Exactly! That is probably the most stupidest advice of this woman. Danes are quite proud of their past for a reason. Why would they hate to call them Vikings? I am living in Denmark for 5 years now and no one told me such a thing. Same in Aalborg, Aarhus and Copenhagen.

Viking were called Danes. Denmark was the cradle of viking and all famous Vikings are more or less Dane's like Rollo, Beawulf, Bluetooth etc.
@mickpalmer6213
@mickpalmer6213 5 месяцев назад

@Smo1k

Oddly, Sweden is probably the least Scandinavian of us. Even Iceland's culture is more akin to Danish, Norwegian and Finnish culture than Sweden's. Being a stagetech, I've worked in most countries this lattitude, and since there's crowd safety involved, I usually need to interact with the police. Swedish police... It's like they want to make a problem out of the fact that you're talking to them. It's like Southpark's "RESPECT MAH AUTHORITAY!" when you're just asking where they wanna set up shop for the upcoming festival. Baffling: A Danish, Norwegian or Icelandic cop tends towards the attitude "If there's no problem, I can live without the paperwork. Carry on." 😉
@TheKIMANO
@TheKIMANO 9 месяцев назад
Denmark, Norway and Sweden have many similarities and in fact all of Norway and parts of Sweden were once Danish. The brotherhood we share is also the flow of a lot of banter, but it has also been deeply serious once. Depending on how you count wars, Denmark and Sweden have a sort of world record for wars with each other, but the record could also be between England and France. It depends on whether you count actual battles or the time you have been at war.
@hansenlima9306

I read a bit about the Danish and Swedish wars, Sweden lost most of those wars. I've never been to Scandinavia, but I've been studying about this region of Northern Europe for a few years now. Sweden is the country I like the most that too because I like a lot of Rock bands and Pop artists from Sweden, they make good music. In general, all Scandinavian countries are very different for a Brazilian, it's like another world.

I do jaywalk, but I could also just well be standing all alone in the middle of the night and wait for the light to turn green. What I am saying is that it is not as strict as it is said. But yes if I see someone jaywalking I would notice - it is that rare. But I would mostly just think that the person was either very stupid or very much behind schedule. I would either shake my head at the idiocy, or smile that he/she got herself into such time trouble.

As a Dane, I disagree with half of this. You can pet dogs as long as you ask first. Jaywalking is a no go, so is drinking and driving, and taking photos on pusher street. The rest depends on the uptight Dane you are around. But most don't give a shit about Roskilde, if weed is legal or not, what people drink, and love being called a Viking. Plus most Danes will find it funny if you speak Danish, but might ask if you can say it again in English.

About interacting with the dogs of Danes, you can just ask politely. Usually, the answer will be no simply because the owner knows that if the dog actually bite or attack anybody, there is a good chance the dog will be put to death. Most dogs in Denmark are family dogs and may react unexpected to people they don't know or feel comfortable with.

Hello sir, I hope you wont find it rude, but I'd like to ask you a question. I think you're saying that you're 75 now. So when Disneyland opened and become popular, were people aware in Denmark that it was inspired by Tivoli Gardens? (By the way I also have a folding bike! An inexpensive Zizzo).
@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188
@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 11 месяцев назад
@@BobKnight-mm2ze Yes, to my knowledge Walt Disney became much inspired by the Tivoli (and it isn't only for amusement, but also a fine natural Park around, as also a part of the now flattened, former Fortress Wall round Copenhagen, and the water in front of it)! And by the way, we also have an even older Amusement Park, north of Copenhagen, and considered the oldest in the world, "Bakken" (and we don't mention, that they have one in Vienna, which is, possibly older?)! We also have the by far most precise "Mechanical Clock" in the world (Guinness) and with the slowest moving mechanical part in it (Guinness)! "The Olsen, World Clock" inside the Town Hall in Copenhagen (Not the clock in the tower, on the outside of the building!).

And if interested in History we also have most of the former, outside Defense Wall round Copenhagen and considered the finest of its kind, now mostly also a Public Park. It was built around the former turn of the Century, and it became absurdly expensive, but most likely kept Denmark from being invaded by Germany during the First World War, so it was worth the cost!! And several of the former Military Buildings have been reconstructed from the original drawings! As also a part has been cleaned from growth to make it look like the original. And you can't see it as a defense wall from the outside, before you meet the water in front of it, in a deep ditch. We had invited a German Officer up to look at built, and from his Report we could, after the war, see that he considered it would be too expensive to take control of the Danish Capital!!!!

The long winters is what makes life really worth living for, it is a genetical thing, it is in the blood. When spring hits and you see life blossom up and the vibes starts to buzz, the batteries charges up and you live the fullest again, then autum sets in you settle in and gear down and prepare yourself for the beautiful winter and stay active. You have to have it in the blood and most north people have that life cyclus hard ingrained in their genetics, it is a disciplin and they love it. They value and enjoy life much more because of it. It is the winter that makes the North people, resistant, creative, strong and super productive. My family owns property in Thailand, the country is beautifull but i would absolutely hate to live their due to the climate. I've been to many places but i always miss the north and always will. About drunk driving on a bicycle!! That is not true there are no law about driving drunk in traffic on a bike!! The reason it have not been a problem back when the law was put into place! It have always been prohibited to drive in traffic under influence of alcohol, drugs (also medicine) or because of severe sickness!! This is the first rule You will learn when taking a drivers license! And of cause it goes for everybody in traffic, also drunk jaywalkers!! If You cause an accident You will be liable!! It has not been something police took as a problem previously, but now so many thinks it is okay to drive home drunk as a skunk!! This is why police take is seriously now! You will not have problems with calling Danes Vikings!! Most of us are quite proud of this ancestral heritage! Thank for the video of an other perspective of our country! Happy New Year!! Kind regards the Danish Viking

The video makes it sound like the Danes are a bunch of rule-bound angels on bicycles. The warning that you, as a tourist, practice your skills before throwing yourself into traffic is extremely relevant, as Danes on bicycles in Copenhagen are a bunch of bloodthirsty anarchists ;-) The fact that they pretty much all hold back at red lights is primarily because they know how to other cyclists behave.

These things are about the culture of Copenhagen. Copenhagen is not all of Denmark. In Jutland, the main part of Denmark, everybody jaywalks and cyclists are totally indifferent to rules and right of way.

Jaywalking rules are idiotic. If it’s an empty street with no cars/bikes anywhere I’m walking across. I’m not standing for ages like a lemon waiting for a green light. Just displays a deep conformity and inability to question authority which is pretty creepy tbh.

LMAO 🤣 ! Some of us do Jaywalk, if there is no traffic ! But basically, your right..., we wait for the green light 😊 ! Yeah! Tourist´s coming here to ride Bikes, not knowing the rules.., , are the WORST 😔 ! A danger to themself s and the rest of us. You need to learn the rules before you get on a bike here! (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H42KjIkO8SA.html) . Freetown Christiania: By the time of this comment, "Pusher Street" has been shut down by the locals there. The Gangs have been run out, with the support of the Danish Police. Your gonna have to find your "Weed" somewhere else 😊 ! As a Dane, I don´t mind being called "Viking" 😊! Proud of my heritage.., for good or bad 🙄 ! Really GOOD Vlog Anna ! ❤ it !

If you are an English speaker, don't even try to pronounce Danish words. Germans actually can pronounce many of our words, like Nyhavn.

@Gert-DK
@Gert-DK 9 месяцев назад
@@freepagan If you don't have researched it, such as Google Translate or if you don't have knowledge of German or other Scandinavian languages, you won't have a clue. So if you are an English speaker, just pronounce it the English way. We are used to it. OK, some names come out quite funny, and maybe we laugh a little when you don't see it. TIP: Learn to pronounce Æ, Ø and Å, it would help you a lot. They are easy to pronounce, and I believe they are constant through all the words. Your hate letter in Danish would be "D". It has 17 ways to be pronounced.

You are excatly what we in Denmark call Nyhavn, a turist trap. Absolute nothing of what you say is true. i work just behind the buildings you have in the video aound Kgs. Nytorv. And live on the other side of Sjælland. No whare in these areas and between, nothing is like you say. There are only two rools in Denmark. Behave well and respektfull. thats it. If you want to talk to a Dane, just talk to the person. Everyone can speek Danish, and the will all be helpfull for you. Thats the trouth.
