BTW, it is very telling how Elizabeth’s attention is always drawn to Nathan even when she is with Lucas, but towards the end of the video, you see her walking with Nathan and not a glimpse toward Lucas as they walked by.

Yes, that's what I believe too. Lucas was a gambler and competitor. He was attracted to Elizabeth and wanted her for himself. He wanted to win Elizabeth's affections and love at all costs. He wanted her as his trophy wife. 😂 So, he was willing to be Elizabeth's safe love.. But Lucas knew that Nathan and Elizabeth loved each other. You could see it in all the dirty looks Lucas gave Nathan. If Lucas was so certain of his relationship with Elizabeth, he wouldn't give Nathan those nasty looks when he saw Elizabeth and Nathan together. He knew Elizabeth and Nathan had deep, loving feelings for each other that Elizabeth wasn't willing to admit. So Elizabeth just tried to be friends with Nathan. Lucas knew that Nathan and Elizabeth were friends,, but really it was so much more....Lucas knew.. We know Nathan admitted several times how he felt about Elizabeth. Nathan was nothing but honest with Elizabeth. It's time for Elizabeth to admit to Nathan that she loves him. ❤ Lucky for Elizabeth that Nathan was a patient man. True love. Love is patient.

@@mrsacosI have been wondering-what season and episode was the one where L and E were parting company but E saw N and Allie and went over to them? Seeing this, L changed his mind and followed E. Recently, I went back and watched the episode of E’s book signing. L was content to sit on the side and watch as E greeted the buyers and autographed their books, but when N stepped up to the table, L stood up and came over. We all know that E “chose” L at the end of Season 8 but going back and looking at S9, there were signals early in S9 even before L proposed marriage at the end of S9. In the 2nd or 3rd episode when N and Newton were injured, E remained waiting until she could get in to see him. But when everybody first heard of his injury, it was E (because she knew how much N loved his horse) who immediately after learning that N was alive and being cared for, showed immediate concern for Newton. Sure enough, N wanted to see E so he could trust her to see that Newton would be taken care of. E came to see him later with cards she had the kids make. She sat by his bed and the two of them went through them like an old married couple smiling over their shared treasures. Also, early on E showed signs of growing weary of the need for each date or time spent together being an extravagant event, even telling him that he did not need to try to make each date be so over the top. You also saw him being preoccupied with business and so putting their plans on hold. And throughout the season you knew she had concerns that he would not be content to stay in HV. ONE LAST OBSERVATION-L business dealings and characters from his past brought unwanted elements into their lives. Once, as he was leaving her house, someone roughed him up. So, yes, there had been plenty signs, (if you took the time to read the fine print) from the very beginning of her “choosing “ Lucas, of trouble in paradise for this pairing of L and E.
The scene where she and Lucas are standing and talking says it all. Nathan passes by and she totally forgets Lucas is there. Her eye catches the beautiful man on the horse and she is powerless to look away, turning completely away from Lucas. This was a pretty powerful statement of her true feelings.

I agree Lucas and Elizabeth were so beautiful together ❤️ she needs a change in her life and he was perfect. He made sure she got her library and he was wonderful with little Jack He loved her so much he would have done anything for her. Actually he did he ran for Senator because that's what she wanted. And I think she did that to get him out of the way so she could deal with Nathan .I think it's very sad. How she ended it with him I cried it was horrible 😢 he was so heart broken you could see it in his eyes 😢 it upset me because she got his hopes at the bridge and told Lucas it's always been him. And she gave him a watch and said our time has come my heart is broken 💔 for Lucas I hope he finds a beautiful gorgeous woman and brings her to hope valley . I hope she is sweet and kind and loves him with all her heart ❤️ I feel sorry for Nathan because she made him look like a fool the whole time. But my heart belongs with Elizabeth and Lucas so how is she going to explain this nonsense to little jack😢
Also he believed in his heart she could write a book and he and his mother helped her. It almost looked like she used him to get what she wanted. I hope Lucas mom comes back and tells Elizabeth exactly what she thinks of her.

I saw nothing of that. Lucas was always standing there and watching them. He used different methods to get close to Elisabeth like the book and the library. He even took her to see her favorite author. Because that’s his way to get close to her. And even with all those lavish things Nathan and her established a connection and deep love by just talking and understanding each other and trying to heal together. Even Lucas mother rolled her eyes when Elisabeth denied she has feelings for the Mountie. Lucas put himself in the position to run for governor . When Elisabeth raised the question about something is fishy he shut her down and even were annoyed when she were trying find out at his saloon/restaurant. Only when everything came to light did Lucas sweep in took over everything. Even Lee said that’s what Lucas wants about the election. Nathan loves Elisabeth and wants her to be happy even if it’s not with him. When she got close to Lucas he was ready to move on and take his promotion. Later when he realized that Elisabeth does really have feelings for him he tried to fight for her and get through to her about her fear. But when she thought he was dead she shut him out completely. That’s what we all saw and said during season 8. Why is he a fool trying to protect the woman he loves and wants to see her happy? He said he always will be there for Elisabeth and even got her Lucas back twice. He wasn’t after Elisabeth in season 10. He was just trying to be a supportive friend and saw she was struggling. Even rosemary saw that. He tried to make it work with Faith until she broke it off.
