Good pickup, David! 🙏 It is something I considered at the time, but wasn’t sure it was required. I’m yet to perform one yet! Do you have any recommendations for a tool I could use to make it easy?
@@goatreviews a pair of tweezers do the job, one point on the ac hole and the other on the battery, even a couple needles are useful, one on the ac other on the battery and put in together to make contact
@@davidjuros3024 that’s exactly the genius I was looking for! 🧠🪡 My tweezers aren’t thin enough to reach, so needles are a perfect solution. Thank you 🙏
Fantastic question! 👌 The answer is no, you cannot! If you use WD-40 Silicon spray, it will damage the gasket, and actually 'eat away' at it! If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking out my recent video where a viewer had done exactly this, and ruined his gaskets by doing so: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8n5AobY5h3k.html He ended up having to 3D Print gaskets to replace them! You may check out the link in the top of the description of that video to read about the owners full explanation of what happened.
One thing to be careful of is trusting that an old watch is water resistant. I bought a dead and dirty G (from Buyee of course), pulled the back off to change the battery and found the seal pinched. I was either going to clean it or do the battery first and it was just luck that I didn't soak the module. Great looking watch and amazing price.
Wow, lucky you did that and saved it from getting ruined! 👌 Thanks so much for sharing this, and for the tip, Jim! 🙏 Yep - Really happy with this pickup 😎
Omg i have the exact same watch got it in 2013! Was looking to restore it but unfortunately it's not possible here in india. The watch is totally intact but just the colour has degraded so neede to replace the body.
Good stuff, Ayman! 🙏 It’s an amazing watch, right? It’s got much better functionality than the normal DW-6900 series. 👌 Yes! It would make for a satisfying restoration to get it back to it’s prime 🤩 Just remember, the straps can be quite expensive if bought alone. I left a link to where I got mine in the description, but you may also consider buying a used G-Shock if the straps are in good condition! 😁 Best of luck 🙌
Cheers Covid! 🙏🦠 It was indeed a fair bit of work! But I tell you, I’ve been loving wearing it since 😍 You’re right, she’s a CHONKER all-right! Barely fits under a sleeve 😂
Thanks for the feedback, Anthony! 🙏 I thought the story was worth sharing - but next time I’ll either try and shorten it, or perhaps save it for after the restoration.
Just the video I needed!!!! My straps are in need of changing and was able to buy the same glossy finish strap on eBay! So started looking for videos on how to change the straps on this specific model and no luck until I found your video!! So a BIG thank you for making it! 😊
Nice job on restoring it! I’ve watched a few of your videos now and I like the content you put out. What I like most though, is that you will show any mistakes you make, unlike the majority of other channels. I have now subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to seeing more of your mods and videos.
Thanks, man! I'm really proud of the result. It's a beauty! I appreciate your feedback 🙏 It's something I'm noticing a lot of people comment on positively. Being honest about the mistakes is something I believe is important to show, so people know what to realistically expect. And, I'm not embarrassed to do so! 😁 (Maybe that's why others don't show theirs?) Thanks for the Sub. Welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy the bounty of content to come!
I have the same exact watch, i didnt even know it was rare until i started looking for a battery replacement video and i seen the prices of the watches too stating that theyre rare and then this video! Its in overall good condition but has definitely been used everyday for years. I own other G shocks too but this one was my first G shock i bought fresh out of high school so its my favorite! Good video man i will be trying to take it apart myself to clean it up
Good stuff, Jose!! 👌 So you have this glossy black and gold version too? It's such a cool watch. 😎 I really appreciate the features compared to the standard DW-6900 series! It sounds like you've got some great nostalgia for your watch. 🤩💭 Best of luck with the disassembly and clean! Feel free to post pics of how it goes in our Discord channel, linked in description 😁
I have a gd-350br . actually survived a me dragging it on asphalt at 50 mph along with my face, smh, [dirt bike accident] well anyways best watch i ever had but it is no where pretty as it used to, the gloss is pretty much comming off, its almost like there is a clear coat that gives its shine, I tried polishing it but it will not come back, I noticed even on this one you did that on the bezel there are some scuffs that are still dull, do you know of any way to bring the shine back to the scufss, because i also have the issue
A truely SOLID watch, isn’t it Mike? 🙏 That’s incredible! Omg I hope you were OK after that accident! 😨 Yep, I absolutely feel you on the glossy coating. It was most prominent on the straps for mine, so luckily that’s all taken care of with the new straps! If I had to try and bring the shine back, I’d have a go with some of my “Gloss” Top-Coat or Spray Lacquer (which I’ve used on other plastics before - some Digimon Tamagotchi - with great success!) Sometimes a bit of “wear” can add to the charm of a G-shock. It’s got a story behind it! But if you’re set on trying to restore it, you could try a clear, gloss top coat - something along these lines: amzn.to/433eZN8 📊 As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
@@goatreviews thanks for your response , it blows my mind it did not break, in the accident, it has road rash, I have worn watches most of my life and have broken watches most of my life, and this is the very first watch that has never broken on me and have had it on for 3 intense years non stop.. just last night i was trying to polish it on a buffing wheeling on a grinding station, and the the buffing wheel grabbed the watch sucked it thru the wheel, housing of and spit it out and flew it cross the room, i was certain it was broken. . NOPE still perfect condition. . freaking crazy!!!! but yeah my accident left me banged up pretty bad, massive road rash on my face, huge hole in my eyebrow fromt he road rash, torn tendons, and a concussion, yet the watch hung on. . . but yeah thanks for the recomendation i will definitley check that stuff out
No problem @@mikeriverajr4447 🙏 Astounding! The way you tell the story, I can picture everything. That polishing incident is hilarious, if not a little dangerous… 😂 You should be a spokesman for G-Shock with a testimony powerful! Woah. Sounds painful! That’s incredibly inspiring though. So sorry you had to go through something like that. Sounds like you came out a stronger man, with a battle-scarred G-Shock! 💪⌚️
I did not reset the module. (Where you touch the 2 contact points, near the battery right?) I’ve heard about this but wasn’t certain when it was necessary, and have done battery swaps without apparently needing to. Would love to hear any more guidance on this if you have it! 🙏
@@goatreviews For me an important step. Sometimes the modul make strange things if not reset after battery change. Some function dont work as alarm, hourly beep, or the screen not show every lines. And these malfunctions show themself later. Thats my experiences. So I always believe the engineers caution. 🤗
@@gyulah849 Awesome! 🙌 I appreciate that you’ve shared this info with me. 🙏 I’ll keep this in mind for my next battery swap 😉 Glad you’re enjoying the videos! 👌
@@goatreviews The most extreme, when the screen totaly blind. One of my case I had to put the battery three times and AC, and only the third time started working the screen. But since that time the watch works perfectly.
