Just bought a used 2002 L series Tractor that had just had $2500.00 worth of injector work done on it. ZERO fluid in the front axle. alternator fan belt crumbling, and who knows what else. How could Crown Kubota in Missouri not check these things out with an invoice of over $2500.00. The previous owners were not mechanically minded for sure but when I take my vehicle in for an oil change the shop is giving me a LIST of things to consider repairing or replacing (washer fluid - lights - wipers etc) but the Crown Kubota in Springfield Missouri apparently has better things do do than inform the previous owners of maintenance issues.

I have a new Kubota L3902 with 57 hours. Saw a video of this type and checked my front axle. Manual only says to change the oil at 800 hours. Minimum level is 4.8 quarts and mine was 2 quarts low. I contacted Kubota Corp and the only thing they said the axle should be fine because it was designed to run on lower than 4.8 quarts. I asked them to look into their new tractor preparation process on this topic as I had seen a couple videos like this one posted. So far no reply from Kubota.

Trade it in on a Massey Ferguson sub compact tractor. The Massey Ferguson has a solid cast-iron engine for longevity and mine has almost 600 hours on it and it’s a 2018 and still running strong. if I had to do it again I would do Massey Ferguson all the way and save yourself some money. I bought abrand new mf gc1710 back.in 2015. When we took off mower in order to remove backhoe, then reattatchedbackhoe, it didn't work nor did the loader. Come to find out, I got a dealer whom.gave me a tech support, only dealers get to talk to. After a short conversation with tech,we determined that the hoses were hooked up wrong. I followed book to a "t", but tech td me to hooked them opposite the way manual showed.I did this and everything worked perfect. He told me they, at factory, do this sort of thing all the time as well as others.

You probably won't get any metal (or much) when you drain the fluid. What you will get is premature bearing wear, so expect to be replacing bearings within a 1,000 hours or less. Watch for seal leakage on the inside of your tires....bearing failure usually translates to seal failure as the slop in movement eats the seal, and you will see fluid leaking down the inside of the tires.

I said that about Ford when the paint peeled off my 1986 within 3-4 years....came off in strips...not even stuck to the primer. U-joints ("sealed for life"= no grease fittings) went around 50k miles....replaced with after market joints WITH grease fittings. So I switched to Chevy for the next new truck. 60k miles, and the oil all leaked out of the differential because the differential cover was eaten up with rust !! (Truck not driven on salty roads....they don't use salt here) You could take a screwdriver and stick it plumb thru the cover. Obviously made with crappy, recycled, already rusting metal from the minimum bid subcontractor for covers. Neighbor is a Dodge man.....had all kinds of transmission and front end problems. My guess is you simply can't buy a vehicle today that is quality made or serviced.

I'm going to be the outlier here. It's the dealer's responsibility to prep the tractor but it's also the owner's responsibility to do their own inspection at delivery. This should also have been caught if the owner did his initial 50 hour maintenance. Being found at 62 hours, means the 50 hour maintenance wasn't done. Kubota and the dealer are at fault but so is the owner. I just finished doing my 50 hour maintenance on my new BX 2380 and yes, it's a tad expensive and a pain but this is a quality and expensive tractor.

Do you inspect the internals on a new cars you buy or do just say to your self that as a manufacture you think they would put oil in the differentials of your axles in the car that you buy. Oh and your 50 hours theory ... ok now I would have only 50 hours instead of 62. Really do just like hearing yourself talk or what

I like to let you know the the front axle fluid isn’t on the daily check list or on the 50 hour service instead you will find this only in the 400 hour check/change list 👍

Sounds like the dealership hires low paying high turnover people with no customer service. When I ran my own business I new word of mouth sales was king. Did allot of free service calls to my customers. Some were old and lonely and just wanted some company and I knew that and still dropped by to fix their none problem for free and talk for awhile.

I know so many who have had zero problems and love their Kubota. I think it's more the dealer than the product. Go to the Corporate office as I think you have a loss of confidence with that dealer.

Agreed and I love my tractor but I did just that and emailed the Corp. Office

While I do agree the dealer should have caught this, I must say that you are just as much at fault for operating the tractor 62 hours without once checking the fluid levels. To blame Kubota is ridiculous. To blame the dealer is understandable, but I'm thinking you have to take a hit on this also. Never assume someone else is looking out for you. I do think the dealer should shoulder some of this, but ALL of it? Not so much. People make mistakes like the dealer did here, as well as you by not checking it.

When you bought a new car or truck did you check the axle fluid when you got home 🤔
@moonbounce

@@SunnySlopeHomestead No. But I did with my Kubota, and I wasn't the one making a video crying about the mistake I made. Cars are shipped with fluids in them. EVERYONE knows that these tractors are not.

I disagree entirely. It's a dealership issue, not a brand. It's just like cars. You can have Ford, Dodge, Kia, Audi, Chevy, etc dealers that are complete garbage and can make the best cars a pile of shit.

That’s right it is a dealer issue and the green dealers are not any better then any of the other color dealers

My guy, this is 100% your fault. 62hrs is a bunch of time and work to have not checked fluids. Now your dealer prep was garbage and they should be held accountable but you can’t complain about the 62hrs...... that’s on you. Sorry not sorry 😬
@SunnySlopeHomestead

Front axle is not a daily check item and isn't even mention until the 400 hour service. Do you check your axle fluid levels on your new car or truck when you first buy them or do you relay on the manufacture spec ? Somethings should be good to go with no worry like this as it isn't a fluid that would be consume and or leak out un-notice.
@scott2426
@scott2426 3 года назад
All fluids that can be checked are checked. It's really that simple, I think if you are being honest you'd agree 62hrs is too long to not have checked. Especially considering just how easy it is to check. I still appreciate the work put into sharing your experience!!
@danyoder3534

That’s crap the DEALER has to check that as part of the psi and if there’s no puddle under it why in the hell would you check it. Dealers are getting lazy and sloppy and that’s the bottom line cause stone cold said so
