So I FULL TIME glamp’d in my 32-ft RV for 5 years on my sons 2-acre property he was renting. It was SO fun. And listening to the rain and the thunder on the tin trailer was so wonderful. I love storms and lightening and thunder very much. Going to sleep with rain pelting the roof is very nice. I’m back in a home we bought out in the country, and I’m still marveling at the small things like I don’t have to empty my black tanks anymore, and my oven is big enough for a chicken LOL….. I really enjoyed my time out in my trailer in the woods, but I’m enjoying my home out in the country just as much.
I have made 9 bowhunting trips to Alaska, 2 trips to Alberta, and 1 trip to Idaho. Man does watching your videos bring back the memories! I'm 67 now and thanks to my left knee being jacked up, I can no longer do the self guided fly-in hunts where packing heavy loads of meat are required over very rough terrain. I wish you had be around 40 years ago, the information you are sharing is priceless to serious backcountry hunters. As a suggestion for younger guys like me when I was young, it would be great if you tested gear that your life depends on it working as promised in the harsh conditions you are kind enough to endure for your viewers. I did tons of research for my gear back then, and thankfully I never had a issue with any gear giving flawless service for the 2 to 3 weeks I spent afield on each trip. God bless you as you go afield to serve others and help them avoid potential life threatening failures of gear while hunting literally hundreds of miles from the nearest civilized town.
This video had a lot going on. Tarps tents storms fires cooking and just relaxing in the green forest!! Love the thunder!! Rain videos are so awesome!! Bring on the spring rains!! Thanks for everything you do!!
Great video! I’ve experienced some strange things out in the woods. One thing that seems to be a common denominator is that there is no other wildlife to speak of in the area. No abundance of birds, no real game trails to be found etc. Those are places I avoid setting up camp. The birds and other animals are a sentry. It will often be a lone crow or raven that will call, almost to say… move along, this is not a good place to be in. Sounds crazy but there is something to it!
Great video! I agree with your observation about the absence of wildlife in certain camping areas. Nature's sentinels, like crows and ravens, can definitely help guide us to safer locations. By the way, if you're looking for reliable outdoor gear and backup power, I highly recommend the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. It's built tough with a massive capacity and fast recharging capabilities, perfect for your camping adventures. Stay safe and keep enjoying the great outdoors!
As much time that you spend in the woods… you’re bound to, eventually, have a very undeniable encounter. Mark my words, Luke. So don’t neglect to share the experience with us! 😁
Hopefully. I think they’re out there. Maybe he will find one by accident but I agree the more time he spends out there the more he’ll increase his chances but I think these creatures are much more clever, and outdoor resourceful and intelligent, than we give them credit for. Think of what great apes and chimps can do in terms of cleverness but on our level or beyond. Orangutans are really smart but imagine a creature that has a bigger brain than they do and what something like a Sasquatch could do. I don’t think a lot of people are prepared to consider/or can imagine and Comprehend just how there is an ape like creature that understands how to be so stealthy and go relatively undetected. and still has the time rate and reaction time of a champ.
This is a creature that knows that in order to be stealthy, it Hass to get on all fours and stick low to the ground. People think that they’re always going to be sticking out like a sore thumb. But these are creatures that know how to dupe you when you are looking for it in the woods.
It's not the first time he's heard something "strange". In one video, he recalled how he heard something bipedal walking around his camp. It was on the edge of the woodline on a bald.
That green forest floor, fills my soul! Thank you for sharing, you're inspiring. Since watching your show I've set off solo camping and now I'm addicted :) thank you
Wow, what an exhilarating adventure! The stunning visuals and powerful sounds of the thunderstorm truly transported me into the great outdoors. Your detailed review of the outdoor gear used during the trip was incredibly helpful and informative. Can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you!
I have really enjoyed your videos.i am just an old country girl who now lives in the city and your videos bring back fond memories. Thank you for sharing your fun.
Here's a short tale regarding noises in the forest. My son and myself were out camping in the forest. We had audio recording gear with us trying to get some twilight forest noises, like how the birds quieten down maybe a deer bleat or a fox bark. So we were set up and recording. Just like you described there was a loud whooping sound again only one, it wasn't possible to say which direction it came from it was like from all around.. Neither of us knew what had made it. When we were home we replayed the recording and there was no noise recorded, yet you could hear real clear my son ask "What the ******* was that?" and my reply of "no idea" and our conversation that followed. If that was Bigfoot he's moved to the UK. 😉😊
Great episode, Luke. I wonder what that sound was? I'm physically disabled due to an accident, so I get to live my outdoor adventures through you. Thank you so very much. George G. (Australia)
I think you been in the gym boy ! just remember, the guys with real stamina are lean, with the musculature they were born with, if they worked. Gym muscles are short effort, I have seen too many guys that run in the early morning and go to the gym after work. Who quite frankly can hardly drag themselves round the site during the day !!
What a beautiful, magical and mystical forest you have! And it is a Rain Forest! I sense that the Forest welcomes and trusts you. i enjoy your rainy adventures the most. .
I watch several channels that deal with camping, bushcraft and gear review. I have to tell you, that the most attractive thing about a man who spends that much time in the woods, is humility. All in all, I think it is better to remain silent and be thought arrogant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I gotta be honest. I really enjoy your style where you don't talk for long periods of time and just let us enjoy the sounds of the rain or the fire or whatever ambient noises you got going on.
This is one of your VERY FINEST adventure videos.😍 It reminds me that you are also a professional nature photographer. The composition and lighting throughout the video are wonderful. I also LIKE the camp/fire/food system you present here. I would guess that you heard a buck snort in the night.
Yes, and the area is filled with Sasquash markings. Notice the Big "X" center and broken off branches throughout. I know some still don't (or more likely won't) believe such things exist, but neither did I at first. I also believe they won't harm - unless provoked.
@@DCL26 You have a good eye. And yes, unless we are perceived as a danger to them or their young, they most often just leave us alone. In most sightings it's the Big Guy who's trying to movies away from the humans. I've had them come in close before when they felt comfortable enough though. Often they are as curious about us as we are about them. But never had anything negative happen. We're in their home. Respect is the key. ❤RH👣
I absolutely love your videos. The stormy ones are my favorites. I grew up in Texas but have lived in Hawaii for almost 30 years. When thunder storms happen, they’re rare but usually huge. If you guys ever come here to explore, we could suggest some amazing places on the Big Island. Beautiful hiking, food, etc. Thanks for a lovely production!
I enjoy watching your videos. I grew up in the Ozarks and lived in the woods. I haven't been in any woods for a long time. You can't pay me to go into the woods. When you have something 9 foot tall looking in your bedroom window when you're a kid it makes you not want to go outside at night or go play in the woods.
@@chelsealouise3137 It was a Sasquatch. I lived at the end of this road and hardly anyone ever drove down to our house. It wasn't a person playing a joke or a bear. It had 18 inch footprints. It was a full moon so it's face was hidden in shadows. I thought it was going to reach in and get me. It really traumatized me.
@@dash5257 omg that is terrifying, I’ve always been on the fence but I’ve also always thought there are too many stories that are all too similar in description to really deny. Plus the fact we cannot know 100% what’s out there. I cannot even imagine the terror of how that felt thinking it could reach in 😱 wow that’s crazy no wonder you must still have trauma from that encounter. Do you live in a city or busy community now? Goodness that scare me out the woods forever. I’m never in them anyway, I live in Scotland we have the Loch Ness monster but that’s extremely rarely seen.
@@chelsealouise3137 I live in Florida in a small city. After I left from where I grew up I never went anywhere near woods. I sleep with blackout curtains so I can't see out and nothing can see in. When you see something that shouldn't exist it makes you wonder what else exist? Anything is possible.
Love your videos Luke! Fairly new to your channel but really love watching your adventures I find them so relaxing now that I'm at home with my newborn baby. Always get excited when a new one pops up! Production quality is always amazing too
I love your adventures, you remind me so much of my grandson. I hope you and Susie don't mind if I think of you both as my extended family. Susie is a sweetheart, you two together makes what my generation would call a WOW couple😅😅❤.
As long as the weight is attributed to added muscularity and not added fat, you're fine. Glad for you that you have adjusted well and can hike just like always up those mountain trails. Thanks for taking us along virtually on these fabulous adventures! That mystery noise could have been a snort from an Elk/Deer/Bear/Wild Boar Pig you just never know. Glad you did not have any trouble.
I can always tell how far/deep somebody truly hikes not by what they say, but by how much water they carry, what kind of gear they have, and the exertion level they are exhibiting when they reach their "camp". Cheers!
Hi Luke, thanks for the long episode and nice adventure. This was a good one. I'm glad to see an episode without a leaking tent! This gave me some solid entertainment for almost an hour. A thumbs up for you as usual. Tell the Sasquatch I said hello. :) S&H
Many of the shots in this video 34:57, 43:01 could be made into prints, framed and would look great on a wall at home or at the office. Just beautiful nature pictures. Good job, Luke.
Totally relate to what you are saying about the gains after I left the British army, I averaged around 79kg when I took up nightclub security and absolutely lived in the gym, working out for 3 hours a day 7 days a week, eating anything within arms distance, after a few years of that I averaged around 95kg. It literally becomes a full-time job in itself to grab those gains, work, sleep, eat, and gym, rinse, and repeat eternally.
What a magical forest, you are blessed! And to sleep in a sound tent during a rainstorm would surely be one of life's greatest pleasures. For now I camp vicariously through you! And I love those little DCF zipper bags, they're cool.
I really enjoy your videos. I’m a triple crown Hiker. I’ve done the Appalachian Trail the CDT trail in the Florida trail. I really enjoy your reviews on gear from the Lonesome hiker
That is a truly lovely forest, Luke. I'd love to know generally where it is. I grew up in the Smokies and love those old mountains. But I haven't seen that particular forest, covered in moss, so quiet and surreal. It really is beautiful. Now, if you were further North, I'd say that weird noise was a moose. But as far as I know, there are no moose in the Smoky Mountains. LOL! So, it must be a bigfoot, like you said. What else could it possibly be? 😊
@@TheWestlandgirl Possibly...but respectfully, I imagine Luke has been in the outdoors enough to know what a buck sounds like. The fact that he said he had never heard it before does seem interesting. And I've heard that same "one whoop" before myself. ❤RH👣
@@RockHillBigfoot I agree and being a mountain girl myself in Northern Cali and Oregon ..my parents in the Forest Service, my relatives avid hunting and fishing. My stint in the logging industry I have had and had encounters. A plenty. But not just willing to ascribe every strange sound as one of them. I've heard elk, moose, bucks make noises I couldve sworn were noises from these hairy creatures. I know their sounds. Been fooled myself. Especially the sounds of a woman screaming like she's being tortured coming close to my cabin. Had my outdoor guardian dogs panicking to come in. I let them. Next morning I found cougar tracks. Nothing else. I expected Big Foot tracks. Other creatures can sound like that too. Crazy....
@@TheWestlandgirl Yep. I shot a video for another channel a couple of years ago talking about that. The video is called "It's Not Always Bigfoot". Sometimes a pile of brush is just a pile of brush. A stick leaning on a tree is just a stick. Nature can do some pretty amazing things all on her own. Same with sounds at night. A tiny little red fox can make a sound that will have you convinced that a 900 lb. monster is about to come out of the woods and rip you to pieces. Goats in heat make a noise that sounds like someone mumbling off in the distance. A chipmunk jumping around outside your tent at night can sound like something on two legs walking around. I always tell people to be skeptical of anything in the beginning. But after you've removed all the other plausible things it MIGHT be, you have to face the fact of what it IS. ❤️RH👣
That Whooo is only one thing and that is Sasquatch my friend. It certainly will not be some guy skunking about the forest. Keep up the all weather camping.
Man, you make me want to start a channel. I am out camping or hunting every weekend, and during the winter, I get laid off from work, and I rarely even take 1 day off. I'm always in the backcountry here in Montana
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your adventures and equipment testing and sharing the facts and truth about the equipment
I hope if you ever do encounter an unexplained Creature, that you are brave enough to share it with us. Lol. Love your show since we're not able to hike for the last few years due to health issues, hoping to get back out there.. you're helping us get through this though! Take it easy ... Whooo!
Years ago I had a Kealty (?) tent I took up into the San Gabriel Mts in southern California. That night there were severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. I stayed dry all night, even though I could hear water running under the floor of the tent! Wish I still had it; it was one of the best pieces of camping kit I've ever owned.
2:49 Sapling snapped at the base where you set the camera (trailermarker). Branches stacked around a fallen tree. Behind you. Stripped trees leaned against other trees. Fallen trees form a perimeter. You literally camped in "their" backyard. Lol I agree there's a ton of deadfall, but there are also a lot of markers typically found in their areas.
I'm new to here, but I must say; you are a good man. I admire a man that is a great father, and is honest. I also want one those camp stoves! Take care, and God bless
I've heard that whoop sound before. It's a greeting...kinda like "I'm here". If you keep spending time in the woods around that area then I predict one of these days you're gonna become a Bigfoot believer...🙂
Y'all are dreaming I've spent years roaming southern oregon hunting hiking never have i heard smelled seen anything that could be sasquatch there is 0 scientific evidence jus my two cents
@@davidbones8947 @david bones Oregon is indeed a big place, which could account for that. May I also respectfully submit that perhaps you haven't seen, smelled, or heard one because they saw, smelled or heard you and your hunting rifle first. These are very intelligent creatures, not just dumb apes. Just a thought.
Luke, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but what you're describing (including the sound only occurring once) I've heard on a few occasions in areas where they are known to inhabit... they being Bigfoot. Their physical evidence is quite prevalent in these areas. Is that rock-solid proof it's Bigfoot? Of course not, but when nothing else fits the bill and there's historic precedence I wouldn't rule Bigfoot out just yet. Regardless, great video as to be expected from TOGR and I eagerly look forward to your next video! Cheers, -- Tom
It's going to be fun watching Luke go through his mid-life crisis. You'll build a gym on Lone wolf mountain. Then do gun videos that include pyrotechnics and helicopter video footage. Susie will get giant implants and tattoos and sell Suzie-Q bazooka coffee. I remember my forties, it was very "interesting" as Luke likes to say lol. 🤘🤙
Love your videos. Enjoy your time with your son. You gave some great advise on family. Totally agree what you said. You can't raise your kids on those books that is published. I am a Grandma of two college girls.
At 11:56 you can see your neighbor peeking between the trees 😍 Look to the left and the grouping of trees there w 1 big chunky 1... his shiny nose caught my attention. Gotta love em!
Being 6'5" since the end of 8th grade I have now only gained about 10lbs and that is within the last 5 years since my car accident. But now at about 190-200lbs getting back into shape, staying busy as I could throughout the winter. I'm in much better shape for this summer than I was last summer. Took longer than I expected rehabilitating myself back to normal after breaking 6 ribs (from the seat belt, so imagine if I didn't wear it), fractured sacrum, and 70% of my lower right orbital bone below my right eye. A month after I got it looked at I had plastic adhesion in that area and there was almost no bone at all left. Not sure where it went but this year is shaping up to be a good one. I hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable summer as well.
Another excellent video. Thank you Luke. On the subject of weight, I have something to add. I always gain weight each winter. The rest of the year I'm cycling and camping so I get back to what I consider my ideal weight of 165 pounds. One winter I went to 185. In March that year I cycled to Seattle, then bought a boat there and paddled to Alaska. Kayaking is nothing like cycling. It burns more calories than you can ever hope to regain by eating, unless you're cycling some extreme race like the Tour de France, or la Vualta. I lost 40 pounds over the seven months of paddling to Skagway, then back again, returning to the weight I had as a tall, skinny teenager. That was a bit over the top and soon after I returned to something approaching normal. For men at least, weight is more a matter of how much effort you expend than how much food you eat, if you have a healthy metabolism.
I bring a small ground mat that came with a Coleman Sundome on every backpacking trip. It's the perfect size and thickness for how I use it. I'll fold it up and stick it in the mesh pocket for easy access.
I grew up hunting and trapping. When I was younger, I helped many people have successful deer and bear hunts. I wasn't a guide. I had knowledge and enjoyed sharing. So I have spent many hours in the forest. I know all the different sounds one can hear in the woods. from Bobcats to Wolves. Rabbits screaming when being captured by a preditor. All the insane sounds one hears with enough time in the woods. I will not say Bigfoot. But I don't care who you are. Spend enough time in the woods, and you will eventually hear something that just doesn't seem to fit. Part of the joy and wonder of being out in nature. Great video. I enjoy what you do.
I'm sorry for falling asleep since you have stereo sound system recording your thunderstorm rain storm have always been putting me asleep just like me and my family camping 🏕️🥾 in outdoors and fishing under tents and camper shell in the back of my truck under ⚡⛈️ thunderstorms and rainy night in spring Times and summer times sometimes I never can get up since it's so peaceful to listen to sounds of nature .. and I may have to go back to rewatching this video again without sleeping 😴 again.
