Great video; thank you so much. Hardest part was removing screws holding glow bar to venturi which was NOT removable, but by removing the front screw, I could at least swing it to the side to access the well-rusted screws. Used your idea of "a little oil" (squirt of WD40) to get them to loosen. Other than that, pretty darn easy. Yay, this old gal just saved her 25-year old RCA stove from the junkyard!

Our oven is EXACTLY identical to yours. THANK YOU for making this tutorial! Even with my tendancy to second guess myself when performing a task for the first time, it took well under 30 minutes for me to replace the bake igniter! Our oven is good for another 22 years now! At our age, we might never need a new one! LOL

Thank you for a very helpful tutorial! These igniters seem to not last well. The first time it went we had a repair guy come in and I forget what he charged but it was a lot. This time, with your clear demonstration, my brother was able to install the new one . It cost 19 dollars on Amazon. Again, thanks for the help.

perfect - you're awesome - did in under an hour - one note to clarify - broiler pan/plate just above the lower drawer has 6 screws - 4 in front 2 on sides, slide that plate out and waaaaaay better access to everything. and don't over-tighten the replacement ceramic wire connectors - they strip easily. woo hoo.

Yeah, I just read on another video NOT to remove the diffuser tube. Something about weakening it and causing gas leaks. After removing that pan then you'll have access to the screws that secure the glow bar.

This was a great video. I second the comment that it was good to see this repair being done instead of after the fact as in some other videos. Also, my XL44 oven was made in 1999 and I could not remove the broiler pan as others have done. But absolutely no problem removing the venturi with your instructions.

WARNING! I changed ours today and the replacement coil sent to me was rectangular, not round, so after the install, I tested it and the oven filled with gas since the new bar is not as close to the flame..when it finally lit it caused a mini "explosion" almost powerful enough to blow the door open, you could feel the concussion from 10 feet away If you receive the "rectangular" igniter as a replacement, be sure to bend the bar closer to the igniter than it naturally sits or KABOOM!

what does the insulated spade cover do? the new one i got came with a spade but not insulated so i didnt bother clipping the old one and putting onto the new igniter

There is more oxygen present with the oven floor panel removed. You can adjust your air fuel mixture allowing more fuel to reach the igniter and that should correct the problem.

hi, i have ge gas oven, and my question is- the bottom igniter is for bake, upper igniter is for broil? My broil seems working and bake isn't.

I found it. The challenge was trying to figure out which parts are comparable. My model number was replaced with another. I think I got it now. My number is 0206 RS, the replacement model numbers are ERGR403 and WB2X9154.

You can try to bend it closer to the burner tube. Are you sure you have the correct igniter for your model?

I managed to get it all back together. I plugged it in, turned on the gas . When I press the bake and up or down arrow for the temp it comes on at 100 for about 90 secs then turns off. The igniter coil isn't lighting up. I've checked the plug, the fuse box but nothing.

Why do I have to splice both wires when my new ignitor came with a metal plug?

In mine the original spade plug was insulated with a plastic cover, and the replacement did not have that plastic cover. So I spliced both wires as well. We had the original igniter replaced many years ago by a repair man and he also spliced both wires. So I am guessing that plastic cover is important.

My question is: Why don't the replacement part(s) come to us already set with the proper connections so we don't have to strip wires and all? Lol, they really don't want to make it easy - they want us to call the repair guys. Anyway, thank you so much! I do all my own work. I figure if something's already broken, how much damage can I do with making an attempt to fix it before calling the pros?
