That's awesome David! I have a roland td3 which has the mesh snare, but rubber pads for the toms. I've often thought about switching those three out for mesh pads, but the roland versions like my snare were a little pricey. I might have to compare this method. The feel of blending mesh and rubber pads on a single kit is weird as the rebound is no where near being similar.
I understand you ! Check on Drum-tec website to see if they have what you are searching for. I really LOVE the result with those Mesh. :D Good Luck ! :D
Hi. The bass pad seems to have the sensor stuck to the bk of the mesh head. I need to replace mine. Hole in it. How do you get the old ruined 8 " bass pad head off ? Cheers :)
Hey David, thank you for your video, but I've tried to do this with my DM10 & a mesh from Peace, and they still sound really load, almost as loud as the original Alesis plastics. Has anybody succeeded in this or tried something else?
Hey man, I got a question, how is the Alesis drum holding up? I heard that it can break easily... Btw does the mesh conversion help solving the problem?
To be honnest, I'm not sure that they last like other edrum. I'm guitarist first so I don't play often so for me it's great but for a drummer, maybe it's not gonna last long enough.
It's not worth it. The primary reason of mesh is to reduce noise. When you put in the foam under the mesh it sounds almost as loud as original. Dm"12 simply does not have enough space underneath to hold two piezos - one with cone and one on the shell.
$250 dollars is a load of money for mesh heads. There are Remo Silent Stroke mesh heads that are also mesh and are a load of money cheaper. Think about it, Remo makes the mesh heads that Roland uses in their $7k drum sets and their selling their mesh heads for 14 dollars a piece
+gamezmeow i just bought the remo silent stroke heads but the problem is i need that silencer inlay pad which i cant find anywhere.. i tried buying foam and cutting it but it just didn't work good
+gamezmeow yeah i figured i just haven't gotten it to work right. i have found foam that seems like it will work great i just haven't been able to find a head to make it sound like or almost like the drum tech version
Yes Remo makes Rolands mesh heads, no the Remo Silentstroke is not the same head, silent stroke are single ply while Rolands heads are two and three ply. The feel of the 2-3 ply head is much more natural. And the trigger more accurately. If your concerned further then I recommend watching @65drums videos on the topic
