This is an arrangement of "Wicked Child," the stage three BGM from Konami's 1987 NES game Castlevania. I have arranged it for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES console.
Like my recent arrangements of The Silence of Daylight from Castlevania II ( • ♫THE SILENCE OF DAYLIG... ) and Heart of Fire from Castlevania ( • ♫HEART OF FIRE (Castle... ), I heard this on an official Japanese arrange album and quickly found myself wanting to attempt a similar arrangement on the SNES. The electric guitars were pretty fun to have a go at - they're not in the slightest bit realistic sounding, but they do wail pretty effectively! And there's lots of cowbell, because more cowbell is always the answer.

Here's another SNES mix done from the original Castlevania's soundtrack! Halloween's just two weeks away, so I figured why not? :)

While not my favorite *_"Castlevania"_* song (It's *_"Bloody Tears"_* ), *_"Wicked Child"_* is a close 2nd in my book. I love the melodies of both songs quite a lot. *_"BT"_* nails the eerie feel of the graphics, perfectly. *_"WC"_* is just so catchy, that it isn't funny. You just can't go wrong with the melody. Hearing it in this 16-bit form is simply awesome!

@Alfe the problem solver My neck? I do have a really cool big scar running across the side of my neck that's still pretty fresh and raw looking, but that seems like it would be a really weird topic for a video on the channel.

@Alfe the problem solver I've heard of *_"face reveals"_* , but *why* , of all things, do you want a *_"neck reveal?"_* And besides, longplay channels with no commentary generally don't do that because of personal reasons, I'd assume (😶 *_"Must... Never... Reveal Identity"_* ).

@@Dorian_Scott Nah, nothing like that. I just think that talking in most of my videos would run counter to my goals of documenting the games and for providing people a means to form their own opinions as they watch without being influenced by whatever I might think.

The OG *_"Castlevania"_* on NES. Every October, I *_ALWAYS_* make sure to play this classic game. It's a bit of a self-tradition alongside... • *The Addams Family* (1991 Movie) • *Addams Family Values* (1993 Sequel) • *Kiki's Delivery Service* ([🇯🇵 魔女の宅急便 *_"Majo no Takyūbin"_* . A 1989 *_Ghibli_* masterpiece) • *Playing Bad Games* ( *_"Fester's Quest"_* on NES) • *Doom* (The original game) And much more. But I digress. What makes this classic *_Konami_* franchise stand out to me, alongside its enemies, challenge, and aesthetic, is the music. It's easily my favorite part of these games. Just so many memorable songs, like *_"Bloody Tears"_* or *_"Monster Dance"_* . It makes the bullsh** that these games have at times, somewhat less of a hassle. Nice Arrangement, NC! 👍

I think that _Castlevania_ series music is some of the most remixed and covered video game music I've heard on the Internet in the last 20-plus years. Nice job on your own rendition to be added to the seemingly-countless amount of _CV_ remixes and covers. Keep up the good work!

Shame they never did a Castlevania All-Stars with the first three games on one cart with spruced up graphics and music. And actually spruced up, not going the half-assed Ninja Gaiden Trilogy route.

THeless talked about NGT, the better. How could they fuck up the music like that :( They had 2 jobs...and they failed at both (I guess 3 if we include the controls)!

Ugh... NGT. The game that thinks a xylophone is a good lead instrument for dramatic action tracks -_-;

@@thecunninlynguist I will defend some tracks from the first *_"Ninja Gaiden"_* on NGT, but everything else is just shockingly bad for a 16-bit port. Coupled with the *_INCREDIBLY_* underwhelming graphics, it really makes the port a massive disappointment.

The Snes arrangement on NGT made me want to cry. They completely butchered what made the NES versions classic. So much reverb and composition to make tone deaf people blush. I rented it and even though I completed them all in one sitting...Never again. My ears can only handle so much >_
