record these beauties in such a detailed manner.
Scale planes just seem to get (even) bigger! This an amazing plane. The motor I believe costs about $8,500 or so! Excellent flight and performance.. loved the low passes and on board camera shots. Greased the landing too :) ( I will never manage to accept such stubby wings - and it flies!)
Speechless wow...awesome flying. Agreed, the best RC flight of any model. That’s a Top Gun aerial manoeuvres hands down. Is the pilot a real pilot? My guess is yes. Thanks for sharing this video. Great!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Tom Cruise eat your heart out. 😁
_Thank you for your great comment full of compliments. The pilot is the team pilot of AIRWORLD, the manufacturer of this Starfighter. He has done all the test flights and therefore he knows the behavior of the model._
The moment when, with no external reference background in the proximity, you get unable to judge whether it's the real thing or a scale model...wow. the flight is also much more realistic than the other RC models we can see. Great performance from the pilot. This is a fabulous one, a legit QF104!
The F104 Starfighter is for me one of the most beautiful planes of the history. I build one in 1/48 scale then another in 1/32 (non flying models). I am proud enough of them ;) This one is absolutly wonderful and amazing !! I know that it is a flying arrow (or a rocket...) and you must be careful of stall in some cases, in real as with scale model. Flying it smoothly is the better way to show it. Low pass at slow speed are really exciting !! Front leg seems to have a problem. Next step : inside machine gun that works !! ;-D
Excellent landing ...... “To make landing speeds “reasonable,” The F-104 forced engine air through the wings to smooth the airflow and give more lift. With bleed air, the Zipper could land at the challenging but not extreme speed of 160 to 165 knots. If the air-bleed system was not working, landing speeds climbed to 240 knots.”
I really enjoyed the video, mostly because of the lack of commentary, and no music to distract you from the real music that is the jet! The inflight views were particularly fantastic, a credit to the quality of the cameras used.
One of the best models I have seen, perfection, and skill... it actually seems to be aerodynamically better suited at this scale than the original. Just shows the engineering of Lockheed.
Ear;ly 60"s the F-104 was built at Canadair Plant at Cartierville Airport Montreal . From my office window at Air Canada could see them take off for flight testing
Wow! Simply outstanding... stunning.... amazingly realistic... the only thing missing is the whistling howl of the J79 jet engine of the real plane... too bad you cannot duplicate that sound here...
Thank you for your great comment. The whistle sound of the turbine can be generated by finding the right type of the exhaust tube, but this is a very complicated operation which needs many different types of testing runs with different exhaust systems. I've seen (heard) smaller Rc jets, with a sound close to the J79 turbine. That means that it could be possible to get the identical sound also for the bigger turbines.
Wow this is amazing. I have heard the 104 had stability problems and to see a scale model fly this well is really a tribute to the builder and the operator!!!
''Widows maker'' , requires full attention with a few expert people .... so it was in full size version, at one time, in Luftwaffe.Appreciate dear Horst.
Have to say as an American modeler, I always liked the German 104 schemes.😂 Absolutley gorgeous model. Friend and I are finishing up a 1/6 F-16. Prototype scheme(not my choice)🙈. Beautiful roll, and flying performance.
This was very enjoyable to watch. The detail and flying was amazing. I was an Armourer with the Canadian Air Force in the early 80's At CFB. Coldlake. Alberta. Ive read some of the other comments.. Yes... the HOWL and smoke would be great. Perhaps NATO green camouflage and a DRAG SHOOT was always kewl to see deployed and would add to your realism .... Thank you for this posting. Cheer's from CANADA.
_Thank you for your great comment, which I really appreciate._ I'm sure that there will be some more of this model/size with other paint schemes. _Cheers from Germany_
This is a beautiful, inspiring flight by an incredible machine! Kudos to the expert pilot of a plane I understand was a handful to fly in real life. All that's missing is a scale model USS Enterprise in low Earth orbit for it to fly up to, after the base control tower reported a UFO on radar!
Thank you for your excellent comment. Yes. The front suspension has play. This is the first model of this size and the following models have been improved.
Without a doubt, this is the coolest rc jet video I have seen! Thomas is one of the best rc pilots in the world, and the recording, editing and presenting of this is second to none, thanks!!
un avion de légende ! un pilote fantastique ! et des images formidables ! BRAVO !!!!!! du très très bon travail pour le plaisir des yeux ! a legendary plane! a fantastic pilot! and great images! BRAVO!!!!!!!! very good work for the pleasure of the eyes!
Finally, a pilot with enough skill and confidence to put one of these really big and very powerful birds though it’s paces. So many pilots fly them around do a few basic maneuvers and land. Bravo to you and your team.
*Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!* 🤙😎 Here is another video from the same Starfighter >>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pRtBSssDDHA.html
Wow!! It gets a gold star from me. That sound is so much for the video and the beauty of the plane as it makes all the movements just as the real plane flew many years ago. Very nostalgic as you brought back the past into the future once again. Shalom my brother Shalom.
Thanks. There is no afterburner on this jet. Due to the enormous fuel consumption by using a turbine with afterburner it makes no sense of using. Also because the power/weight ratio of Rc aircrafts doesn't require the extra power of an afterburner.
@@Shuzcan61 Yes! I'm trying to go to one of those meetings which includes other PR pilots too. In flew DC-3s in PR and know LtCol Fuentes since I was a kid.
@@veritasetlibertas7889 Jose, Los Bucaneros and friends already had their party early April in Carolina -- a huge success as always. Don Fuentes has a profile in FB, look him up, he has photos posted with all the vets including my Dad and many others like el Duende, Happy and many others. Don Fuentes also has old pictures since the foundation of the PRANG showcasing its history. I remember Caribbean Airlines flew DC-3s models in the 60s before Eastern bought the franchise in the 70s -- that's how my father flew with Eastern for years. My brother and I used to visit La Muñiz on weekends while the Bucs were flying their missions flying F-86s and F-104s. After that, Los Bucaneros flew F-16 Falcons, A-7 Corsairs, today, C-130 Hercules. Stay in touch, God Speed!
Thats my favorite aircraft still. The NF-104 variant wad used for low earth orbit research. It had a rocket under the tail an extended wings with jet nozzels at the tips as well as the nose. Cool!!!
Unbelievable planes/models....I'm amazed that they've installed jet engines and can fly them...but then we've got the age of drones so...but pretty sweet!
