I flew a Dji Mavic 3 through a Chicago snowstorm and arctic blast. Some parts of Chicagoland reached a bone cracking -23 degrees with wind chills as cold as -43 degrees below zero that was officially recorded by the National Weather Service. Those temperatures were recorded well in land away from the lake at the farthest points of the Chicagoland area. The lake-effect snowstorm wasn't bad, but nevertheless, there's some great footage to enjoy. I always had a view of the drone at all times for safety.
The drone never got wet from the snow because of the extreme cold temperatures here in Chicago.
14% of Lake Michigan is iced over during the time of the video. You will see a lot of ice and some people flocking to the lakeshore to photograph and enjoy the great views.
