Grey of Grey! Dominic and I just watched this together and we both enjoyed it so much. I can't stop smiling. It was so nice to see how much you enjoyed the colours. Thank you for this video, Kriksis. :) By the way, the question mark was because the pigments weren't listed on the tube, but you can find them online! I realised I didn't even write the pigments on the first dot card, only on the second one for some reason. I'm so random! (Like that grey I love, ha ha)
Thank you yet again Natasha and I had so much fun swatching the colours. It was nice to try them out before I buy them and can see if I have dupes or if the colour is something I really want to get :) I think the question mark and pigments mentioned here and there gave these swatch sheets personality.
It's a swatching dream- team, Natasha and Kriksis, because of their love of colors and sharing this love. Every time I watch your videos, I want to have them all......this gorgeous watercolors.......but of course I don't do it. But sometimes I do! Mmmhhhhh......... Grey of grey and ......see you soon!
Grey of Grey - and I need this color. Once again, a lovely, cozy, and beautiful video. I have most of these colors, except the Wallace Seymour, which are hard to find in the US. The sets available here are all very earth tone, so the unique colors like Lakeland slate, or even blues, are not available. The Canadian site is perpetually out of all the colors you and Natasha recommend. Coincidence? I think not🤔 You may want to try the sepia made from squid ink. Probably not lightfast, but unique and lovely. Thanks for sharing this video and your art work💕
What I am doing currently is snuggling in a blanket with my two dachshunds, air conditioning on - after returning from tubing down the river with my niece.
I am awake early just after 5am and lying in bed watching this. Watercolour is my favourite medium but do use acrylic and acryla gouache and coloured pencils sometimes. I love to try new techniques and often end up with a mixed media piece that is mainly watercolour.
I’m behind on my video watching so my comment is late…You said how much you loved Schmincke Random Grey…I love it too by the way…since you can’t get it now…you might want to try Daniel Smith’s Shadow Violet…it’s slightly cooler than Random Grey but has a lot of the same separating colors and I use it the same way I use Random Grey 😊 I hope this helps you! Loved this video 🥰🥰
If you’re looking for an alternative to the schmincke random grey then try Roman Szmal Urban Grey… it’s a gorgeous grey. Maybe a bit darker and warmer than the schmincke but quite similar. Worth a try maybe? I’ve loved swatching along to your videos 🧡
Grey of grey 🖤. I have bad news re Random Grey 2023. It’s out already, but they made soft pastels this year. I’m mad that I didn’t order more tubes last year. Thanks for the lovely swatching session!
my goodness, these colours are gorgeous. it’s so fun to follow both you and natasha newton because you seem to enjoy the same colours i do… thanks for the inspiration! (question; do you know which paper natasha used for the dot cards? it doesn’t look too textured and seems to hold the paint beautifully..)
Ok, you win the prize for the prettiest swatch sheet EVER If you love Random Grey, you might enjoy Quink Ink (im sure youve tried that one already!) as the colour separation seem very similar to the chromatography of Quink :)
I am working on Katie Moody's patreon people references right now! Just doing some quick drawings with my new matte graphite pencils. I love these chill swatching sessions!
I see where you coming from regarding your predominant color use in your sky. Yet contrary to ones belief or preferences there ARE also bright blue skies and purple skies and underneath is vivid green and other colors people wouldnt see fit to stand a chance in a painting. There are lots of other vivid colors combined in nature. Yet to come across " more serious" as an artist I think people tend to go for more tame colors and can be patronizing to those who know how to use brighter colors.
Of course, I think it's really interesting how each of us depict colours or where we want to have focus on. Some artists will emphasise colour and bring it more vivid, some will mute it down, some will paint realistic and as it is and others more abstract. I don't think there is right or wrong. :)
Lovely relaxed swatching. I have broken a bone in my foot so I'm drinking coffee with my leg elevated and my tablet balanced on a cushion in my lap. I have found you via Natasha so I am super happy to have found you. I love your art 😁
Love the dog that sits on your desk -- the name that popped into my head is Rex. But maybe you want a girl desk guardian? I am finishing a couple of index cards for the latest IG icad challenge.
