So before anyone points it out the date I put on this Vlog is wrong, it was actually filmed this Monday so the 12th of October! Would be so much safer surely there is gotta be a increased infection risk if they are dabbling with it time after time? Although I really like that way he taped the end up that way it doesn’t hang outside the shirts or inside near gj tubes

@@gillyana If sterility is maintained, than no, that is not correct. Without going back and watching it again, I believe they had it on a blue field, which blue in medical things means sterile. So if sterility was maintained, it is fine.

Good grief! I am so sorry this has been such a frustrating thing for you both! Sigh. I can’t support anything Rowling does. Not anymore. I did really enjoy HP, but she ruined it all for me. Amy, Can't the hospital give you one of the rolly rack thingy you need to put your TPN on and you SALINE or any other iv meds that you need to hang? That one does seem more logical for you to have. Thank you for filming the acupucture I have been afraid it would be painful and you put me at easy about doing it. I want to start the Shadowhunters book series what is the name of the first book? Ty so much I am thrilled your making content again. I have been following you on IG when your not on here but sometimes it makes me feel like I am a stalker lol like you will post when you post and I respect that. Cassandra Clares books are all a masterpiece! I love all the books in the shadowhunters universe. My favorit is probably the newest one which is the eldest curses that revolve around Alec and Magnus. And definitely prefered the series over the movie, it honestly just made so much more sense to make it a tv series than a movie as it allowed for way more character development that tje movie did

Speaking for myself (i am not on TPN but i do have gastroparesis like Amy does, for me there would need to be some sort of treatment to make the digestive system actually move again. Mine is paralyzed like Amy’s and we can’t consume food by mouth as it does not actually get moved from the stomach through our bodies, it just sits there until it comes back out one way or another. So yeah, some way of making the stomach work again :)

When I got acupuncture my doctor attached little electrodes to the needles to make my muscles move in an attempt to get my muscles to relax... I was waiting to see your doctor do the same and but I'm glad you didn't have to because it was so weird and uncomfortable

I don’t know about over there but here in America the hospitals do not keep supplies like hickmans etc because they expire so they are in warehouses and have to be sent for, dumb I know but that may be the reason it took so long.

I was wondering if you might consider talking more about your hickman line? Maybe talking your experience so far. Obviously you don't have to but as someone who had a hickman line for roughly half there life (age 5-12) i'd be really interested in hearing about how it been for you, especially considering the age difference. (young children and fragile lines don't exactly mix so i was no stranger to repairs and replacement)

I read the mortal instruments books but never got into the show. If anyone's looking for a new series I really got into Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Literally couldn't put it down and they're about to release a Netflix series based on it with some elements added in from her other series Six Of Crows

It’s similar in England ! My boyfriend won’t be allowed in the delivery room when I have my baby until it’s literally coming out but once he leaves the room he’s not allowed back in ! We can’t go anywhere in public without masks

In west Australia we’ve had a closed border for international and interstate travel. No community transmission in 6 months. Our Premier acted quickly & took really tough action which means now we are basically restriction free - but we can’t travel outside WA

I’m in Queensland, Australia. We had our borders closed to most of Australia but have recently opened them up again to most states/regions. Overall, we have done very well with our Covid management and response. We’ve been really lucky so far (we cracked down early generally and most of us follow the guidelines which made all the difference).

I recently had to get my medical records for a Referral and reading through them many doctors started their note with “This is a very pleasant young woman” and then continue on explaining what I am being seen for, etc. Doctors usually start notes with something like “This is a pleasant… or just saying X is here for x today. Anyway, I imagine Amy’s said the same from what we all saw, she seemed so kind and patient. ❤

@@cpierce4562 no healthcare is not completely free in Australia (like in the UK). There are costs. A couple of weeks after your comment Amy passed away & in her last video (filmed a couple of days before she passed) she asked viewers to watch ads because she was struggling financially and hadn’t been able to upload many videos due to extremely poor health. Amy & Tom moved into their newly built house around the time Amy’s health started affecting her RU-vid and they wouldn’t have planned for the loss of income. Don’t comment judgemental things as you clearly don’t know what Amy was going through. People aren’t forced to watch ads, it’s just a suggestion

I've been in love with the Mortal Instruments Series for some years now. I did watch the movie but not all of the series. I thought both of them did things in a way I didn't enjoy, but also had some good points, so I'm really undecided about that. Genereally I do prefer the books over both film and series, and also all the other books, like the Infernal Devices.

Question: is there a reason why you don’t have a port? The Hickman honestly looks like it’s being held together by glue and Saran Wrap. I didn’t know if ports are common where you live. Thanks! Hope all is well.

I think because she is on TPN it needs to go directly into the main vessel

A port wouldn’t be ideal for her because it would always be accessed, and would have to be reaccessed every 7days. With the Hickman she doesn’t have to bother with accessing. Ports also aren’t the most recommended for TPN because it can clog the port. The wrap doesn’t stay on, it comes off once the seal is fully formed

U need a double lumin Hickman. TPN is hard on lines. I’ve not had any problems with mine. It’s also a power port. Why no masks on in hospital?? And that nurse is dealing with a sterile field. It’s the law to have one on.

I live and work as a nurse in Australia and set up TPN/ work with central lines regularly. You do not need to have a mask on when setting up a sterile field over here. Every state, country and hospital dose things differently based off research and what they believe is best practice or hospital policy. In NSW they have mandated that all hospital staff to wear masks, in WA that is not the case currently.

They likely didn’t want to replace it because it can mess up the veins you go through to place central lines. Repeat line placements can make that vein unusable for a line. And there are only so many veins to use

@@mikki_s1100 Yes, but theres also a point as a Clincian that it is time to evaluate when it is time to do that. Now, I am not indepthly familiar with hickmanns, but I know that certain lines, like IVs are modular, so you have the catheter, than your line screws into it. So if the Hickmann is modular, than you can simply leave the needle and replace the lines.

@@MichaelJTritter44 hickmans aren’t modular like that unfortunately. To replace it the whole thing would have to be removed, it goes all the way into her heart, and then a new one put in. But I agree, eventually you can’t just keep fixing it

@@super.radioactivity_ for me, they relax my muscles and tendons that over work due to my hyper mobility, I also get them for when I have an endometriosis flare up, which help settle my stomach muscles. They can hurt, but only if your muscles are really tight (for me that is)

To start with, read the infernal devices series, its set Victorian era-ish. The next series is still in progress, with only chain of gold released currently. Then read the main set of 6, the mortal instruments which is set 2010's (I want to say?). Finally read the dark artifices series, which is set late 2010's. Tales of the Shadowhunter academy comes somewhere after TMI, but can be read as a stand alone. After that, feel free to read any of the others in any order! Hope this helps!

@@imogenoliver there's a bloody lot of them! there's 3 in infernal devices, 1 currently for the lost hours, 6 in mortal instruments, 3 in dark artifices, and I can remember how many others 😂😂 if in doubt, read the mortal instruments first book, city of bones online, get a feel for it, see if you like it and go from there! I don't wanna think about how much money I've spent on them!

I adore Cassie Clare's books (I prefer the film. You can't got wrong with Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, but I wish they would remake it.). Please read all of the other Shadowhunter Chronicles--they are so good!!!! Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices, and then The Last Hour. Here is a link that I think is the best order to read them! Reading the books will definitely keep you busy and give you fictional company when in the hospital. I had acupuncture for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and chronic back pain - neither courses helped 👎🏻 I hope you get some relief.

Omgoodness!!! I have everyone of her books!! Read so many times. You will love the books!! You are really going to enjoy the books if you like the films and or movie!! After you read that the next ones to read is clockwork angels!! Its from Cassandra Clare also!! She has alot of books! I love the books! Have you read the House Of Night Books from P.C.CAST AND KRISTIN CAST?? This first one is Mark or Marked. Its awesome too!!

Hun, if you still take Subutex, a narcotic won’t help your pain. I’m pretty sure I told you about my surgeries..just a few months back, I had surgery number 13. A regular surgeon or dr doesn’t understand how this works totally within our body. The hospital pharmacist explained it to my new surgeon because I was prescribed 3 a day while in the hosp. I had no other narcotic! It just wouldn’t help. Anyway, I hope you spoke to your pain Dr to explain like I mentioned before. I say this coz I sure was yelled at via subscribers last time I mentioned this..lol I’m so happy for you two and your new home to be!! I’ve not popped in in a while, I don’t think the home is done yet. I know you both are so excited! xo

I agree that books are so much better than anything else. So much is lost in translation. I have been disappointed in films that came from books. I am sure you are so frustrated with your Hickman. My sister had one for quite a while when I had to do IVs for her everyday. They didn’t have to do any repairs. Thankfully. Glad to see you online again. You look great!

I love the books and never watched the series or films. Watched all of the Potter movies. Still prefer the books. I am a nerd. Like the books best. But the movies were on too. Feel you on the taxes we had to pay into taxes for the first time in years. Of course we don’t have the kids to claim anymore. We will also see what 2020 brings for taxes next year in the United States as well.

I’ve read all the books so far. I honestly liked the movie more than the tv show because I didn’t like some of the changes they made with the tv show with how the institute was set up and the pacing of the story. I loved the cast but their acting could have been better.

I love the Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments. I did not care for the film but never watched the show, I feel like the could have done so much better than they did with the movie.

I’m all about the books! BUT...I have to admit, and I’m ashamed to say, but I’m one who from time to time peeks at the ending before I even start to read the book 🤭 lol
