The load sensors are why this is broken into 2 scales, you can either have resolution and very little load, ie 0.01g @ 500g limit, or you can have load but less resolution. It's just a limitation we have to live with. The micro scales are great when using spice like cloves, where you might use 0.2 of a gram in a recipe, if you use a scale with just 0.1 resolution you cant tell if you have 0.15g rounded to 0.2g or 0.24g rounded down to 0.2g which give you a 25% error either side and inconsistent results. 0.01g resolution means you can accurately measure 0.20g every time.
Ha! Thanks for this … I had spent so much time looking for such a scale to give me greater gram measurements. Missed seeing this on Amazon prime day !!
Thanks so much for letting us know about this scale. I ordered one immediately for $36.99. I use two scales at the same time frequently just like the two integrated here and can't wait to only have one unit to deal with and keep track of. The only thing it's missing is the hold function, but I don't use it that often and can live without it. Thanks again!
thanks for the review! I'm intrigued because I have two scales and with both, the weighing plate isnt large enough for me to really get a good view of the digital display. This one appears to have a larger surface area but also having the display off to the side seems handy!
Does the smaller scale interfere with a weighing of a larger surface like a paper plate? Also, it was strange the two scales had a significant difference in the weight of your salt container.
Thanks for the review. I didn't see a follow up so I have a question or two... how quickly does this scale time out and shut down on its own? Also, is it easy to clean? Do the weighing surfaces come off for cleaning underneath them? I tend to make a mess when I'm measuring flour.. thanks!
I have a Taylor Scale that I got at Costco a coup[e of years ago. I really like it but it also has 4 different types of weights - oz, pound and ounce, grams and ml. I do not use the ml at all. If I want to measure ml I pour water into my Pyrex cup. It is the second scale I’ve had - first one was similar to your old one in shape and size. It was from Pampered Chef and I did like it. About 5 years after I got it it broke. I like the bigger size of the Taylor, I think it cost me $12 at Costco. Thanks for the review.
Hmmmm, I might get it. My current one is fine. And looks very nice. But if I just accidentally touch it, it turns on. And it does take several seconds to press the button to turn off. That is ok, but the buttons don't press in. You just put your finger on the button and don't feel it engage. I never really loved that. I can see myself measuring two things at once. We'll see if I do.
I like the fact that the numbers and gram display is large enough. My scale, I have to put my glasses on in order to read if I have it on grams, ounces, lbs. Etc.
I would assume the small scale is for coffee. I can not imagine what ingredient needs to be measured to the 100th of a gram. Does this come with some kind of rubber top? the brushed metal will look dirty very quickly. Grams is the same as milliliters. The only useful units are pounds, grams and ounces. All the others are gimmicks.
