This video is 100 times better than the HD instructions. Better than the parts guys that tried to explain this to me. Thank you for producing this video.
I just picked up a Tour-Pak for my 2019 Road Glide Special. I have the bike set up for solo riding. I went with the Harley-Davidson (HD) solo rack, and docking hardware. While there are sets of instructions for each the docking hardware, rack, and the Tour-Pak, there is nothing to bring the installation all together. Your video does! When you show the six mounting lug positions for accessories, all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you! The HD instructions do not even mention the shock absorber mounting position. Subscribed, because I like your very thorough and clear delivery. I appreciate it!
Hey EJ....harley has a tendency to assume we all know what were doing lol...Im still leaning to this day...thank you foe checking it out and im glad it helped you. Every have any questions on anything let me know.
The explanation about the oblong mounting point worked like a champ! I spent too much time working on installing the tour pak only to take 5 min after your explanation. Thanks!
You Sir, have my undying gratitude!!! I finished installing a detach tour pack yesterday and was really disappointed that I could only use my luggage rack from my previous Road King, on my Ultra. I have been looking thru the Harley parts book for a replacement passenger backrest but it said it needed a 4 point docking system. I have a a four point docking system obviously but when I tried to attach the backrest I wasn’t able to find where it could click in. Low and behold I came across your video tonight and your perfectly laid out instructions allowed me to locate the 2 extra docking points! OMG !! You have just saved me at least $300 by not having to buy another backrest!! I subscribed last night after watching a video of yours and I can’t thank you enough. I was so excited I ran out to the garage to see if it would work and sure enough it did and it’s cold as hell right now and after midnight. Thank you thank you thank you!!! You da man!!
Thank you! This might be simple to most but for someone that's brand new this calms nerves. Yes I probably could have figured all this out but being able to watch it first save me time and let's me be more comfortable doing it on a bike that cost 3 times as much as my truck lol.
Im glad the video helped you Ryan..im sure there be a lot of videos on my channel that can guide as you go into this bike,...if you have any questions let me know.
Thanks for the video....I have the two up tour pack and was convinced I had to put the front bracket onto the shocks, you don't! You put them on the front docking..... you saved me much frustration and scratches on the bike.
LMAO! I WAS GOING TO TAKE A GRINDER TO MY QUICK RELEASES TOMORROW MORNING! SOMEONE WAS WATCHING OVER ME CAUSE I CAME ACROSS THIS VIDEO TONIGHT! THANKS FOR MAKING IT!
Thanks for checking it out Donald....thats what I tell my son al the time...take the time each day to learn one new thing...could be something small...something huge...this day and age we have the world at our fingertips....its easy to learn one new thing everyday. Have A Happy New Year!
Hey Sik Baggers-Enjoy your videos brother! Informative, detailed, hands-on experience with great instruction skills. I find myself coming back to SIk Baggers for hellp with parts installations on my 2017 H-D Road Glide Ultra. Very helpful. I am struggling with this install. Appreciate your hard work. Thank you brother, God Bless! Johnnyboy!
Enjoy you’re videos. Would you please clarify what position the black plastic bushing should be in for the pass backrest to fit. The little notch should be where? Thanks
Thanks for the video I have a 2007 road king classic and I need to relocate the license plate how do I that so it does not look bad Thanks for the help in advance
I ran into a problem with the two up mounting bracket myself it wasn’t advanblack stuff but still had the same issue it was with the front getting it to slide in it was really a tight fit I almost called up someone to ask wtf am I doing wrong but after working that bracket in a few times started to get a lot easier actually are used a little lubricant for the top mount it went in with no issues back had no issues clicked right in
yeah they are all tight when they are new and it will get slightly easier as you take it on and off. We installed one yesterday on my buddies bike and it did the same thing. Tight up front and on the back I adjusted the pegs round and it went right on but tight. Thats a good thing though. Id rather have it tight than sloppy loose. Glad you got it! If you ever need help man just call the advan service line and youll get me.
Steve any idea why my tour pack bracket is loose fitting I just bought this 2015 road glide so I'm not sure where the bracket is from not sure if it's a harley one or not but u can move the tourpack if u grab the bottom rear it will move like 1/4 inch maybe less but def movement
The black plastic points you attach the rack to are supposed to be egg shaped...roll those until they are tight. thats about the only reason it would be loose
@@sikbaggers just a quick question what is the difference between your chopped tour pak an the one on Amazon that is half the price if you can let me know I would appreciate it thank you
@@benpadilla157 Hey Ben there are several you can find on amazon and ebay...I have not seen them all in person but it has been my experience with these packs that they thinner than ours for sure. One we got in you could twist it in your hands...pretty flimsy. From what I gathered from our painters that the vivid black ones had no primer on them either..just a coat of black and a coat of clear...We just recently had all brand new molds made that made our already thicker pack even thicker and of course the paint quality is much better. primer, paint and the same clear coat they use on the Telsas...very sturdy stuff. Like I said I cannot speak for all of them but im assuming if its the price of ours its going to be pretty filmsy and crappy paint.
@@sikbaggers hey brother just a quick question you are in marion il my brother lives 15 miles from there told him about your videos an was wondering do you have a shop because he is saying I am lieing to him I told him nope that's where he is located thanks for the come back take care an god bless
The only problem I had and it's not the fault of AB is when I was placing the tour pack bracket with the King tour pack attached, on to the 4 point docking system. Being the tour pack is big, bulky and kinda whompy when messing with it, I scratched my fender trying to line it up.
yeah the lings packs are heavy and awkward..I usually mount them on the pack after I get the bracket installed and I have one person holding it as I set it up...or if im by myself I will throw a cheap blanket over the fender.
Can you or someone PLEASE make a tour pack bracket that will fit over a saddlemen 2 up seat in the forward position aka solo. In other words it would mount over the passanger portion of the seat. If I wanted to ride a pasanger could just move it back to the standard position.
There used to be a company that made one....not sure they are around anymore though...they were pretty expensive if I remember right...upwards of 900 bucks
I would be in for that. I think the detachable tour pack bracket could just be made with longer legs and it could mount on the rear shocks with a longer bolt and detachable docking hardware and the rear bracket in the detachable docking hardware set up for the front when installed in the two up position. Make a much taller detachable tour pack rack to fit over passenger seat for solo.
Hello SIK Baggers I have a 2003 Road King Classic and have a standard back rest but I am looking at a Two up tour pack do I need and extra/add on mounting points on my bike ?
Im hoping you can help me.....I have an 03,FLHRI RoadKing. I have the docking station on the bike and the back rest for my wife but now I want to put a tour pak on. I found the tour pak and love it but, I cannot seem to find the part like the one your showing that fits my year and model....Can you help, do you know of a company that makes one for my RoadKing..??
so heres the deal on pre 08 bikes...if you have 2 points in the back right now and you are attaching the backrest to the 2 points and the top of your shocks(where it goes) then you will need to add an additional 2 points in the back..so its a 4 point docking system..your tour pack does not mount in the same place as your backrest does. so check your bike to see what you have... if you already have that then you can get the bracket. So check out my video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UqaJg6LF9qU.html on Advanblack that shows the 4 point system being installed. Here is the link to the bracket system dn mounting rack that you need. www.advanblack.com/advanblack-chrome-detachable-two-up-tour-pak-mounting-rack-harley-touring-97-08.html None of them are bike specific...they fit all touring models.
Unfortunately you cannot run a sissy bar and a tour poack at the same time. your tour pack should have a backrest on it. If you are wanting to run both but at different times all you need is the 4 point docking system then you can put on any quick detach pieces you want.
bike year changes were made on 08 to 09...the bikes were bigger...wider and longer ...worse case scenario is you have to redrill the holes in the tour pack to match the bracket
Need solo tour pack mount going to buy tour pack from Advanblack making shure I have everything to put it on they bike 2021 street Glide special it solo
Hello my name is Keith I have an 09 alter classic I wanna put a detachable top pack on the bike show that I could take it off when I want I'm having problems finding the kit that I need if there is any way that you could help me please let me know would be greatly appreciated maybe you might have this stuff than I need again it's an 09 alter classic fire Fighter addition
Hey there appreciate the video I had the wife on the 99 road king for the first time and she doesn't have much room behind me (She's skinny too) so thinking about a tour pack will that give her some more room on the back of the bike ?
Thanks man...yes and no.....The back pad for the tour pack sits in the same spot the back pad on the sissy bar sits....if you were to just move the pad back she would be leaning back and not comfortable....the tour pack mounting rack with slotted holes have about an inch play in them...however once again if you move it back to the farthest away it is not comfortable for the passenger ...she will be leaning back way to far
please let me know what your referring to "detachable luggage rack" Post me a link or something so I can see...because there is no difference in racks on tour packs from standard to cvo. but maybe im confused on what youre talking about.
@@harley_azley Its not that its a cvo but its based on the year...cvo style is no different...you have to order the one for your year bike. What year and model of your bike?
First off, thanks for all the tech videos, great stuff! I'm looking to install the Razorback tour pack on my 03 Road King, and I'm wondering if it's going to interfere with my license plate. Mine has a slight tilt to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It shouldnt as the tour pack mount made for that year bike will allow any tour pack to be mounted up there. Just need to get the right year tour pack bracket.
I have a 06 SG but I want to put a 14 & up tour pack on can I use the 14 & up bracket ? It looks like it has room to adjust the tour pack as the other bracket doesn't
the tour pack bracket will need to fit your bike,. you may have to re drill the holes in the tour pack however, not sure on that year. But just look up a tour pack mounting bracket for the 08 rk
Steve, can the tour pack mounting bracket be installed while passenger backrest is installed? I’d like to use the tour pack mounting bracket as a luggage rack.
It all depends on the color you choose. Here is the link to the king packs..just use the drop down menus to select your color etc www.advanblack.com/harley-parts/tour-pak-racks/tour-pak-luggage/king-chopped-razor-tour-pak-luggage-2014/king-tour-pak-pad-color-matched-14-later-harley-touring-street-electra-road-glide.html
We all have to learn somewhere. Some guys have an easier time watching and some guys have an easier time figuring it out on their own. Id rather show someone the proper way to do this than have them "figuring" it out and not doing it right then loosing the tourpack.
