Hi Liked this vlog . Might use your technique to make a ship's wheel for the living room. Two questions: what was your thinking in not trying to match the grain between pieces? And - who do you use for circular saw blade? Mine does not cut as cleaning. Love the background music. David
I wasn't specifically trying to mismatch the grain. in fact I usually try to match it but sometimes the light plays off it differently if a piece is flipped to the opposing face even if the grain matches perfectly. That's probably what you are seeing. This was a fast job so I wasn't paying much attention to those details. I usually use Canadian made FST blades for my table-saw and the mitre-saw I think had a Makita blade in it. I usually buy Makita, Freud or CMT blades for my other circular saws. I never but the cheap ones unless it's for demo type work. OF course if you want good results, make sure your blade is sharp and clean them often.
My man, Look at you go!! Love what you are doing with your video quality. You have some great shots and angles Glad I was one of your first subs cause I am damn proud of you! When are you going to start talking to us? Your friend, Jim
Hey Jim! Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the compliments. The talking...yes well. As you found out I am doing that on some of the vids. I'm kind of playing with different formats. Trying to find something that fits. The talking is a bit of a problem because my mic setups are crap and it come back to bite me in the ass every time. I need to spend some money is what it boils down to.
@@thomashverring9484 It makes a huge difference in both speed and thoroughness. Sloppy measuring and mixing is probably the culprit in 90% of epoxy problems.
They are most commonly called drafting ducks or pigs. Depends on the shape and your perspective, obviously I made mine whale shaped. We use them to control the shape of a flexible spline when drafting boats. If you watch the first couple episodes of my Bouchie dory series you’ll see them in practice. I do a simplified boat lofting lesson in those videos.
