Thank you for taking the time to layout the VATSIM videos. After experiencing the challenges as a new VATSIM pilot, these videos are filling in a lot of the gaps. Great work and very well laid out.
Hey man, I know this video is quite old already, but you are the first video I ever watched regarding VATSIM, and the know hows as a beginner, and whenever I come back to flightsims after a hiatus, you're always my go to channel to refresh my memory on how the phraseology did go. I really appreciate your work. Thank you!
@@o-manthehuman7867 ATC was cool but someone toxic told me to "invest in some updated scenery"... I couldn't care less because I only fly on VATSIM for fun and immersion, not for training.
Hello Captain Evert. I'm currently on my way from KSFO to KSAN on VATSIM. Looking on Vattastic, i see that there is only a ground controller at KSAN. Like you said in the video, Tower can act as ground. But can ground act as tower or anything else? Thanks.
Thank you for all these videos. I'm an enthusiast but super nervous about trying to get into vatsim and not being that idiot that everyone gets mad at.
First flight at EDDF , a night flight. There was an another aircraft taxiing to rwy. I talked to the controller on VATSIM for the first time!!! . His name was 'JAN' and as soon as I said I'm new, his reply was - "Don't worry, we all started one day!" And that gave me the confidence to move on VATSIM. At that time I had known nothing on phrasologies , he was the one who thought me everything .....
Thank you for this awesome video! It helps a lot, as I am really just at the beginning flying with VATSIM. Yesterday was my first flight and I had to monitor UNICOM just after take-off. The next ATC was the Tower at my destination. I didn't know how to handle that and had to disconnect. But now I'm pretty sure how I might have handle that because of your video and because I now know what to expect and which information the Tower ATC needs.
This channel is basically a private flight school teacher with no price, i know some people in my country taking a lot of money for just teaching this kind of stuff
You are a LEGEND. You literally played all the roles and make it look like a vatsim video(I know it's just a tutorial). This video helped me a lot. I am gonna share this video to my Aviators Friends so that they can play vatsim with no problem.(english is not my first language)
Very instructive, Thx. I can anticipate some issues with speakers depending on their native language. For instance you pronounce "CHierra 7" for "S7" when we expect to hear " Sierra 7" or "misKHo" (like the spanish jota) instead of "misGo"... So even using English may lead to misunderstanding...That's the international world we live in and , in my opinion, we have to accept the difference and the variety of languages and pronunciations.
Hey zain here from india can you please help me bro i tried to talk with atc with my own voice but i dont have any idea how to do it..can you please help me in this..waiting for your reply. Thanku 😊
So you report you are fully ready, then request pushback? So "fully ready" means you have everything programmed and ready and all checklists done before the pushback? It seemed out of order given the wait time.
That's the way it's done at Schiphol, just so they can give you the latest QNH and to hand you off to ground. Once at ground, only report ready for pushback when you are really ready to pushback, so with the truck ready to go.
thank you so much for this video, it's very helpful. I have a question, if in the descend the controller changes my ils and runway, what I have to do? I mean, how do I change that in my fmc?
Nathan Jones it depends on whose at the airport. If there’s ground, contact ground, if not contact tower, if there’s not tower, contact center. There’s kind of a ladder
I like flying in and out of EHAM but on the IVAO network. Schipol has very hospitable and accommodating controllers. The one thing I only don't like about the airport is the long taxi to 36L when you're in line for departure hahaha
Very noob question, but in the Aerosoft Airbus A320, I can only select like 121.790 or 121.815 for radio frequencies, when the ATC would specify 121.800. Anyone know if .815 would suffice, or whether it needs to be exactly .800? (and how do I get the .800 number?)
Did anyone get told if ground is offline tower is responsible of the entire airport? Maybe it’s a bit obvious but my idiot self said it’s unlikely. I was at Gatwick and I didn’t know that was a thing so I connected to tower and he asked me why didn’t I ask him for taxi clearance, I explained myself and he told me to standby. 5 minutes later he kicked me. Safe to say I’m trusting my gut whenever I feel something wrong :,)
Hello, you make many good tutorials which are excellent. Hope you don't mind if I tell you "please youse the official lCAO Alphabet and speak only English. I guess many people who are just a beginner level studying from any books they learning the official ATC communication, and just to speak English is hard for them selfs. On the other hand, communicating with ATC is the most difficult thinks for beginners and when you stick Dutch or any other language into your presentation, may be it is confusing. However, you do a great presentation and hope there is no hard feelings after all. Thank you,
you're tutorials are so helpful! thank you so much for spending your time on doing these videos. now i watched the whole vatsim series you made, and every video was helpful. now i can fly Vatsim because of you! Thank you
Hi. Thx a lot for your valuable video. It helped me a lot getting over my fear of using vatsim. Now I've enjoyed already several flights on the network :-) Btw, is there a proper way of cancelling an ifr flight plan and disconnecting from the network early if there is a reason for?
Thank you! Glad it helped ;) If you disconnect, you just disconnect. If you wanna be polite you can tell ATC you are disconnecting. After all, people also suddenly disappear because of sim crashes.
@@AviationPro That's fine. Was just wondering if there is a state of the art procedure as you mentioned for disconnecting the polite way. It is just great what controllers do for us sim pilots! It means a lot of effort for them and I really appreciate their contribution.
When you file your flight plan via vPilot, you can add remarks to the flight plan and you would just write there something like, "New Pilot, please speak slowly and I may need help."
What charts are you using that show the taxiways and gates? I've been looking for the right ones but I only find the ones that show the taxiways and runways and not the gates, and it doesn't show correct taxiway direction. You have probably mentioned this before but I didn't catch it.
Can you give me some advice please Do you have to programme the mcdu dor a specific runway to find the localiser to assist in an ils landing or donation just press the loc button?
first time i tuned into vatsim ATC as an observer I went to paris and the ATC just imitated the pilots french accent or something and then both wheezed xD
Does ATC to aircraft pilot radio communications vary on the ground of a controlled airport from airport to airport concerning receipt of IFR clearance on designated frequencies such as Clearance Delivery, Ramp, Ground, Apron and Tower? IFR clearances can be obtained from contact with any of these Air Traffic Control units above dependent on the ATC operational procedures in force at that specific airport. Does the pilot of an Airline have to be trained by the Airline as to which ATC unit to contact to obtain the specific clearance required at each airport?

Aaaaah, the commands was that easy, thank you, im relaxed. It looked very easy thank you! I will watch the video many times in a row to get the commands, thank you!!
@@AviationPro Thank you again, you are the Teacher that will make me respond correctly one day at Vatsim, im registered since last year.. (a month) and im just listening and observing from time to time.
Any tips on anticipating departure procedure in EU? With US flights when I run the FP in simbrief I am given a departure procedure in the FP, but not for EU flights. It makes it hard to get clearance when I am not anticipating what departure they are going to say.
It’s simply the identification letter of the ATIS. When something in the ATIS has changed, it will go to the next letter and you as the pilot know you have to listen out again :)
Thanks a lot for your videos. Absolutey helps to enter the fantastic world of aviation. Do you know of some kind of KI-software who may help to practise phraseology a little bit before becoming a big disgrace in "real" VATSIM world?
You're welcome! Not sure about that, but don't be afraid to become a 'big disgrace', everyone has to start somewhere. Better yet, just practice by yourself, think about what you would say and just 'dry practice' a flight without actually flying ;)
Hi I just had a question if I want to create a route do I just go to maybe skyvector select VOR points and to the destnation but what if the runway changed
Thank you! It depends a bit on the airport/region, it is more common at UK airports to mention aircraft type. You will get experience with time to see at which airports they like to hear that, other than that it might be mentioned in the ATIS or airport procedures.
@@AviationPro thanks also one more thing is there a way to practice remembering what atc said because most of time i cant remember what atc say because they talk really fast
Hey! A question! If I’m arriving at an airport where there’s only ground online or maybe only delivery online, do I contact them on my approach and when? Thank you!
You can contact Ground then after landing. Ground and Delivery do not have authority over anything that's in the air :). However, if it's not too busy you could contact Ground on approach already to already ask for a gate for example.
@@AviationPro So if I’m on my final, how do people on ground know I’m landing or have I got my landing clearence since I’m on Unicom? I’m still a newbie on Vatsim haha
@@Keljuk You don't need a clearance. You are just going to announce on UNICOM you are landing on the particular runway. Ground will see you appear on their radar scope well before that :) Ground is not in charge of the runways, that's why
@@AviationPro Oh ok thanks! Yesterday I did my first fligh on VATSIM from Gatwick to Manchester and it all went good. I was just unsure about should I contact EGCC ground and how do I announce that I’m landing. Anyway this helped a lot🔥
I got clearance just last night, and tower gave me a QNH as a pose to an altimeter setting. Threw me off as I don’t have any way of setting that in the cirrus garmin G1000. So I logged off. Was my first ever contact on Vatsim too
So I since learn that it’s still an altimeter Setting, just measures in millibars, and not inches. I have a conversion chart, as I still don’t have any way k on f entering one. 🤣🤣🤣
Duane Bennett ya it actually works for me tho, i mostly fly the cirrus vision jet because its so flippin easy to fly but that qnh got me kinda thinking xd
D3rpyDrag0n I’m sure on the G1000 there is a way to change it but, I dunno. I also recently noticed in my airport book, it has the Field elevation too. So I just put that in and done. 😂😂😂. It was just scary not knowing how to set it on my first time on vatsim. It’s scary on there, there quite serious. I’d like a more laid back approach, we are all learning on there.
In the delivery cleareance you forgot one very important detail... KLM1771 cleared to Frankfurt via Rendi1S departure, FLIGHT PLAN ROUTE, SQ3140. If the controller did you not cleared the FLIGHT PLAN ROUTE you need a new clearence after the RENDI1S departure.... because your IFR clearence will end after the RENDI1S departure...
The inclusion of the phrase 'flight plan route' is something you will not hear in the real world at Amsterdam. It's simply a local variation that you often hear in, for example, Germany, but there are many other places where this sentence is not included. In the US you might hear something like 'then as filed' after the SID clearance. So again, it's really about regional differences here. This tutorial was designed to provide a basic set of phraseology that can be used everywhere. Pilots themselves are responsible for adjusting to regional variations in phraseology.
