This video speaks so much truth to me right now. It's strange, but I was only thinking the other day about all the Catholic videos I watch, Fr. Mike Schmitz, The Catholic Talk Show, Ascension Presents and a ton of other Catholic podcasts ... but what fr. Mark said is so true. We NEED to do our own reading and learning. During Lent I spent some time away from RU-vid and I definitely felt my understanding of the Catholic faith grew. What I really love about Fr. Mark's channel is he so often points us towards great books. Thank you 🙏🕊✝❤

I teacher religion in a very small, private Catholic academy. We use the Baltimore Catechism, as well as the Faith and Life series. It has been beneficial to me! I never went to a catholic school when growing up, and received a weak catechism at best. So teaching my students with this book is helping me too.

I was blessed by being brought up on 'The Penny Catechism.' May it ince again be tought/Memorised in out Catholic Schools. My addled brain can still recall the mist important answers when I hear the question.

Thank you Father, I DO have the old, old Catechism from my grade school days, BEFORE the apostasy that took place at Vatican II (1962-65) Many of the clergy present during those sessions said they felt like Satan was present in the room with them. I follow only Traditional Catholic, no meat on Fridays, respecting the Eucharist. Today the Eucharist is not Consummated because that Right was taken from Holy Orders. Thanks to John XXXIII. We learn something everyday. You're working hard, Father, I can see it.

I get a bit off topic but: Supremely excellent!! That's the catechism they taught me, and in fact, my mother as well. They taught everyone that catechism in the past, everyone. It is essential and even in this day I rely on what they taught. A sacrament is an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace, you won't get that anywhere these days. Which is why, aside from the non-liturgical blessings of alleged "couples" in super grave sin, i.e. objective mortal sin, I see an outward sign, instituted by the pope to allegedly give grace as a faux sacrament, a kind of non-sacrament sacrament. NO call to repent of anything, except maybe being an American and thinking borders are needed. But, I digress. Mercy for all, but let's include truth in the mix. The scandal is in the optics more than anything else. Two guys holding hands while getting a blessing by a Catholic priest is in fact, grooming the viewer of the image. I know this because I know the innocence of my grandchildren, every woman is a momma and every man a Dada. It is how they see it. Why then, should two grown men display their proclivities before the innocent ones? The angels of these little ones behold the face of the Father, and we need not encourage in any way the ideas that cheapen marriage, or compete with it. The pope made an error, in my poor judgement. HE has no grandbabies, he has only the likes of Rupnik and the kissy book writer, and the head of the Jesuits who does not believe in the devil. Now, my judgments, ideas, evaluations, and opinions can be wrong, and I may be wrong in my opinion as to the nature of the strange new blessing, I know Jesus is indeed merciful, even if I fail in such things. However, scandal is a thing. Just because much of the church and the world are dead to anything being a scandal, nonetheless, it all looks a lot like subterfuge to me, clothed in "mercy" and likely created by deep stupidity more than malice, as far as the pope is concerned. No offense meant to anyone, and no disrespect to the papal office either, you may disagree, and you may be right. But as for me, there's a stink on things that did not have to happen.

I have Baltimore Catechisms going back to 1885. I was raised on the Baltimore Catechism. When I taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade Catechism in PSR or CCD class, I used the questions and answers from the Baltimore Catechism along side of the very weak approved texted.

Oh my goodness. My Mom God love her, used to make us memorize 10 questions in the Baltimore Catechism every week when we were growing up. If we did something bad instead of grounding us we had to learn the appendix questions which are the hardest questions in the book. My older brother was always getting those. He didn't have to study them. Lol

When I was a kid (over six decades ago) we were required to know the Q and As for the Baltimore Catechism for first communion, penance, and confirmation training. We got so good the sisters could just say the number and we could all recite the question and answer!! Is it no wonder why younger Catholics, even those who went to parochial schools are poorly trained, don't believe Christ is present in the Eucharist, etc?

Haven't really thought about the Baltimore Catechism in a long time! Probably when I was preparing for Confirmation (1963)

I love the Baltimore catechism! I re-read the first 70 questions in about 20 minutes the other day. Reminds me of making my confirmation!🕊🙏

The Baltimore Catechism was the catechism of my youth until about the age of ten when catechesis changed to the Sadlier series. Its contents are very familiar to me and many others who can still answer a number of those questions!

No, i don’t think i could. I can answer questions by non believers and share my faith but you have convinced me that i need to and will pull out my copy and go thru the points until I’m comfortable in how to present the faith to those wishing conversion. Because after all, Jesus IS real and all we believe is no fairy tale. When that becomes evident to the world, we believers will need to step it up and be prepared to do what we can. ❤ I've already been thinking about this topic. I think I would be a great idea to have MANY people get certified to become EMs, so that IF NECESSARY, a priest in secret can consecrate the host and a small group could then take them to other small groups and so on.

You're hitting a point here father. Also how many of us know that in a life critical situation, and if a priest is not available, anyone (even a non Catholic, as long as he or she wishes to do what the Church does) can baptize someone who wants to become a Catholic ? It applies only in a life critical situation but it is important to know that and to know how to do it. I asked my priest

Praise be Jesus Christ. What a great idea. Is there a teaching outline how to teach the Catholic Faith? With 2000+ years, there has to be something out there. How to teach a 6 year old… to 86. Years and years of teaching from Catholic Schools to public school children, on how to receive the sacraments… starting from Genesis to Revelation… Is there some sort of suggested way to do this?
