I got incridiblt lucky to have a grandmother who taught and dressed others in kimono, so I recivied her collection after her passing. Your channel is so helpful in learning to how to wear it all properly
They look so beautiful especially the lavender grey one. I dream of the day I can actually go to Japan and one of the things I look forward to doing would be shopping for thrift kimono, obi, and accessories as they are so expensive for me to buy here in the US. I think I may come home with a whole new wardrobe if I went to Japan.
The dark blue/ black one with yellow flowers are just stunning, I also am a big fan of matching sets. This video really makes me want to go back to Japan and look at all the thrift stores again ^^
Hi Billy! I have been so obsessed with watching all of your videos. I have truly learned so much from you and now have the confidence to begin building my kimono wardrobe. It would be amazing to see your winter wardrobe to get some inspiration and tips on outfits for the chilly season in Japan 🩵
If you feel like it, you should do more hauls in the future!! I really like seeing different kinds of kimono 💕 my favourites are the darker ones but i have to admit that the grey/purple one is absolutely gorgeous!
They are all so pretty but I liked the blue and yellow flower one best. Also I liked the last obi, the colors were just so pretty. Thank you for sharing with us!
Wow, all of them were my favorite. We don't have thrift stores like that in Kentucky. All of your kimonos are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Thank you for sharing your haul. Great fun to watch and I'm so grateful for the additional information. Your channel is just wonderful. The Higaki pattern kimono is GOOOOOORGEOUS. Well, they all are, but I love that purple grey colour, the pattern, everything. The obi worn with it is perfect. Again, they're all lovely.
It is so hard to choose a favorite, this is one of my fave hauls ❤ they are all so unique and beautiful. Thank you for sharing these, I’m learning I really need to visit Osaka to go thrifting!
Each of these outfits is beautiful, but I'm most fascinated by the kumiobi. I've done some thin kumihimo and I can only imagine the complexity of braiding something so wide! Thank you as always for all your content, the education and inspiration are priceless.
I love all the combinations but that Thai silk ikat obi is the best. I have a skirt I found second hand with that kind of woven pattern. I took some courses in dyeing techniques and that one just stuns me. I can't wrap my head around dying the threads and then weaving and have the pattern appear like magic!
At first I thought there could be nothing better than the lavender grey with the gorgeous graphic obi, but the last outfit is at least as gorgeous. I just love chirimen silk, the pattern is darling and the gradation obi is wonderful. Also, the Edo-komon kimono and the midnight blue check kimono are very, very beautiful. Also, the combination one. Honestly, I admire your (comparative) restraint in this very well stocked shop ;-)
Great haul!!! I feel Tsumugi kimono are underappreciated. They become softer the more they are worn and they just look classic. I cant wait to go kimono shopping in Japan. Super great finds!
Where I live, tsumugi are the most worn kimono. You barely see anything else being worn as casual kimono. So definitely not unappreciated. Also, some tsumugi weaves take almost a decade to finally become softer and they’re famous for that.
I love how you match kimono and Obi! They look so beautiful. Honestly looking at those kimono I would have passed them up because they’re too “plain” for me, but when you put the right Obi on with them they look SO beautiful. I would love to see a video on how you style your kimono and Obi. I’m so bad at that. I’m starting to get a big kimono and Obi collection but idk how to style them together. 😬
Your such a inspiration for me. As someone who LOVES to wear kimonos and isn’t A: isn’t Japanese and B: Lives in America I get self conscious sometimes and struggles to justify wearing kimonos in public. But when I see you wear and style kimonos makes me feel confident again, thank you so much for making videos and content👘❤️
I love seeing the beautiful outfits you find! That lavender one is gorgeous. I am nearby in Sasebo the next couple years and started taking kimono lessons here. I am a proud thrift store shopper!!! I’ll need to swing by the next Hakozaki market after watching that video ❤
Hello Billy!! thank you very much for this great video with these beautiful kimono in bright colors!! Too bad there aren't so many bright colors for men's kimonos. Great vidéo👏👍!!
It seems I’m one of the view people who love ensemble outfits 😂 and it’s actually cool enough in Germany to wear them so I might venture out and visit our local deer in the Tierpark ☺️
Dear Billy, thankyou for showing all your beautiful outfits.🙏🏽 I like bright colours, so I love that stunning Thai silk obi, but maybe my favourite of all was the pale lavender kimono with such a bold, graphic obi. Your combinations are always so pleasing! Thankyou, from Czechia
It was so pretty, interesting, and informative. I am shocked by the second hand prices. I wish you had explained the price change between used and new. Even the thrift stores here don't mark down clothes that much. Maybe... and I'm curious about what the situation is and why.
That’s super complicated, but keep in mind that the super cheap second hand kimono very often have weird tailoring or are stained or have been in the store already for years.
Ohhh, I love it! I was wondering if you have a video or if you could make a video, where you show how you can tell the difference of material used in obi or kimono and the difference in weaves. 💙 If there is too much information then can we get a series for it?
That sounds like a fun video, but that’s gonna be so hard. Retail depends on the craft the kimono is made with, so it can differ between $300-$30,000 … you probably can tell that is why I will really have to think about how to make that video fair 🤔 But thanks for the awesome idea!!
Can you put the address of these kimono stores in the description box 😅 I'll like to go there whenever I go to Japan. Thank you for the video, these kimonos are so beautiful 😍
So many beautiful kimono and obi that it's hard to choose. I have a question for you. Here in the US we have some costumers getting all upset and angry when a random white person wears clothing specific to a country or culture and screaming "cultural appropriation." Okay, maybe not literally screaming, but I think you understand. Specifically something like wearing Native American headdress or clothing when you're not Native American. So my question is, have you ever been accused of Cultural Appropriation when wearing kimono? Either by Japanese or by other non-Japanese people being gatekeepers and being offended by anything they deem wrong. There's no specific reason for me asking other than curiosity,
