⚓️Just when you think the fun is over! Ship Joseph L Block arrives in Duluth, MN 

Something cool about the beautiful Joseph L Block: In August, 2015, the crew of the Block, responding to a distress call, diverted course and quickly located a sinking 28ft vessel. The crew threw the lone boater a line and hauled him out of the cold waters of Lake Michigan. The Coast Guard presented the crew of the Block with a lifesaving award for their role in the rescue. They also received a letter of honor from Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson. Mariners are a valiant breed.

Hey Mike. I have to admit, one of the things I miss about Duluth and the north in general is the long twilight. At 9 pm in Florida, it’s dark. I remember playing tennis up till almost 10 pm.

Mike, what a difference 3 months make. As you'll recall, you did a Livestream when the Block became the first ship to arrive.....starting the Duluth shipping season. It was 29 degrees that day.

Lived in Oregon for 8 years, saw the Pacific one time.,cold water. Have you ever been to Portland and watched the ships there!!! I bet its a tad busier.

Great Video! What vessel was further out behind te Block? I got a couple glimpses of it in the first minute.

Are the arrival and departure time of the big lake freighters posted in the local newspaper or website? I live in a suburb of Vancouver Canada so I watch the boats on youtube.

bet the curtains were in the passanger lounge area. if these vessels still carry passangers.

I've come to enjoy these video's. My small Texas town has a smaller gulf port that is growing quickly. But I have a question - why do so many people come out to see ships come into port when it is such a routine happening? Duluth cannot be that short of entertainment venues. It seems to be a cool, small town (small compared to Austin, Tx).
