Patty-I always love watching artists use Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints. Your style reminded me of Mary Lizzie Cullen. I'm going to try this technique with my Kuretake paints.

What a charming imaginative painting you have made with these beautiful Kuretake paints! So interesting what you said about the opacity of the paints…I will bear that in mind as I have a set I have not used yet. Also the mixed media effect of the colored pencils made it magical. Super schöne Farben 😍 Und auch wieder ein schönes Kunstwerk, was du damit kreiert hast. Schade dass die Farben nur so schwierig zu bekommen sind. Ich halte die ganze Zeit Ausschau in diversen Kunstläden, aber ich denke es bleibt nur der direkte onlinekauf. Vielen Dank fürs zeigen 😘

Vielen Dank! 😊 War neulich im Boesner und da gibt es ja nicht mal die normalen Sets mit Japanischen Farben.. Bei Gaerstecker gibts die auch nicht. Ich befürchte online ist der einzige weg. Und vielleicht gibts sie ja auch bald wieder auf amazon da sind sie im Moment immer noch vergriffen. Warten lohnt sich auf jeden Fall...

I LOVE your style. I ordered this set of Kuretake last year but got tired of waiting for them and canceled, but you’ve convinced me that I need them. Now, I just need your imagination. I’ll be waiting for more of your videos.

Thank you! 😊🌸 Then I will recommend to play around with the colors first without pressure they are like a mix of watercolor and gouache.. that means they reactivate after drying. but they can also layer very well.. get a feeling for them. Let the layers dry completely before going on with the next layer. It is a beautiful set! I wish you a lot of fun while creating! 😀

Have have some kuretake paints but just haven't figured out how to use them. Thanks for the inspiration. This set has some beautiful colors for sure! That vermillion is quite a pop! But I really love fhe nuance of the colors each one is unique. I'm so glad you got them and you're enjoying them. Can't wait to see more!

Thank you so much for watching and your comment! Yes these paints work a bit different .. Perhaps try them out with a coloring book or use them to color inkdrawings.. or what I am doing is to take my sketchbook and create backgrounds with new paints to learn how they flow and how they mix together… if I can layer them or not.. So you don’t waste them and you can still create a beautiful sketchbookpage even if your first tries become nor „perfect“ in your eyes.. and you learn a lot!

Those little critters are so cute! A beautiful Fantasy painting! 🩵 This Kuretake set is difficult to find in Sweden so it was really nice to be able to see the colours and the swatching of them. 😇🩵🙏🙌

sehr süßes bild wieder, ich mag die farben in ihrer farbigkeit, aber aquarell mit deckweiß sind nicht gut zu vermalen, zumindest nicht als aquarellstyle, so empfinde ich das. trotzdem ist die palette schön 🙂

Vielen Dank! 😊 Ja sie sind sehr eigen im Malen. Genau wie Aquarellfarben kann man sie nicht verwenden. Wenn man aber den Dreh raus hat, was sie können und wie am besten, dann sind sie einfach nur toll. Ich kann mir auch vorstellen, das flächiges Ausmalen mit denen in Malbüchern auch super viel Spass machen kann. Oder Colorieren von Tuschezeichnungen.

They are a bit different as other paints.. they feel different while painting. And mixing them together to new colors is not a good idea.. but I like this “dirty” look on the paper. What is it what you don’t like? That they look a bit dirty and chalky? That is their special charm ..but you are right perhaps thats not a good thing for every artist. I honestly think that the hype is just about the colors and not the paint. I bought the original set because of all the raving and I just don't love the paint. I never use the set. I prefer traditional watercolors. So I ended up writing down the colors and whatever I don't have, I buy over time, and now I'm sure to have the paint I like and will use. The price gouging over the year as the hype took everyone over was insane. Now it's dirt cheap, less than half. It took them forever to restock to meet the demand and now they are trying to get rid of it. People paid a fortune for something not at all worth that price.

Yes of course.. you have to like the special feeling of this paint.. and the glossy finish. Otherwise these paints are not the right for you. Ich like it here and there and used them - not a lot - but regularly. Its awesome that you found the colors in the paints you love to work with! I would love to here which paints you use and which comors you chose… if you would like to share it ☺️
