I find it a bit sad the WG didnt add any new CG for this naval legends. They didn't even put a proper recreation of the Battle of the Denmark Strait.

Talk about inaccurate… the swordfish survived not because of its armour, but because it had NO armour - the heavy German AA was punching clean through the cloth skin without detonating. Second, Bismarck’s shots didn’t miss because of prior damage, in fact she nearly zeroed in on the old Rodney when a lucky hit blew her main fire control clean off the ship. So yeah. Glossed over details, with the ones that are left being downright misleading, and reused CGI from previous trailers? Certainly Bismarck deserves more than this!

When wargaming features soviet paper ships before featuring actual legends

Is it just me or the this video is bad in terms of quality, compares to other Naval Legends? Short duration, no new CG Visuals, ships that engaged the Bismarck were not mentioned as well as smaller incidents and details. Might just be that my expectations were too high.

I was expecting a well made CGI video like NL Yamato. Come on wargaming, Bismarck deserves a better video, respectively.

Edit: after reading more of the comments and rewatching the older naval legends videos, I have to agree that this video seems lacking on comparison to other videos in the same series... How does the Sovietsky Soyuz (which was only laid down and then scrapped in the dockyard) get a video longer than Bismarck? Bismarck is probably the most famous battleship in the Atlantic( if not in the world)

The Bismarck never had AA mounts on the B and C turrets and secondary turrets. She also never had the double radar tower on the top of the conning tower like Tirpitz she had the single like the gun director towers fore and aft

In this series it is really heartbreaking when they narrate the last battle of these legendry vessels and how they sank

Imagine a may event where you play as or fight against the Bismarck at full ranges. When you complete the operation it would act like chapters in a story. The first part would be the Hood’s destruction, second would be repairing and changing course (or sailing and charting a course for the brits in all of the ships from the real operation), and third would be the Bismarck’s destruction.

Bismarck also had a massive swastika painted on her bow and stern decks. These were painted over so that she didn’t scream “German” to any orbiting Allied aircraft. When Bismarck was found on the bottom of the Atlantic, the paint covering them had worn away, revealing the swastikas in near perfect clarity.

My grandma lived through the war as a kid. She then learned about the hood and bismarck battle on the sea. She knows everything to detail on what exactly happened. She is 90 now, still recalling everything what happened during the war. Even survived the winter we dutch call, "honger winter".

I got to correct you here WG, Bismarck actually hit the bridge of HMS Rodney and badly damaged K.G.5, he took a lot of torpedo hits which none of them caused any damage, nor did the cruisers that attacked him before. How do I know? Sabaton History of course

Finally ive waited this video for about 2-3 years Thank you world of warships for making such an amazing documentary on bismarck thank you.

Long story short, Bismarck + Prinz Eugen Vs Hood + Prince of Whales met in combat. Hood started by sniping Bismarck from 22km and missed. They got closer and closer, Bismarck got hit 3 times by Prince of Whales but nothing major coz of turtleback armor. Prinz Eugen HE spammed the Hood and got perma fire. Bismarck and Hood exchanged salvos, and Rngesus said yes to Bismarck for slava level dispersion, thus, Bismarck did "devastating strike" into Hood's citadel at her 5th salvo while Hood was turning at 14km. (since WG removed combat signal rewards, Hood didn't get Juliet Charlie flags for her probably magazine "detonation"). Prinz Eugen was ordered to separate ways so that she could HE spam the ocean liners for "Shark among shrimps" achievement which gives crap tons of XP. Meanwhile, Brits sent 57 surface ships including carriers and also 8 submarines that is basically overkill. Nevertheless, Tier 6 carrier Ark Royal started to focus Bismarck since she was alone, KGV and Rodney also probably HE spammed Bismarck in order to cripple her. Tier 4 Swordfish planes from Tier 6 carrier tried to torpedo dive the Bismarck. Just like classic WoWs fashion, AA means nothing. hence, so-called one of the best AA from Tier 8 Battleship couldn't defend herself against Tier 6 carrier using crap planes. Bismarck got topedo-ed into her rudder by tier 6 carrier Ark Royal, couldn't turn, ended up getting KS torpedo-ed by county class cruiser (similar ship to HMS London tier 6). Morale of the story, if you play german BB, get a HE spamming cruiser with you for maximum annoyance and pray Rngesus for good dispersion. W key isn't always good and never trust your AA since tier 6 Carrier can perma fk you up very easily if you are alone. If you play Brit BBs or BCs, don't show broadside since your cidatel is huge otherwise got dev-striked. Wows is pretty much historically accurate game just by this battle alone LMAO.

I have never commented on RU-vid but I had to for this one. This is massively disappointing wg. This ship deserves an ACTUAL naval legend video, it's not like there is not a lot to talk about in terms of this ship. It's sad how long people have been waiting for this episode and all we got was a 13 minute video on the story everyone and there brother knows of how the ship sunk and NOTHING ELSE. This gets an absolute dislike from me.

Thank you Mr. Detsis for clarifying the issue of the yellow paint on the tops of the turrets. Most books don't even mention this together with the fact that the diagonal dazzle paint stripes almost always depicted on models were painted out presumably in Grimstad Fiord. Such dazzle paint was only of use to deceive her size at close range but would make her more visible at a distance. Unfortunately, the narrator mispronounces the name of Bismarck's escort ship Prinz Eugen as "Yew gen." The name is properly pronounced "Oy gen" with the "g" hard as in "get". Other errors too as comments below.

Where's the Zuikaku? The ship literally sailed for 3 straight years against an inreasingly powerful US navy, and sailed alone after the Shoukaku sank. That is a naval legend.

I thought Bismarck was ultimately sunk by scuttling charges set by the crew.

Bismarck's crew scuttled a 51000 ton mountain of sinking, flaming scrap metal. All guns silenced, her superstructure devastated, her main armour belt broken in several places along her port side, her command staff obliterated, internally aflame from end to end, her stern and port gunwales already underwater and hundreds of her crew already in the water behind her.... All the scuttling did was to sink her a few minutes earlier than was already happening. In the world of boxing the crew's scuttling efforts are what is known as "throwing in the towel", submission of a boxer when he has been punched senseless by a more powerful opponent, and only a fool would say, "the loser wasn't beaten, he gave in before he was annihilated.", when the truth is the loser had his arse handed to him on a plate.

it should be mentioned that the Hood was one of the Prides of the British navy and for about 20 years was considered the most powerful warship in the world. "The Mighty Hood" It's sinking was the largest loss of life the British had ever lost on a single ship and also what directly lead the to the Sinking of the Bismark. (Prince of wales couragesly tracked it's movement even though it was badly damaged to help the rest of the fleet find it.) Churchill famously ordered for it to be destroyed.

Bismarck is still the most beautiful battleship I have ever seen to this day. I wish she had a chance to sail together with her sister, Tripitz at least once. My dream is to become a navy officer one day and If I ever have a chance, I will try to bring back the glorious days of Battleships.
