Is this an intentional FEATURE or an EXPLOIT or oversight from the developers? Let me know what you think below! I'm aware that trading to complete a Pokedex has been around since GEN 1, but fulfilling a certain amount of caught species is brand new to PLA - hence why this is so busted.
It's a feature, evolving a pokemon also counts as catching a pokemon. Any way you aquire a mon counts as catching. It would also be really hard for the game to remember every mon you've ever traded, so it won't know you are returning the same mon.
Not sure this is an exploit after all, when you evolve a Pokemon it counts as "Caught" as well. caught in this game is likely just the same as "acquired"
also, all pokemon games i've played worked like this.... kind of the point when some pokemon were locked into another version. (the oddish and bellsprout trades in OG red and blue)
Also say for example you evolve gibble into gabite on gabite Dex page it increases "the number evolved" entry as well as on gibble even though you evolved the gibble not the gabite
I didn't know Pichu were rare. Saw them often when going up to Floaro Gardens to grind on Beautifly and sometimes there were even 2 of them at the same time. It was also easy to catch them, I caught 7 (out of 11) without even being spotted.
How did you do it? My ultra balls just keep bouncing off the Pichu, no matter how close. Is it because I'm doing backstrikes? And it doesnt show an X when I press ZL... I tried normal poke balls too, and the same happened.
@@delighyt i just used wing balls when i caught the ones i found, maybe try not using the aim assist it may help, i never really had problens with catching them
I didn’t know either. I saw pichu in the wild multiple times and then just the other day I got a mass outbreak of pichu when I was tryna shiny hunt for eevee (I got two shiny eevee in one outbreak lol)
My first Pichu was Alpha. I found them flying from Heights camp and flying to the area that Oreburrow Tunnel’s title is over the map. It’s on the cliff area right before the area where Alpha Magicarp is at. The spawns there are usually Kricketot, Zubat (at night), rare Pikachu and even more rare Pichu. I found them on a grind to find shiny Magicarp Alpha (which is obviously rarer)
The distortion spawns are in 2 flavors. Every x number of seconds 2-3 mons cycle based on a pool that is unique to the area. The other is also unique to the area, but spawn in when you go near the spot within the distorted area. This second type does not despawn until the distortion fades. The 1st and second starter stages, Sneasal/Weavile, and Magnemite/Magneton are in this second pool and is fairly exploitable.
Quilfish move has 15 pp letting you use it 8 times without recovering pp, Stantler’s has 10. You can only use it 5 times and it can miss. I had to use it 26 times before evolving. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Also if you change moves the new move the slot will retain pp so you can give your Pokémon a new move in the 0 pp slot then immediately go back and replace a higher pp move with the move you want.
I found that after useing le skill 20+ it didn't want to evolve until after it leveled. idk why but that being said theres no level "requirement" just bump it6 up one . :p
I’m gonna try and fill out my perfect Dex as much as I can on my own at first, and then if it gets to it I’ll start doing the touch trade stuff, but this is still extremely helpful info.
Also if you caught an alpha pre-evo and evolve that Pokémon to its last stage, the Pokédex will say that you caught an alpha last stage Pokémon. By evolving my alpha Graveler into a Golem, I managed to "caught" an alpha Golem so that when I actually caught a true alpha Golem I had two instead! So you know, catch every alpha Pokémon you see even though is a Wurmple
Facts. The “Catch an Alpha” requirement really is easy because those Alpha Pokémon are Static spawns in the same spot in the overworld. I’ve got a guide to all of those in the playlist.
So legends is your 1st Pokemon game your playing again after so long? Good choice 😊. I'd also recommend Platinum, Omega Ruby or Alpha Saphire , X or Y, and Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon.
@@RedBolt7 I definitely don't recommend X/Y or US/UM if you're getting back into pokémon. I'd say you're good off if you're playing Platinum and/or Black and White, OR/AS is also not a bad pick.
I feel like this was intentional because most people can’t just trade back with themselves or even a friend so if you do have someone able to do that they want to encourage your ability to trade with friends to finish your dex. That’s a nice touch and I hope they save it and don’t remove it.
If that's true it also involves Nintendo online... So it also encourages people to pay for the online services and to make more money. If this is true.... Well played Nintendo well played. Especially considering how the game has sold so well and people are trying to 100% the game. Yeah could definitely be a intentional thing.
@Coffee drinking Gradevoir Unfortunately I wondered that as well. I don't think you can trade with just wifi and a code... but then again if you can use wifi to get lost items for people maybe if you have a local friend and wifi or a friend on the system who your friends with already? I'm unsure as I haven't tried or had anyone to attempt it with.

One time in swsh I touch traded a guy my zacian for his zamazenta named “Zacian??” To complete the Pokédex Without thinking or considering that he might’ve just bought shield and didn’t want zamazenta, and I kinda started to worry I might not get it back, but luckily the guy traded it right back. Oh my gosh, I remember like 6 or 7 years ago I was trying to beat Yo-Kai Watch on the 3DS and I was stuck. Your videos were the only way I got through that game.
*NOTE: The best way to do this is if you alone or you and your close friend have both with the pokémon you have a full living pokédex! That way you can just look at every pokédex entry and touch trade the most rare pokémon (starters, sneasel, cranidos, shieldon, porygon, spiritomb, some legendaries or mythicals). Be aware like said in the video, be careful!*
As long as getting a perfect is not mandatory I was fine getting the 10 that I needed, plus there's no really reason for getting a perfect besides slightly increasing the chance to get shiny pokemon which is already easy enough

I think this may be intended, since even your own mons suffer from the disobedience cap. Do traded mons get boosted exp still? Because if not, there's no difference mechanically.
@@eclipseshea5342 Totally agree with you! Double Edge and Wave Breaker with my lvl 51-ish Basculin with 190 hp actually took around 250-275 hp but yeah I just went grinding in the Obsidian Fiedlands
Try attacking weak Pokemon, it doesn't have to be done all in one battle and healing won't effect it, then just keep doing it till it says it can evolve
From experience I’d say your best bet of finding Cherubi and Cherrim are at Coronet Highlands, I got a Cherrim from one tree and an alpha Cherubi from another tree both in the same run. I’d also say Togepi and its evolutionary line are quite rare as well, I went through the game’s whole story without even seeing a Togepi in the wild.
there is a location in cobalt that always has a togepi. there is a location in mirelands that always has a togetic and in lake verity there is a guaranteed togekiss
Thats what I did....took me literally 12 hours of checking the tree's at coronet highlands and going back to camp to sleep and re set it. It's super annoying and I think it should be patched.
@@afibuffygirl i just waited for an outbreak. you need multiple cherubi for cherrim dex anyway, unless you wanna level cherrim up to the high 40's until it learns petal dance
I think it's intentional due the fact you can trade in order to fill your pokedex faster, I doubt they patch it otherwise how they make it so it only counts 1 time rather than trading same pokemon over and over. Though I feel trading back and forth the entire dex is just as tedious as just catching them lol.
I don't think that it's a bug to be honest. It's been a thing since the start of pokemon. It works in pokemon go and every pokemon game that I can think of. You can get medals and stuff in pokemon go for pokemon you've traded (count as caught). Same with sword and shield and almost all other pokemon games I can think of.
Pretty handy but I personally just found it easier to sit around waiting for a distortion, kick back with a coffee and watch a movie with the switch nearby or something similar :P
Oof. Calculate just how many Pokémon are locked to Space-time distortions, how many are spawns in those three spots, how many you have to catch, and how long on average it takes to spawn a distortion. That’s “easier” than finding a buddy and trading a few Pokémon back and forth? 🧐
I actually had 5 peat blocks before finishing the story xD running a full eeveelutions team I was huting evolution stones so I was digging with ursaluna all the time,... just didn't find the right stones xD
Speaking of Space-Time Distortions, my first time experiencing it was... hectic. I only started not too long ago, so I'm missing out a lo. Anyway, during which, the most notable Pokemon that I managed to get was a Sneasel, but the nature wasn't good at all. Still, it freaked me out that there were suddenly massive amounts of Pokemon popping out here and there! I only had two reliable Pokemon on my team at that time which were the Alpha Lopunny and Staravia (which, though shiny, had a -Def nature on him). The rest of them were there to leach of a bit of EXP as I try to complete their respective Dex entries. In the end I actually got overwhelmed to the point that I just started running around in circles while collecting items and all. Surprisingly I got two Sun Stones, so there's that. And an Electirizer.
I fine unless I've missed something you don't need to get a perfect Dex for every pokemon. Like for Ursaluna what's the point. You can't find it in the wild as far I know and you can give it only through evolution. So just getting the Dex to 10 is worth it right?
@@Derwoofwolf yes it does but if the Pokemon can't be spawned in the wild or in a rift is what I mean that it might not be worth it. Like I said ursaluna unless I'm missing it does not show up in a rift or in the wild and only from evolution that you can get it by evolving. So in this case I don't think you need to perfect Dex him but you want to do it for Stage 1 and 2
"You may not have time to sit there with them in your party to make them more friendly" LMAO I grinded to not only find three female Eevees but then to individually raise their friendship til I got Sylveon, Espeon, and Umbreon. It might have been a bit unnecessary, but I found it fun.
@@Sanjonero408sleepy I had them help me forage, I never sent them into battle. I'd have them break those ore rocks or smack trees to get berries. Those actions raise Friendship with the pokemon just like winning battles does. "Grinding" just means I sank in the time and effort to get the job done without taking a break.

I’ve been filling out the perfect Pokédex as I quest for Shinies, it fills out naturally by itself. Also hunting for Alpha Spiritombs, I have 3 Spiritombs now if anyone wants one 🤣🤷♀️🔮
They have online trading but no online battling, I really hope a Pokemon battle revolution gets released, one with all pokemon from every generation til now, so if you want to battle take it there
Pichu is pretty easy to find and just playing through the story and even just completing other Pokédex entries I’ve amassed so many evolution items I don’t need to do anything.
I noticed this a few days ago when trading the other starters I didnt have to a new file. I hope it was intentional because some pokemon are hard to obtain through normal means & no breeding, so its a pain.
How is this video almost 17 minutes lol? Trades count for the number caught in Pokédex, there done! Another thing I’ve been doing as a solo player is evolving Luxio or anything that evolves through level instead of catching their evos.
In previous games, if you touch traded back a pokemon you owned, it would say "welcome back, XYZ" . Surprised this game code doesn't recognize your previously owned pokemon
This isnt an exploit its just regular feature in pkmn games… therefore not really usable and doable when playing alone and have to do it with strangers all the time
My research lvl 10 is almost complete. Just 2 are required: a 2nd pichu .....and a porygon which can be only found in space time distortion.unfortunately ,i evolved the porygon when I first got it without research lvl10😐 Edit-From watching this video I got to know that I'm missing a cleffa ,thnx 4 dat

Help with the endgame final boss frenzy gauge refill glitch? Arceus gauge keeps refilling despite me hitting continue with previous progress. I am on the latest update. Any help would be appreciated as its the last step.
I'd be pretty surprised if the developers bothered patching this, since the process is not very fun, requires coordinating with another player, and only really benefits completionists plus Game Freaks has generally always encouraged anything that gets players to play the game together, so they might not even mind it
Pretty sure it's a feature, I've been using this with a friend here and there. I love that the game recognizes you are the ot and says it returned to you, but it gives a new dex entry each time you trade it.
That’s the point? Pokémon game you can’t blitz to completion in 1 day. It’s fun though. It’s nice to have a game play loop involving catching Pokémon while not being mandatory
Figured this out day one but sadly my buddy got sick so I purchased a second copy and am just sitting here now before the bridge only missing a few entries aka beating mons with moves.
I don’t understand why the Sinnoh/Hisui fossil Pokémon are in space/time distortions when they are supposed to be native and the game is technically in “ancient” times.
So if I actually want those pokemon for keeps on my main game. I'll delete save data from my other switch, and send me the starter pokemon several times, and trade those later to people if I want. The second switch is a blank just to starter pokemon farm.
Well I’m just hoping my preorder will be delivered this time, even though it’s apparently being delivered by the a one star shipping company I’m pretty it’s not easy even for them to find the address of a house that has just recently constructed
I highly doubt this is actually a bug, as other people have pointed out, evolving also marks off the caught feature. The still doesn't do anything to help people have magicarp not have to use splash 100 times

So uh I got the peat block 1st time no trying it was a accident I then used a random kirila to put the alpha urea ring to sleep used false swipe for 1 hp I was not even out of the crimson Moreland before I got a alpha ursaluna
So the "busted" method here is... Find somebody with everything you need and touch trade with them? Yeah something tells me this isn't getting patched.
So, if I decide to do a second playthrough on my other Switch, I would just have to go long enough to unlock the trading post, right? I don't need to do a full playthrough?

@@lizgawin899 just fricking watch Austin John's wisps videos, they're super ez to get from there and later if you want you can hunt for the 0.87% spiritomb [can be shiny and alpha]
So I found out thanks to Austin John plays and iv tested it my self as long as you stand still at camps it's 5 10 15 20 25 and 100 precent at 40 mins for space
