Really?! When I was there I was so impressed at how well behaved everyone was. I spent the day with a Danish friend and I almost crossed the road at the red light as there were no cars around but my friend stopped me and looked at me like I was insane 😂
Yeah as a copenhagener I can tell you we jaywalk a lot and even when police see us they don’t care as long as you are not endangering yourself and others 😂😂
Jaywalking isn't actually illegal. It's perfectly legal to cross the street where ever you please AS LONG AS it's not within 30 meters of a zebra crossing.
@@Earthrush no, it is legal but on your own volition. If you are, i think in range of a zebra crossing of 100 meters you'll get a fine. Can't remember what range but i think it was 100m. Though on your own volition and responsibility you can cross some roads. Roads like highways and motorroads would be illigal. You just have to make sure that you can cross without being a hindrince to other people in traffic.
@@rasmusbonde9280Nah it was reduced in 2015 after COP15 to 25m (it was 50m), the reason as I remember is because the police wrote out alot of tickets for jaywalking when they were actually supposed to perform security for politicians and the event, so it was reduced to avoid the same situation. I might be wrong about the reason though, but it was changed right after COP15. Now you can cross legally even in Copenhagen if you are roughly in the middle between two pedestrian crossings. Before in Copemhagen, pedestrian crossings were so plentiful that it was difficult to argue your way out of a ticket for it, now it's much easier, although it's rare to get caught doing it in my experience even if you are technically too close to the crossing.
@@omega1231 There rules are probably similar here in Sweden and I never heard of anybody getting a ticket for that here. The Police can't be bothered. When I was a kid though, long time ago, they did bother to catch kids giving other each other a ride on the bike. We didn't get fines but for kids it's a bit scary anyway to "get caught". Can't believe they had time for that.
Bro this is everywhere in Denmark there’s also Jutland. It’s bigger than Copenhagen. Jutland is more peaceful and more nice to enjoy. Copenhagen is more like an shopping place or city
I've lived in Amsterdam for 5 months and in Copenhagen for 12 years and I can tell you that Copenhagen is the cyclist capital of the world I dunno why people hype so much about Amsterdam and bike culture when compared to Copenhagen there's hardly much cyclists and that's a fact.
I promise that if the police think you are to drunk to ride your bike home, and they have stopped you for that cause....they most likely are right (!) and they would have urged you to walk home because they genuinly cared for your safety. In reality I, as a Dane, have never heard of any Dane that have been fined for drinking and driving a bike. However do not run a red light, that CAN cost you a fine.
been so many times in Denmark. I now love it even more then my home country The Netherlands. I love the people, food, nature, rest. But i have been more in the South west up to Northern region. With a little bit Ebeltoft region.
Jaywalking is never enforced, like never, and alot of people ride drunk home 😅 and they wont ask you to put your bike, they will ask you to walk with your bike home, and cyclists dont follow the traffic rules 😂 completely wrong video 😂 and yes i have been to denmark i was born in copenhagen 😂
true but it can be quite scary to ride a bike in Copenhagen during rush hours though, so I will recommend tourists to train when and where there aren't that many Danes on bikes
@@rasmusbonde9280 That makes sense. If you cross without regard to your own safety, or are crossing a busy road with a crosswalk nearby, it's fair to get a ticket.
It depends on how bored the cops are and how stupidly you jaywalk on an empty street they dont really care but trying to weave through moving cars they might just slap you with a fine
You can drink and drive a bike without being fined. I live in Copenhagen and I've never heard of anyone being fined for that. Actually I've done it myself even on a tandem bike.
Telling people to not ride a bike in general is just a pure liberty, like go ffff themselves!! I've lived in this city for 12 years now and no one is telling ANYONE to not ride a bike in Copenhagen like what next, don't get on a ride and have candy floss in a theme park?!
Lol I can be fine with the drunk part but telling people to not ride a bike in Copenhagen full stop is like telling customers at a restaurant to not sit on a table seat or to not go on a ride and have candy floss in a theme park. This woman needs to not smoke weed if it makes her think weird.
Jaywalking and drunk biking is absolutely normal in Copenhagen. I lived and studied there for many years and i can't tell you how many times i did that. Yes it's against the law. But I dont know anyone that's ever been fined for doing it. I think this video was made for the express purpose of causing interaction and comments, more so than relay any actual truth.
@@wietzevanderwijk3169 depends how drunk you are. sometimes you can just get a fine or penalties on your license. i know (in very serious cases) they can suspend a license completely. and only if its clear to an officer you are too drunk to safely ride a bike.
Been drunk with my bike many many times in Copenhagen and never got a ticket 😂 you just have to know your limit with the alcohol!! And am from Malmö / Sweden
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 /////////////////////
It's great that in Denmark the cyclists actually follow the rules. This is not the case in Finland (or at least in Helsinki). Here about 95% of cyclists just do whatever they want and do not care about the law. For example cyclists generally have to give way to cars on a zebra crossing but most of them think they have same rights as pedestrians and they just go and the cars have to stop. Also it's very common to find some idiots riding their bikes on the pavement even though it's illegal if you are over 12. Even in London the cyclists obey the rules better.
I'm sorry but telling people to not ride a bike at all in Copenhagen is like telling a customer to not sit at a table in a restaurant or to not go on a ride and eat candy floss at a theme park. There is no barrier to riding a bicycle in Copenhagen whatsoever. Anyone can and should as long as they have working legs.
I’ve been to Denmark and people look at you strangely if you cross the street on Red or say I am from New Orleans we are the best at drunk driving in the world.
While here in the U.K, these kind of laws to make cycling safe for road users, is a wet dream. The authorities here are too lazy to do the right thing.
As an American riding a bicycle drunk and getting fined is ludicrous there has to be some story behind this or do the Danes take bike riding that serious
Telling people to never ride a bike in Denmark is like telling customers to not sit on a table seat in a restaurant. Wth is that even supposed to mean, how are you gonna just tell people to not ride a bicycle in the most cyclist populated city on the planet? Stop smoking too much of whatever you're having.
People don't follow traffic rules because of fines. It's part of our culture. Police will not stop any small mistake they see. They have more important things on their schedule. But we still follow the rules ( well, most of the time😊)
Im Danish and i bike-ride all the time drunk. Even drink at the same time, and smoking weed sometimes.. never got arrested for that. Police here dont give a fuc tbh
I have don all of it. Godt fined one time riding wrong way on a one way street, with no light and drunk. Was onley fined about 500 dkk at the time for going the wrong way.
To all the naysayers who claim that they break all these rules all the time and are never sanctioned and are screaming "clickbaity bullshit": all of these things are illegal to do, and you've gotten off scot-free because you weren't caught. Simple as that. My friend was fined for jaywalking once. It is absolutely illegal.
As a middleaged dane I must admit I’ve ridden a bike drunk *many* times in my youth! 😅 (though not in Copenhagen. It was much safer out in the countryside :)
Denmark will fine you for absolutely anything until you are a product of society basically a robot! !! One year here, lovely people but get me heme lol nearly there
